“How did they describe the project?”
“They didn’t *chuckles*. That’s actually not that untypical in startup environments, they want to keep what they are doing secrets.” The need for transparency in start-up culture. Not hiding away until its done. Isn’t that because we are so amazed by the speed and the magic-like nature of startup worlds? The drop-outs, rebellious young entrepreneurs, made it to unicorn in a short period of time. It’s sickening. Why are we so obsessed with this kind of culture. As Roger Parloff said, “honorary horseshit”

This felt personal for a person who ever had vision perception disorder. I experienced taleopsia and pelopsia when I was 4 to 6 years old. I guess due to their frequent occurrences, I tended to be too attentive whenever I am about to touch things or a surface. I was the slowest moving kid and really got scorned to a point it gave me anxiety.

It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our own necessities but of their advantages. Nobody but a beggar chooses to depend chiefly upon the benevolence of his fellow-citizens. Even a beggar does not depend upon it entirely. The charity of well-disposed people, indeed, supplies him with the whole fund of his subsistence. But though this principle ultimately provides him with all the necessaries of life which he has occasion for, it neither does nor can provide him with them as he has occasion for them. The greater part of his occasional wants are supplied in the same manner as those of other people, by treaty, by barter, and by purchase. With the money which one man gives him he purchases food. The old clothes which another bestows upon him he exchanges for other old clothes which suit him better, or for lodging, or for food, or for money, with which he can buy either food, clothes, or lodging, as he has occasion.”
No More Worries
The reason why people worry is because they believe that it will help them in some way, but the truth is that it’s really unnecessary. Just by intending for the solution or clarity that you seek to come to you is enough for it to come to you.
To help you feel more sure, you can write down exactly what you want to solve or what you want clarity on. This will be more than enough.
If one wants to be active, one mustn’t be afraid to do something wrong sometimes, not afraid to lapse into some mistakes. To be good — many people think that they’ll achieve it by doing no harm — and that’s a lie… That leads to stagnation, to mediocrity. Just slap something on it when you see a blank canvas staring at you with a sort of imbecility. You don’t know how paralyzing it is, that stare from a blank canvas that says to the painter you can’t do anything. The canvas has an idiotic stare, and mesmerizes some painters so that they turn into idiots themselves. Many painters are afraid of the blank canvas, but the blank canvas IS AFRAID of the truly passionate painter who dares — and who has once broken the spell of “you can’t.” Life itself likewise always turns towards one an infinitely meaningless, discouraging, dispiriting blank side on which there is nothing, any more than on a blank canvas. But however meaningless and vain, however dead life appears, the man of faith, of energy, of warmth, and who knows something, doesn’t let himself be fobbed off like that. He steps in and does something, and hangs on to that, in short, breaks, “violates”…
Vincent van Gogh, Ever Yours: The Essential Letters (via madeliteral)
If I don't react doesn't mean I hate it or I don't care. I have preferences. And on things beyond that, I am in no way against them, I might just not understand them well enough to love them. I wish I could handle everything, understand everything and please anyone.
I am a slow person, that is expected. What’s unexpected is that my attention gets sharper when my mind is occupied with multiple things at once, which, for average people, perceived as “too much it brings the attention down”. Hmm
Hari pertama, tahun kedua. Dua jam blablabla. Basa-basi. Lalu pulang kerumah. “Mereka hebat, aku apa..”. Ibuku bilang itu penyakit sombong. Tidak nyaman dengan orang yang ‘lebih hebat’. Komentar yang lumayan menyakitkan.
I hope you would love life as much as you’ve made me
“What happens after the glamour? What happens beyond the storybook ending? What happens when everything has worked out and you find out that you’re just a couple of people sitting on a bus, wondering who the hell you and the person beside you are?”
The Graduate (1967) dir. Mike Nichols
Note to self...cause I want to love myself:
“Hey Indah, I know it is hard. I know you cried a lot and people think of how shallow you are still crying over small thing like that. But they don’t know you are a girl who hardly cry. They don’t know you are a fighter. They saw you cry and they judge. You know you are not a weak. You know you won’t quit. You know what you’re doing and you know the road is going to be tough and lonesome. Never stop believing yourself, go for your passion and never give up on that. Always open up to new experiences. Never settle down. If you fail, get up, get up, get up, get up and fight back. Always be prepared whenever you have to fight alone. But never reject people who are kind enough to be in your life. I beg you, please, do not hide away, do not hide away. Don’t give up on people. You might find some that are not good for you, but believe me there are some that are meant for your life. People are facing problem in different level. They are just like you. Always be kind to them. Do not seek for revenge. You might hate yourself sometimes, but hey, she’s the only person you can rely on. Trust what the heart says. In the end, as long as you meant for the good, things will fall on the right place. Nevermind the details.”
Overconfidence in the use of science to control society will make a man a tyrant, and will lead to the destruction of a civilization which no brain has designed, but which has instead grown from the free efforts of millions of individuals.
F. Hayek
