@kryptonite-tie and I were role-playing (with his OC, Tommy Mason) and I got to share my wonderful headcanon that while Ford's seen a lot of anime, no one explained to him that anime just means "animation from the country of Japan."

So, when Dipper sat him down and showed him Pokémon: The First Movie, and Ford asked "What is this?" Dipper said "Anime."

And when Soos sat him down and showed him Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Ford asked "What is this?" Soos said "Anime."

This is how Ford became convinced that anime is some sort of Hardy Boys style, genre spanning, multi creator, decades long work of interconnected fiction, and dedicated multiple hours to trying to piece together a full timeline of events.
