introduction + navigation
My name is River. I am the voice behind the former studyblr @rivkahstudies. This is my langblr/workblr.
intro
I am an adult with a degree in linguistic anthropology. I use they/them pronouns in English, ella/elle pronouns in Spanish, ela/ile in Portuguese, and hiya/huma (هي/ هما) in Arabic.
This blog will focus on my languages, particularly Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and (Levantine) Arabic, the languages in which I’m trying to train/certify. It will also include my hobby languages, anthropology/archaeology content, history/culture content, and resources/content for getting a job/conducting a professional life. I’m also interested in travel, architecture, books, cute animals, life tips, and a miscellaneous assortment of related things.
audience
I’m a good tumblr for an audience who,
is also in the first few years of their career,
is interested in the cultural/anthropological/linguistic content I post,
who wants resources on language learning, interpreting, job searchs, etc,
who wants academic content that is neither anti-intellectual nor inaccessibly pretentious/classist,
wants an overall intersectional academic/professional blog to follow.
I am not a good tumblr for an audience who,
is under 16 years of age,
wants to romanticize “the grind” and girlboss culture,
wants aesthetic original content,
is bigoted against people based on their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, culture, religion, language, etc.
I will be much more vigilant over those who follow me, which simply means that I block empty/spam-seeming blogs and those with bigoted or harmful content.
