random anecdote for father's day: one time during a long car ride my dad asked me, "you're familiar with Murphy's Law, right?" and i was like "isn't that the one about how anything that can go wrong will go wrong?" and he said "yeah, exactly" and i said "why do you ask?" and he went "well, have you heard of Cole's Law?" and i said "no, actually, what's that?" and he said "it's mostly lettuce and carrots with a little dressing mixed in"
P. Earwig is the artist for this, Mr. Bungle’s debut album art. I couldn’t find a scan online, so I scanned my own cassette (which crops some of the art; I have to dig deeper for the CD booklet).
I used to stare at this thing for hours trying to decipher its coded claustrophobia. I saw hints of the album’s songs and lyrics, so I was determined to find out more. Same thing with the album itself, really.
P. Earwig also designed this OU818 shirt for Bungle, and painted this album cover a decade and a half later. Everything else is a mystery or nonexistant. Not sure what else P. Earwig has done, or what his/her real name is, but any info would be nice to come by. Let me know if you do!
And while you’re at it, tell me anything you know about another SF band Eggly Bagelface!
UPDATE ONE (3/7/15): Rare P. Earwig Bungle art on twitter.
UPDATE TWO (8/12/16): “P. Earwig was a guy I met in the early days of tape trading. He started sending us drawings influenced by our lyrics. The hyper-adolescent, cartoony, perverted, and violent nature of his work seemed appropriate, so we paid him a few bucks to use it on our debut.” - Trevor Dunn
