Hello! You may call me Elouan, I'm 18 and I use he/him pronouns (ftm). I have been a hellenic polytheist since around 2022-23. Lord Apollon is my patron deity and I am devoted to him, but I do also consistently worship other Gods as well. Most of my blog will thus probably be centered around the deities I worship but I may occasionally reblog or post things related to Gods I may not regularly worship. I respect and honour all of the Gods, even if I may not actively worship them at this current time.

I am a huge fan of various sports, zoology, mythology, theatre (esp. musicals), marvel comics (getting a little into DC), and pokemon as well!

I don't really have a DNI list, and I don't usually block people. I just request for everyone to be respectful and kind. If you align yourself with right-wing politics or ideology, however, please go fuck youself. Intolerance should not be tolerated in any space.

Halfway through making an offering for Lady Athena and my desires in my latest prayers to her were realised. I am so relieved and happy in ways that words could not fully exemplify.

the Gods are ancient; they understand. do not compare yourself to an "ideal worshipper" because the ideal worshipper for the relationship you built will only ever be yourself

Digital Altar / Worship Ideas

This is very much a non-exhaustive list but I did want to share some of the things I've tried out over the years, as someone who never really had much physical space for worship.

Using games like Animal Crossing or Minecraft as interaction alters/shrines. (Personally I've used Minecraft with mods to create altars, and stored written prayers within the game's books.)

Alternatively, if you do not wish to spend time getting resources for specific decorative items, or cannot afford to pay for games, apps/websites like Rooms and Gogh (free on mobile) allow you to create your own customised digital spaces.

Create themed websites with tools like Rentry or Carrd, you may also choose to upload prayers or store resources on it similar to how many people use Tumblr for digital altars. If you'd prefer something more private, try journalling apps/sites or use private/personal discord servers to store images, resources, notes regarding your deities (ability to use separate channels for different deities.)

This one picrew allows you to create a static image of an altar/shrine.

Create digital art of your deities, there are free softwares and websites for different sorts of digital art (pixel etc.) if you cannot pay for one!

For the more musically-inclined, there are websites/softwares that allow you to create your own music that you may dedicate to the Gods. Games like Genshin Impact (free) and Webfishing (paid) allow you to play custom music in game.

Dedicating music playlists to your Gods, playing them through during prayers or devotional activities

Dedicating Pinterest boards or creating moodboards for your Gods.

A lot of readings can be done online! Learn more about your deities and the religion through online resources that are usually free and available to the public.

Write prayers, poems, or other devotional messages for your deities online, on sites like Google Docs, Microsoft Word etc.

There are for sure things that I'm missing out on/forgetting at the moment, and feel free to add on whatever you've tried before. Feel free to ask for clarifications on anything as well.

I feel Him when the first morning rays skitter gently across my skin, a greeting that illuminates and introduces my every day.

I feel Him when the afternoon sun beats down relentlessly across my back, crashing heavy and harsh, yet only a sliver of His true might.

I feel Him, even when the sun hides from view, for every pleasure shall be in moderation.

He is with me when my stories and poems spill and pool at the tip of my pen, He is the creativity that springs within.

He is with me when my fingers pull quick against the strings of my lyre, and my music dedicated to Him, eternal.

I see Him, in the murals and sculptures scattered across the otherwise mundane cityscape, and in the music of the street buskers that float above the crowds of office workers.

For Lord Apollon is within every facet of my life, and His strength I call upon in my times of need.

There is something so beautiful and sweet to me about the fact that Thanatos is the god of peaceful death.

When I die, I want Death to greet me as an old, childhood friend - unknown yet so familiar, intimidating yet so comforting. I want Death to take me gently by the hand, whisper in my ear, "It'll be alright," and help me stand to my feet as I walk towards a new life - a different kind of life - in a place I may have seen in a dream once.

I hope Thanatos greets me, in my final moments, with the softness and sweetness of an old friend. To me, that is peaceful. And it's so beautiful that he is so willing to provide such comforts to humans in their official transition from one plane of existence to the next. How kind, how compassionate, how admirable.

Death is a friend, in the end, and he smiles softly as he takes your hand.

Overwhelmingly the image of Hestia I see shared here is a soft, cozy, pie and tea and sweaters vibe, and while I'm not knocking that at all, I've always been drawn to a harder, firmer aspect of Hestia that people don't seem to focus on much. There's a disciplined, practical, well-ordered side to her that has always given me a lot of comfort, the kind that comes with hard work and a tidy home. But even beyond that, perhaps the aspect of Hestia that I love most is the unbending, stern, protective guardian at the door, the goddess who provides safety and privacy, curtains and locked doors, a setter of boundary lines and protector of property; Hestia the immovable warden who keeps out, the balancing side to Hestia the generous host who welcomes in.

I dont think there's a better representation of this side of Hestia than that of Lillian Gish's iconic scene in Night of the Hunter where, to protect the orphans she's taken in from the predations of Robert Mitchum's evil preacher, she keeps an unflagging night-long vigil by her door, seated in a rocking chair, loaded rifle in hand, calmly singing hymns.

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on and praise Hestia in this less-celebrated but equally worthy and necessary role, one that is particularly important to me.
