Okay this ad campaign is actually great and every time I see it in a Tube station I laugh a little bit because it just reminds you how terrifically bizarre the human race is
This is the best post Iāve ever seen in my life.
Hahaha this checks out. I visited the Louisa May Alcott house in Concord, MA recently. Louisa had absolutely zero interest in getting married and the only reason that Jo ever got married in Little Women (volume 2) was because there was SO much public outcry for it from her readers. Her publisher ultimately told her that she had to marry Jo off. However, she absolutely put her foot down against Jo marrying Laurie, and made her marry the old foreign professor instead.Ā
Also if youāre ever in the area, I highly recommend checking her house out! It was a delightful experience! She really did base so much of Little Women off of her family and sisters, so it feels like youāre stepping inside of the book. You can see Lizzieās (aka Bethās) piano and Abigailās (aka Amyās) drawings all over the wallpaper. There is even a costume box that the sisters used to put on their plays in the parlor.Ā
iāve had a lot of people ask if iām leading the #readwomen december reading challenge this year. after thinking about it, my answer is no. instead, iāve decided to create a #readthemargin (marginalized authors) december reading challenge. obviously, women are a marginalized group, but i think itās important to read other marginalized authors, especially in the wake of the new US president-elect and his discriminatory attitudes towards anyone who is not a straight, white, wealthy, able-bodied male. art saves in times of great oppression and it is imperative that we be aware of and support marginalized authors during these times.
guidelines:
starts december 1st, 2016 and ends january 1st, 2017. (you may, of course, begin sooner than that, but ideally everyone will start by this date.)
read books only by marginalized authors. (marginalized people are those who have been pushed to the margins and forgotten because they do not meet the status quo. this includes groups like women, the queer community, people of color, disabled people, muslim and jewish people, etc.)
this is an individual reading challenge where you make the rules and adjust where need be. if you have to read books by non-marginalized authors for school or book clubs, thatās OK. what matters is that the majority of your recreational reading goes towards #readthemargin.
optional but suggested: contribute by making a book recommendation post for other participants so they can find books by marginalized authors.
optional but suggested: post pictures of what youāre reading!
optional but suggested: post a weekly reading log to let us know how youāre doing with the challenge.
if you make any posts relating to this reading challenge, make sure itās tagged as readthemargin. carry this over to other platforms such as twitter and instagram so we can find you there, too.
HAVE FUN!!!Ā

iām watching Bee Movie for the first time
iām 1 minute and 30 seconds in
aāight so this main character is supposed to be a male bee but he uses a pencil sharpener to sharpen his stinger but male bees donāt have stingers?
he got a mom and dad but the queen supposed to be the only one procreating so what is the truth?
a'ight so this a whole society of bees that feel obligated to walk and drive instead of fly
he just became disillusioned with the capitalist system itās bout to be some shit
youād figure this movie would have more woman characters considering as how female bees are the ones who do all the work but ok
i know too much about bees to watch this movie
Do you think Joe Biden has ever texted Obama a meme
