I wanted to capture the feeling of dissonance Harry feels when looking into the enchanted mirrors in Malfoy manor to see himself with Voldemort’s eyes. Harry lost something so concrete, his mothers eyes, what else will he loose in the process.

Mirror of Erised

..Welp this one took longer than I predicted-

I imagined this as a sort of a Post-War AU, Harry being a MOD, his life turns uneventful and all that crap... Here, the horcrux inside him wasn't eradicated as he thought so.

Upon looking into the MOE, the connection between him and Voldemort reignites, but instead of the mirror showing his deepest desire, it modifies itself (only to him) as a one-way portal to the afterlife. Wanting to keep this a secret, he moves it into 12 Grimmauld Place.

Years pass, full of interactions and deep conversations between them, and they eventually develop a strong bond- to Harry the MOE no longer represents a portal but his deepest desire. It soon becomes unbearable to see everyone move on with their lives, while his, without Voldemort, feels like a barren wasteland.

On the brink of his turmoil, he has to decide to either step into the afterlife and leave his friends behind, or somehow find a way to resurrect his now-no-longer enemy.
