my favorite thing is that no matter how hard i abandon this blog, im always bombarded with people going through and liking every max post ive ever made lmao
Finishing off with characters from Yellow Jacket, we've got Eddie Chiplucky, Charles Coven, Stopwatch, and Spitfire.
Thanks to everyone for following this!
Notes and Design headcanons under the cut!
- Paul has eternal eyebags
- Alice is adopted
- Most Jeff Blim characters have long hair except for Mr. Davidson.
- the more you call on the Lords in black, the less human you become, hence Wilbur's and Willabella's ears and hands. Miss Holloway covers this up. In the NPMD timeline, Grace will eventually gain these traits.
- Tumblr ate the quality, but I gave Hannah freckles and Sun bleached hair. I imagine her mom sends her outside a lot.
- Greenpeace girl also has sun bleached hair, and is tan
- I'm proud of how I did homeless Ted's hair :)
- I tried to combine Tim's looks from Black Friday and Nightmare Time. I imagine he died his hair not long after Jane died.
- The only time Gary spends outside is running to and from appointments. He's a very pale man.
- Pete also doesn't spend much time outside. And he gets some pimples as a treat.
- Steph is not adopted, and is biracial
- Max has the most intense blue eyes.
- Grace spends a lot of time outside, whether at camp or riding her bike.
- Richie DEFINITELY dyes his hair. He also gets pimples as a treat.
- I saw one Werewolf!Mark Chasity post and fell in love, so I gave him a little fang.
- PJ x Reese
- The Metzger boys have been altered by the woods (again, saw ONE post and fell in love), so I made them all a little monstrous.
- Executive Kilgore definitely didn't become a cyborg without at least a little scarring. Maybe a lot.
- Kale also gets to be pale.
- Sophia seems like the type to do colorful and artistic makeup.
- Two of Linda's boys are NOT Gerald's. He knows this. He doesn't mind.
- Marco is clearly not human, so he gets gray skin.
- All of the Abstinence camp kids are pretty tan except for Mary. She's eternally pale.
The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals Reprised! Opening Weekend Experience!
Oh man, I'm still processing everything but I'm putting my notes below!! SHOW SPOILERS BELOW! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Omg where to start. First up for context: My sister is a theatre professional currently doing Wigs, and this Spring she got to work with Will on Little Shop in Denver! When the remount was announced, Will said if she went to the show he would meet up with us afterwards. So knowing that meet and greets are so rare and that they don't stage door anymore, if this was an opportunity to meet at least Will, I had to take it! So, I was able to secure our tickets with the Kickstarter pre-sale, and we were off to the races! I didn't even realize until later on that the best weekend that worked for us was opening weekend!
We didn't rent a car so we just stayed in the neighborhood the whole time and walked by the theatre many times and I got so many pictures since I didn't get to get any pictures of the marquee last time (Nerdy Prudes) due to the rain. When we walked by Saturday morning we saw Curt outside and got to wave hello!
Now for the show experience. First of all, the merch was surprisingly awesome!! If anyone would like the link to look at the merch let me know! In addition to Hatchetfield merch they also had some leftovers from Cinderella's Castle, and my sister bought a Sir Hop-a-lot plushie and the CC pin set!
I think what I was most excited to see was the set, and it did not disappoint!!! It kept some of the square elements of the original, but was completely built out. There was a city background set, and then other elements could overlay on top. There were also elevated windows that characters could pop out of. The Beanie's set had a proper counter and menu boards that came down, but the most impressive set was the Professor's House!! Complete with a painting of Will as the Professor 😂 There was a lab/storage area with a corkboard that looked like a murder board with red string. I can't wait til someone gets a zoom in on of it from the YouTube version! I'd bet money that there are some fun easter eggs on there!
I'm not sure if this is considered a set or a prop, but my second favorite piece was the meteor! It was massive, and looked like it was painted with glow-in-the-dark (or maybe blacklight) paint, very subtly in the shape of Pokey's mask! It was sitting in the background, so Joey didn't have to wheel it out at the end this time 🤣
The lighting was also AMAZING and added so much to the production value. The costumes seemed pretty much exactly the same as the original. The coroegraphy was definitely elevated from the original. A new detail was that once someone was infected, they added blue goo to their mouths!
Everyone was pretty well-behaved for the show, no one was singing along that I could hear (yay). There were a lot of cheers for entrances (Will, Jon, Jeff) which I guess is somewhat iffy, but Will also mentioned that he appreciated the saturday night energy, so I think they were okay with it. Also, they had cameras up for filming so we were really curious if they captured our laughs hahah
Will Hidgens absolutely lives up to the hype! He killed it! His Hidgens is VERY saucy. He uses very precise movements like a dancer. During Workin' Boys when he starts saying all the boy's names he would pause dramatically and turn to face the audience before saying each name and everyone was cracking up. Him and Mariah as the cops were INSANE 🤣
JEFF. Jeff was a man possessed. For Sam they gave him a long blonde wig that looked like his original hair and I think it possessed him. One thing they added is during Sam's song when he's trying to get Charlotte to unlock him, two people come out and lift his chair into the air insinuating that he's levitating??? I wonder if this was Lauren's way of "flinging people" 🤣
For people who were hoping for more or different lines, I'm sorry to say the script was mostly unchanged. There was one part where Paul and Emma are walking in the wings after escaping Beanies and Emma says "Holy shit I just lost my job" and Paul is like "Well it's 2018 the job market is great..."
Added characters!!: My favorite was adding Max and Ruth into La De Dah Day! It was so fun to see them again! Then of course Pete was Hot Chocolate Boy. In the "cup of roasted/poisoned coffee" scene, Pete and someone played by Will are chatting in the background. I thought he was supposed to be Max, but other people mentioned it could have been Richie or Will's character from the end of NPMD. Also in La De Dah Day, Jamie plays a character (as far as I know) we've never seen before... she looks like a middle-aged woman with short blonde hair and a hat. If anyone knows who she is, let me know! Frank also makes a brief appearance!
After the show we met up with Will in the theatre where most of the actors came out and were chatting with friends and family. Honestly everyone looked exhausted and I can't balme them 😭 We got to see Jeff and Jon and chat a little and then as we were leaving we got to chat with Lauren and grab a picture 🥹 We mentioned to Jeff that we had met him 10 years ago at Trail to Oregon NYC, and as we were leaving Jeff said "See you in 10 years!" 😂 But everyone was so chill and down to earth especially Jeff, it was whiplash from seeing him being so high energy on stage.
Okay I think that's all for now!! If anyone has specific questions, feel free to DM me!! 💙💙
