I have attained Thoughts from the newest issue of paralactic beginnings.
Ok so. Just, looking at what they're doing with Taizo and Kyohma, it seems like they're more willing to brush closer with queer themes in the manga than they have been in recent anime (Like, the yaoi is strong in these two, significantly more so than in the anime where it was lightly implied, now it's extremely heavy on the implication.) This, paired with a pretty clear Yuri angle coming from Ghost meets Gal, seems to suggest they're more willing to be at least somewhat explicit in queer rep in their manga than the main anime.
And that's making me wonder things. If you have followed this blog, you probably have a guess as to what things I might wonder.
Cause, Yuyu hasn't been mentioned or even implied at this point in the arc, and while it's possible to have them not there by virtue of being in Paris, it feels kinda weird to just not have the first D series protagonist play a role in the arc that ends the D series, y'know?
And I'm thinking. Something that would most likely position Yuyu as in favor of the fantome reality compared to the original reality, could be not wanting to go back in the closet.
I've seen a really good design of a Lyrical Fantome Yuyu based on a mix of the First Dress manga (Which also was a manga that went a lot further with queer themes than the concurrent anime, so, one more point to that theory) and the cross dress design from season 1, so that may have inspired this at least partially, but I don't know, it just feels like it would make sense?
A version of Yuyu who was able to come out and live openly as herself, it feels like that would put her in a situation where she'd be willing to fight for this world, compared to one where, sure, she's happy, she has friends, but she's also still stuck in the closet.
I don't know, I really like the idea of a Yuyu who's more open with herself, and the manga's most recent chapter has reignited hope that it could be possible.
