maybe orpheus always looks back because his very effort to reverse death means that he can't look forward. if he could look forward, he could accept eurydice's death, grieve, and keep moving in life. his refusal to accept her death is looking back. his going down to the underworld, asking hades and persephone for her life, trying to lead her out... it's all 'looking back'. he does nothing for the entire story except look back. orpheus! looks! back! it's his entire thing! the story ends the same way it begins: orpheus looked back.

For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.

Bergamo Italy 🇮🇹

Bergamo is a historic city in northern Italy, located in the region of Lombardy. It is famous for its beautiful medieval old town, known as Città Alta, which sits on a hill and is surrounded by impressive Venetian walls.

Bergamo has ancient origins dating back to Celtic tribes and later became an important city in the Roman Empire. During the Middle Ages, it grew into a prosperous trading and cultural center.

From the 15th to the 18th century, Bergamo was ruled by the Republic of Venice. During this period, the city’s famous defensive walls were built, and today they are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bergamo is also known as the birthplace of Gaetano Donizetti, one of Italy’s greatest opera composers. Today, the city attracts visitors with its historic architecture, charming squares, and stunning views of the surrounding Alps. 🇮🇹
