"I'm still kicking" is such a funny way to say "I'm still alive". Like lol. I'm still thrashing. Flailing. Writhing even. The violence remains.

Iâve been working through some feelings lately.
Hey there, Minnesotan here.
Are you outside of Minnesota, but want to know whatâs going on with the ICE occupation? Check out:
On Site a local independent news organization covering accurate news here.
Toussaint Morrison, who writes for On Site but has a lot of good coverage
Georgia Fort, an independent journalist covering whatâs happening on the ground
1/15/26: Adding Chad Davisâ blog here, a photographer documenting whatâs going on in Minneapolis
And of course, the videos being posted directly to social media from people on the ground.
National news is not covering everything thatâs happening here. (Almost like thatâs on purpose.) But these are helpful, local sources to Minnesota to provide an accurate depiction of whatâs really happening here.
Are you outside of Minnesota and looking to help?
Donate to the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee
MN ICE Watch not only sends updates about federal activity, but also highlights individuals affected where you can donate or send help to our neighbors impacted by ICE.
Stand With Minnesota highlights a lot of places to offer financial support and mutual aid.
These links go to those sourcesâ Instagram profiles or websites. And I will edit this post with more, itâll remain a living document.
A final note: You may have seen posts on social media about what itâs like here. Believe them. It is that bad. It is that scary. They are kicking doors down. They are demanding to see identity papers if youâre simply walking on the street.
My sister is a teacher, and they were driving around her school yesterday. A middle school.
They are offering people money to out undocumented immigrants or protest organizers. That link is a firsthand account of someone who was detained, and asked those very questions.
They are taking our neighbors.
This is an occupation.
I donât have a lot of followers, so hoping the tags can help spread this far and wide.
if you start reading books again. you will feel at least a little better. I promise
This is very true
no i dont want to âask chatgptâ i want to go to a wikipedia page and spend half an hour reading an article like a real person
In case people don't realize the full extent of what's going on, we are under siege in Minnesota. I live in an affluent, majority white suburb of Minneapolis, and ICE is all over the place terrorizing people. They showed up at the library, kitted out in their Temu tactical gear, and stormed it.
The library. Please let that sink in.
They've pulled weapons on legal observers and physically attacked them. They're threatening teenagers and children with death. One woman told a story at my, again, affluent, majority white suburban town's city council meeting this week of being shoved from behind so hard that she fell down by an ICE agent, who then said to her, "Stop touching me." A man, in tears and begging for our city government to do something to help our neighbors, described having a baton pulled on him. They're luring people out of their workplaces with lies about "hitting someone's car in the parking lot" and then abducting them. Citizens and legal residents are being detained. People are being racially profiled and snatched. A teenager (a US citizen) working at Target got dragged out and shoved in a car, then dumped a mile away in a Wal-mart parking lot, beaten up and crying. And all of this is after they murdered Renee Good.
I don't emphasize the demographics of my particular suburb to say "but this shouldn't be happening here, we have money!" but to illustrate that the Trump administration has declared war on a US state. Even if you stick your head in the sand because you're white and won't be directly targeted, ICE is running traffic lights, speeding, tearing the wrong way on one way streets, and causing nasty accidents because they think they're above the law. They think it doesn't matter who they hurt or kill, because they're being told straight from the top that they can do whatever they want to whoever they want.
We are all under attack, and this is coming to a city near you if we don't stand up to it. Please stand with Minnesota, as well as LA, Portland, Chicago, and every other place DHS has sent their COD cosplay gestapo. I don't know what that looks like for you but please, please, don't ignore this.
"Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I'm sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor: Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But thatâs not the only thing thatâs going on:
ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, thatâs because it is.
ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because itâs unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks arenât getting their cancer care, etc.
They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americansâagain, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.) I canât emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone thatâs not white. It doesnât matter if youâre a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later. But the community is fighting back.
Protests are happening every day.
Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, Iâm standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers donât have to take the risk of coming to work.
Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who donât feel safe leaving home.
Mutual aid money is going out to folks who canât make rent because they canât work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their homeâs windows were smashed. THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and itâs horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, donât think for a minute that this wonât happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Donât let us get to the last line of Martin Niemollerâs poem.â -Grant Boulanger
