Send ‘fly on the wall’ for a Drabble of my muse talking to someone else about your muse
Beatrix identifies as ace because she has more important things to do and can't be bothered with making friends, let alone more serious relationships
🎈
Do you remember the start of your life? How long ago was it?
“Do I remember my childhood? I’m well on my way to two thousand years old, but I don’t think I’ll ever forget the years before my sustainment. There’s something about being terminal that sticks with you. I spend the first fifteen years of my life waiting to die or cure my own ailment, whichever got me away from my mother the fastest. I expect that with enough time I could have remedied my illness, but as it turns out my exceptional intellect was enough to earn immortality. I consider that a win for the smart kids.”

✦ = being well-dressed (bluedeneb)
A long day in the lab called for a nice night of relaxation, anything to break away from her pages of notes and test results. Cleaning up, she managed to get almost all of the blood out of her skirt, leaving a few faint spots here and there, before leaving the medical bay. She hummed quietly to herself until she spotted the Torao, looking remarkably neater than usual.
“What’s the occasion?” she asked, raising curious eyebrows.
bluedeneb:
For that, Deneb could be somewhat thankful, though she was only going off what she’d heard about the doctor. Her “separation” between herself and her patients, ensuring that it was only a treatment of the problem instead of the vessel’s well-being. A strangely analytical way to see things, but still admirable. “Do you not require my… measurements?” Deneb looked down at herself, realizing that a tape measure hadn’t been added to the bunch of materials either, or maybe she’d missed it with the way they were hurrying. “Not that I doubt your expertise.”
Looking up from her work she studied Deneb thoughtfully, humming to herself. She had forgotten the tape measure, and none of her measuring tools were meant for the kind of measurements she would take otherwise. She scolded herself mentally for the mistake; it would slow her down, but her exceptional intellect would hopefully be enough to make up for it. “You shouldn’t doubt me. If I can give sentience back to the Thrall I can make an outfit that isn’t going to make you look like an Eldrid sausage. Now, what is traditional for your people? I was thinking a long tunic and some sort of leggings, something that will move with you without having to worry about any social missteps. At least none on account of your dress.”
"Another one?!?"
“Yes, another one. Do you think research founded on a fluke is worth anything? Repeatability is reliability, Idia. I need more subjects.”
At the mention of Idia helping Beatrix with retrieving more test subjects, the sergeant grew hot in the face, ears pressed against her head. “I’m not sure if I can do this anymore, Beatrix. Do you know what you are doing to these subject exactly? You’re not killing them just for your personal gain are you?” Her words sounded harsh, as sharp teeth snapped together in a low growl, “because if you are… T-then you’re no better than…” The Hypotherman paused in her anger, closing her mouth shut before any other words could be spoken, turning her head she looked away from the doctor.
“Than who, Idia?” There was venom in her voice, challenging Idia to finish the sentence. Beatrix was unmoved by the soldier baring her teeth, echoing the act with a menacing grin to show off the neat rows of pointed teeth. “What personal gain could I possibly get from them? The only importance they’ve ever had in life is being my subjects. I’m practically doing them a service.” Her smile widened, pushing a short laugh through her teeth. “But if you’re not interested in helping me anymore I’m sure I can convince Trevor to assign someone new. Your friend, Out, maybe? He’s a bit lackluster, but the UPR seems to find him useful.”
"Hey! Watch it!"
“Watch yourself!” She snapped without looking up to see who was speaking. She’d been preoccupied reviewing the results of some recent tests and had admittedly not been watching where she was going. Lifting her gaze from her notes she frowned. “Aren’t spies supposed to be quick on their feet? What a shame.”
Her cockiness made his snarl all the more as black eyes rolled. “Please, doctors make mistakes all the time.” Out corrected, knowing full well that EVERYONE made mistakes even her. His lips lowered forming a thin line, there have been several things he’s experienced. Many he wished he didn’t but still each was a learning lesson on life. “I have plenty of knowledge, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have this job.” He replied curtly, ripping his gaze to look away from her. He couldn’t stand this and was half tempted to walk away from this unruly little girl.
“Aww. Tsk tsk, pouting, are we. Getting out witted by a child must be frustrating, am I right?” As loudly as Beatrix would argue against being labelled as a child, she knew that’s how everyone thought of her. It made for an amusing taunt, even if it felt like she was belittling herself in the process. “I’ll spare the rest of your pride for now, but I suggest you work on watching where you’re going. I won’t be so merciful again.”

my muse’s biggest fear
The thing that terrifies Beatrix the most is being obsolete or irrelevant. It’s an existential fear rather than a fear of anything tangible, but given that Bea is sustained and has a medical background, most physical things aren’t a real threat. She’s an over-achiever at heart, though, and very competitive, so the idea that she won’t or doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, that all of her hard work and genius will eventually fade away is awful. It’s even more terrifying considering she’ll still be alive to watch it.
something that makes my muse happy
Although it’s not anything anyone would expect of her (or anything she wants people to know about), Beatrix enjoys a good shitty sitcom. It’s a sort of guilty pleasure for her, but she likes popping a bowl of popcorn and enjoying something that doesn’t demand much of her attention or brain power. While she’s certainly arrogant about her superior intellect, it relaxes her to not have to be a genius all the time and take pleasure in simple, stupid humor.
when my muse feels the most at ease
After a long day of being smarter than everyone around her, Beatrix likes to spend time on her own or in the company of a close friend (if she had any, she’s more fond of the idea than anything else) and simply lay around or read a book with a nice cup of tea. If she’s not reading, she usually ends up taking a nap, but she enjoys those too.

She nervously glanced back into the room and nodded, satisfied with what the doctor had picked out for her. How she was going to put it all together was beyond her, but she was trusting her sense of style in all this. “Shouldn’t we… do something about the door panel?” she inquired as they made their way to the lab. It would be difficult for someone to not notice the damage that had been done, and it probably wouldn’t take long for them to figure out who was responsible. She had some difficulty getting through the doorway of the lab, but she chose a corner to sit in, giving the doctor enough space to work. “… were you really concerned about my way of dress, or did you simply need another project to work on?”

“Don’t worry about the door, I’ll take care of it later.”
Closing the door to the lab behind them, Beatrix laid out all of the materials she’d gathered and turned to her cabinets of supplies for thread. She huffed at Deneb’s question, plopping down to consider her design. “Why does everyone think I’m making them a project? I only want interesting subjects. The Torao are an interesting species, don’t get me wrong, but you wouldn’t be conscious right now if that was the case.” She was beginning to get sick of everyone’s paranoia, and if it continued much longer, she figured she might as well start experimenting on them so that at least she was guilty of everything they thought she was.
Using the needle of the injector, she began tearing seams to separate panels of fabric. “That outfit is almost scientifically horrible. My heart might be made of synthetic compounds, but it still couldn’t handle letting you walk into a party looking like that.”
♡ for friendship. ♬ for childhood. ☼ for dream
friendship headcanon
Unsurprisingly, Beatrix does not have many friends (if any), this is something that has remained constant since her actual childhood. However, Bea is actually an aggressive mom friend. While most of her studies revolve around less-than-pleasant experimentation, she still is a doctor and will make sure her friends are well taken care of. She’s also the friend who will offer to vivisect or slowly kill anyone who has done wrong by her friends. The general population is a bit safer, though, since no one really wants to be friends with Beatrix.
childhood headcanon
Beatrix wasn’t nearly as aggressive as a child. She kept to herself, mostly, but the culmination of her overbearing mother, the hostility of peers, and being back intellectually (I headcanon that until her illness became severe she received the same schooling every other Jennerit child did) came to a head around the age of 9. It was then Bea decided to take charge of things and became increasingly interested in experimenting on others and using her incredible intellect to do what she wanted, rather than what her mother wanted her to do.
dream headcanon
Beatrix’s dreams are not always a product of her mind alone. In the process of attaching the Incistyx Injector to her person, Beatrix used the brain of Professor Hopkins to help operate it by integrating the brain with her own nervous system. When the Professor acts up, it can interfere with her own brain functioning and cause distortions in her dreams. Sometimes the influences are alright, and sometimes things don’t go so well.
