Cyanotypes:
A cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a blue-cyan print. The process was used to make low cost prints and copies. The process uses ammonium iron(III) citrate and potassium ferricyanide. To create a cyanotype you must arrange objects on the paper and expose the paper to sunlight. I found that one of the most difficult parts of doing cyanotypes was finding a good composition for my objects. The image often turns out differently that expected (due to shadows or movement) which was difficult. Eventually I found that my favorite way of doing cyanotypes was to only use flat objects. This way, there were no unexpected shadows and movement was also minimized. I also decided that instead of doing messier, less organized compositions, I preferred the look of things with a clearer pattern and organization.
