some of u need to delete twitter and just fucking read articles. i did some very uhmm nerd activities for 2 yrs in school and spent time researching international stuff every day, here are the news/informational sites that i consider to be the best (unbiased, accurate, analytic, etc) and how to read them:
don’t forget to research the publications themselves, al jazeera for example is great but don’t expect to find criticism of Qatar because they’re funded by their government. every good news site has to get funding from somewhere, meaning they likely have a big corporation on the board/providing funding, which is why it’s important to read more than one. also, sites like ap news or reuters are great for information/updates, but only reading those and not anything more analytical is harmful. and not every journalist is the same, just because they’re writing for a good publication doesn’t mean they’re a good journalist. anyways here’s the list
al jazeera, ap news, center for strategic and international studies, council on foreign relations, vox news , south china morning post, reuters, the diplomat, the atlantic, the economist, yale journal of international affairs, npr, the guardian, international consortium of investigative journalists, statista, global slavery index, asia times, africa check, nasa climate, intergovernmental panel on climate change (reports)
My Hogwarts House book recs
Okay, ever since some of my favorite booktubers made posts like these many a year ago, I always wanted to make a book rec list like this because I still genuinely do like the Hogwarts Houses. Enjoy!
Gryffindor
Graceling by Kristen Cashore - she walked so these new fantasy girlies could run, fantasy kingdom with assassin main character, the original ya high fantasy killer girlboss imo
A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin - all of the sympathetic leads are classic heroes (dany, jon, arya), adventure and politics and battle and dragons, nuanced outlooks on honor
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - ww2 novel, deals with the french resistance during the occupation, hit every spot in my cold black heart, emphasis on sisterhood and endurance
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - what is bravery if not a broke woman telling a rich man to get a grip, og strong female lead overcoming many challenges, criticisms of polite society
Hufflepuff
Crave by Tracy Wolff - big on found family, paranormal romance shenanigans in a boarding school, somewhat satire, unserious and just very wholesome, steeped in nostalgia uwu
All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir - unapologetically written to heal and explore trauma, cathartic, wholesome and pure relationships, emphasis on self-growth and overcoming abuse and pain
The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali - historical, about the value of relationships in war and hardship, themes of growth and acceptance and promises, beautiful story
The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic - what happens when you let a bunch of mentally ill kids play a made up sport, angsty but feels like a big hug, contemporary fiction, just genius ok
Ravenclaw
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake - very slytherclaw, philosophy and physics as the basis, dark academia urban fantasy, character-driven, multiple POVs, morally grey academics
Babel by RF Kuang - this book has been likened to a history textbook, by a nerd girlie for the nerd girlies, linguistics and languages, super well-researched, condemns colonization
Disorientation by Elain Hsieh Chou - witty and sharp narration and dialogue, set in academia and deals with east asian literature, satire and black comedy, explores racial fetishization
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov - only a ravenclaw could appreciation its complexity, so many literary references, stylistically immaculate, lots of room to debate its message and themes
Slytherin

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde - my man makes a deal with the devil for eternal youth and beauty, everyone here is morally dubious, murder and orgies and philosophy
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - exhausted woman does what she needs to do, female rage book, does some interesting things with pov, justified evil, amy dunne is insane and it's great
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao - tired chinese woman does what she needs to do and kills men, very unhinged queen behavior, ambition and god complexes, pacific rim but in china
Real talk tho: I'm all for women being badass and getting shit done but Dany is just blunt crazy and irrational
Okay but real talk that is not how Arya was characterized the last few seasons something's off and I believe either her reunion with Sansa or Gendry will reveal that
You told me I'm important to you. You said I was one of the coolest people you've ever met. You said you didn't want ruin me. You kissed me like there was no tomorrow. There wasn't.
in that moment when archie was spewing blood and definitely in a huge amount of pain but just kept trying to break the ice to save cheryls life, my respect for him increased so much
What actually happened when the southside serpents knocked on the door:
Can I just say this episode made fall in love with Archie so much?
him.
There are so many people I crash into every day but seeing him peaks out of all the other encounters very single day.
Not like a crush, not like a real wish to be together, but a deep fondness of each other.
Nothing about this relationship that barely counts as one is real, it’s a simple spark in between everything else.
But despite everything else, it’s a calming force in the thriving mess that’s constantly surrounding me.
It’s a sense of peace in the steady chaos in this life.
Nights like this were the worst. Nights were the silence in the house wasn’t because of the peaceful slumber of its inhabitants but because all the energy in it had been drained by the screaming before.
Without making any noise, she climbed out of her bed and opened the window that led into the night. A few soft moves and she was outside, feeling the nightly breeze in the hair.
Her thoughts brew like a storm inside her head, leaving no more room for fatigue. It was way past midnight but she knew that he would be awake, writing and brooding into the night, like he always did.
Her legs swiftly carried her to his location and without actually realizing, she knocked at his window, hoping he’d be in his usual spot. A few seconds later, he opened the front door to his house, giving her a questioning look. Before he could ask her about her visit, he recognized a familiar expression of exhaustion and quickly pulled her into a hug. “What happened?”
No longer able to hold back, a few tears escaped her eyes, followed by a quiet sob.
His arms still wrapped around her, he kissed her on the forehead, trying to offer as much consolation as possible. To his concern, she remained quiet, so he pulled her inside his house and upstairs, into his room, never letting go of her hand.
After sitting down, she quickly wrapped her arms around herself, trying to shield herself from the outside world. Her seemingly endless flow of tears had stopped but her emotionless face was even more unsettling to him.
“Talk to me”, he pleaded quietly when she refused to speak. An uncomfortable silence fell on them which neither of them knew how to break.
He almost gave up on hearing a word from her when she suddenly spoke up.
“I can’t go back home.”
“What happened?”
“The screaming, the fighting, the pain, I don’t think I can stand it another minute. All I can think of is the smell of booze and the white dust of whatever they bought in another dark alley”, she took a deep breath, “they don’t want me anymore.”
His eyebrows raised at her confession and his hand searched hers again. “What do you mean?”
“They told me to leave and never come back. They want me gone by tomorrow.”
The lack of emotion in her voice scared him but he failed to find reassuring words for her situation. Instead, he pulled her into a hug again which she gladly accepted. “Stay here, alright? We’ll pick up your stuff together.”
A silent sob escaped her mouth again and she shivered at her best friends’ words. “No, I can’t put this burden on you.”
“You are not a burden and it was not a question.”
“I can’t. I just…I can’t stay with you.”
Irritated, he cupped her face. “Why not?”
Softly, she closed her eyes while another tear rolled down her eyes. Everything in her body wanted to tell him, confess that she couldn’t stand being near him without caressing his face, hugging his torso or kissing his lips. But no, she couldn’t tell him when he was her safe haven, her last piece of happiness. She simply couldn’t risk it.
“Hey, why can’t you?”, he repeated his question with a worried expression. His fingers softly cupped her chin, forcing her to look at him. “Live here, with me.”
“I’m afraid of what I’ll say if I do”, she confessed quietly with closed eyes. Somehow, she had hoped he would accept his answer but obviously, he didn’t.
“What do you mean?”
A frown forced its way onto her face. “I might admit that I love you. But I won’t because you’ll push me away and I can’t live without my best friend.”
Her eyes flew open and panicked she starred at him. “Forget what I said, I didn’t mean to say that!”
Surprisingly, he smiled at her, not in a mocking but amused way. Her face still in his hands, he closed the distance between them and kissed her as softly as possible.
When they broke apart, she starred at him with a star-struck expression. “Too bad because then I’d say that I feel the same.”
I low-key loved how Archie and Betty are interacting again and being besties again
I have a feeling that FP might die

What kind of laptop does Jughead even use? Like..he never charges it?
Over the years I’ve been into philosophy and ethics the subject of morality was never of big interest to me.
Surely, I’ve given it some thought but I never entirely indulged into it. Not due the lack of interest or simple ignorance but because of my utter belief that my morals were unquestionable.
But concerning recent events and a book which influenced me immensely I’ve come to be very much involved with said topic. Not only do I wonder how and if principles and morals which have been a constant force in my upbringing can be changed, I do ask myself how privilege plays a part in it.
If one is given a specific privilege over another how does it affect ones actions and if so, why?
Does privilege make us more indifferent towards moral obligations or does it simply change that?
Why is it that the most indifferent people towards morality are the most privileged ones?
One could argue that it is due to the freedom and power privilege provides, however, my beliefs differ deeply from that.
Privilege does not only offer power and freedom, to me it offers ignorance. Ignorance towards everything which isn’t included in said privilege. Being suddenly involved into this subject so deeply, I not only fear but deeply despise the thought of my morals being influenced so easily and deeply by a simple matter like privilege which is why the ignorqance it provides not only scares me but angers me to the core of my heart.
The concept of morality is a construction of human ideologies. Although a high percentage of the population believes in it, it is striking how little of us actually execute it.
The concept itself seems to be so deeply intertwined with our humanity that we constantly try to move within its borders. Given that, one could wonder what would happen if we try to reach outside of these borders. Even though it is avoided, people are fascinated by the ones who do manage to reach beyond those unspoken rules and live within oral concepts solely made up by themselves. Yet, this fascination involves such a conflict in us that we try everything possible to disconnect ourselves from it.
