âBehind you stands a symbol of oppression, Blackgate Prison. Where a thousand men have languished under the name of this manâŠHarvey Dent! Who has been held up to you as the shining example of justice!â
Bane in green â asked by baneing

Gothamâs Reckoning
- Youâre pure evil!
- Iâm necessary evil.
âThen you will be well met in these depths, though I cannot vouch for your safety should you ever turn your back. Some are just too blind to realize a threat when they see it.â This man was lithe and well dressed and though Bane could see the power in him other, more desperate men might not. âCare to share a name you prefer to be called?â
âI would know a threat when I see oneâas for the darkness, it has yet to betray me.â His eyes wandered yet kept his gaze impassive. âLoki would suffice. And yours?â
Funny, this man was either more powerful than even Bane could grasp or just that full of himself. The masked-man never thought of himself as less than a threat to any living being, but the one before him saw it differently. The name itself wasn't a new one, another Loki he'd met coming to mind. "Bane." Hands were moved, fingers drumming idly against his side where he placed them over his vest. "You claim the name of the liesmith? The god of chaos?"
To find him. Only him. This only threw up more red flags that something wasnât right here. Bane kept what of his expression visible schooled and neutral, plenty of a give-away to Talia that he was waiting. Her entire explanation was taken in and being processed, but he couldnât answer all of her questions in return out here. Not where they werenât protected, where someone unfavorable could overhear.
âCome with me.â Bane started to turn, making sure the woman understood that he wished her to follow before he began his trek. When Talia was young Bane would carry her in his arms, tucked against his chest and shielded by his own bulk. Now, as an adult, he didnât do the same so long as she was able to stand on her own.
Part of the problem was that last time heâd seen her she hadnât been able to stand.
âYou remember the tunnels correct?â He was leading Talia into one of the wide openings that curved into the underground. âAfter what happened I suspected Gotham would do something to better protect the sensitive underbelly of their city, but I was proven wrong. I have stayed hidden from them all this time simply by walking under their feet.â
Bane wouldnât stop until theyâd come to a dead end, one that was obviously a sparse camp, inhabited by one. The masked man required nothing to be comfortable, but he kept a few blankets and such around anyway. His body was once unused to the chilling air, having grown up in a hot pit of hell, but over the years heâd started to adapt. Even if he never felt the effects himself Bane knew the cold could slow his body, weaken it, so his thicker clothes and coats were a necessity to keep him at a peak of power.
There was one place to sit and it was offered to Talia while Bane remained standing. âIt has been seven long years since I last saw you. Many more since we were here in Gotham together.â He paused, weighing his options on what to talk about first. âItâs nice to see you walking again.â Thatâs where they could start, heâd save Damian for later, perhaps another conversation entirely.
Talia obeyed and followed the masked man without question. Â Bane wouldnât normally request things of the Daughter of the Demonâno, he respected her far too much to do so, though she would not mind it if he didâso naturally when he did, Talia knew that it was something important. Â Something that could not be said aloud.
âYes,â she replied and nodded in acknowledgement as the mercenary and she made their journey into the tunnels deep underneath Gotham City.  How could Talia forget?  Why, the tunnels was a crucial part in their plan to destroy Gotham.  It had achieved their near-victory through the obtaining of Bruce Wayneâs weapons and had served as an imprisonment for the three thousand Gotham City police officers many years ago.  âSo, you have been here⊠all along?â  No wonder the woman had been unable to locate her protector and friend; Gotham would have been the last place for her to have lookedâand underneath the crime-invested city, no less.  It bothered her.  Why did he not return to her if he was alive?  Why did he keep himself hidden away?  He should have known that she was looking for him.  Unless he had thought her dead.  That, she could not blame him for; as far as Talia al Ghul knew, Bane could very well have been dead, too, had the woman not found him now.
When they arrived at Baneâs encampment, Taliaâs eyes scanned the place observantly. Â So, this is where her dearest protector had been when she was above ground and in the sunâhe had been here in the darkness like from the Pit they had both suffered from. Â But this was also the darkness that they had risen from and gained strength in. Â Darkness may have once been their tormentor, but it was now their power and strength.
Talia swallowed.  One of her hands involuntarily stroked her thigh, remembering her inability to walk all those years ago.  âSo, you know about thatâŠâ she uttered quietly, narrowing her gaze.  If anyone looked at her, they wouldnât be able to think twice about her ability to walk and move.  She was perfectly capable of it, a feat that was not quite so seven years ago.  It was a secret that Talia hoped no one else would uncover.
Not that anyone knowing would hurt her now, but it would wound her pride to a degree.
"I know a lot that you have forgotten." Bane observed coolly. This was why she'd found him; there were obvious holes and memories lost that he needed to fill and restore. "The day that Gotham fell I was the one who saved you from death." There was no spite, no hint of cockiness or pride in the man's voice. He was calm, his voice growing quieter even with the amplifiers in the mask.
"I'm not skilled in healing, only breaking. I didn't know how to fix your body so I only helped ease your pain." Any way he could help during those years together while  Damian was raised, any method to keep Talia comfortable, Bane had tried it. So long as it didn't end with her addicted or otherwise incapacitated they'd resorted to it all, but the woman had a strong will like him and brushed off such negative side effects. "Seven years we were in hiding. Seven years before we were separated again." He waited to let that bit of information sink in. It was a big gap to be told was gone.
"All signs pointed to you being dead, but I never accepted that. The years following I had...other matters to tend to, but," Bane would have been smiling if he could, "we both know that we can never be kept apart should we live. You found me in the darkness of hell and now you have done so again."

âIndeed it is, but there must be something to draw you this way.â This was another with more than meets the to them. Bane would need to be careful if he hoped to learn what it was.
âThe darkness draws me in and the constant influx of chaos.â This one seems a little different, but not threatening.Â
"Then you will be well met in these depths, though I cannot vouch for your safety should you ever turn your back. Some are just too blind to realize a threat when they see it." This man was lithe and well dressed and though Bane could see the power in him other, more desperate men might not. "Care to share a name you prefer to be called?"
âI come back and find more of you than when I left. What purpose brings you all here?â
⊠Oh, strolling by only.
âDangerous place for you to be wandering stranger.â
A subjective point of view.
