Bolivia’s cholita climbers

For years Lydia Huayllas, 48, has worked as a cook at base camps and mountain climbing refuges on the steep, glacial slopes of Huayna Potosi, a 6,088 meter (19,974-foot) Andean peak outside La Paz, Bolivia.

But two years ago, she and 10 other Aymara indigenous women, ages 42 to 50, who also worked as porters and cooks for mountaineers, put on crampons under their wide traditional skirts and started to do their own climbing.

Egalitarianism is wanting men and women to have equal rights. Feminism has never though men and women are equal, or there wouldn’t be such hateful propaganda against one of those groups.

Feminism is getting women rights on the grounds that they don’t have enough, and since women have more rights than men in the UK Canada and USA, it sounds like feminism is reaching for supremacy to me, not equality. A little bit misandrist, don’t you think?

Physicists just found a link between dark energy and the arrow of time

Is dark energy the reason time moves forward?

For years, physicists have attempted to explain dark energy - a mysterious influence that pushes space apart faster than gravity can pull the things in it together. But physics isn’t always about figuring out what things are. A lot of it is figuring out what things cause.

And in a recent paper, a group of physicists asked this very question about dark energy, and found that in some cases, it might cause time to go forward.

When you throw a ball into the air, it starts with some initial speed-up, but then it slows as Earth’s gravity pulls it down. If you throw it fast enough (about 11 km per second, for those who want to try), it’ll never slow down enough to turn around and start falling back towards you, but it’ll still move more slowly as it moves away from you, because of Earth’s gravity.
