Back in the Isles, she had bonded with a mysterious owl palisman who led her to an ancient discovery: glyphs — forgotten symbols that could channel magic even without a coven or staff.

Armed with her palisman, a growing knowledge of glyphs, and a fierce will to protect, Kira begins carving her own path. She’s not a hero by their standards. She’s not a villain either. She’s something new — a bridge between worlds, a spark of rebellion, and a symbol of hope for those who don’t fit in.

"Who said I was powerless without my staff?!" she yells at her supposed peers face turning red looking like tomato.

But as both worlds begin to take notice — the Emperor’s Coven hunting her from one side, and Pro Heroes questioning her from the other — Kira must decide who she wants to be.

"So they’re the heroes and I’m the villain? For what — surviving in a world that never wanted me?"

With her palisman perched on her shoulder and glyphs glowing in her hands, Kira is ready to rewrite the rules of both magic and heroism.

Chapter 2:

Hours later, they sat in a quiet room at the local child services office. Their clothes had been replaced with dry, donated ones. A social worker named Ms. Harrow sat across from them, her expression soft but firm.

“You’re not in trouble,” she said gently. “But we need to understand where you came from. You don’t have any records. No guardians. And those tattoos…”

Emma looked down, silent. Ray stared at the floor. Norman finally spoke.

“We can’t go back.”

Ms. Harrow nodded slowly. “Then we’ll find somewhere safe for you. A foster home.”

The door creaked open.

A couple stepped in—older, smiling too perfectly. Mr. and Mrs. Lanchester.Their eyes scanned the trio, pausing on Emma.

“She reminds me of Lia,” Mr. Lanchester said softly. “Our youngest.”

Emma blinked. Lia?

Mrs. Lanchester smiled warmly. “We’ll take them.”

Ray narrowed his eyes. Norman’s expression didn’t change, but his mind was already racing.

Emma felt her lungs lighten. She’d never had a dad before. She hugged Mr. Lanchester without thinking.

Norman watched the couple carefully. Why would people their age adopt three kids at once? Something didn’t add up.

Ray didn’t trust them. Their smiles were too smooth. Too famiLiar. He’d seen that expression before—on people who pretended to care.

And somewhere in the house, Lia waited.

Ray stood stiffly on the porch, eyes scanning the couple who had just signed the papers to adopt them. Mr. and Mrs. Lanchester smiled warmly, their expressions almost too perfect. Ray had seen smiles like that before—ones that didn’t quite reach the eyes. He didn’t trust it. Not yet.

Inside, the house was cozy, filled with framed photos of smiling children and family vacations. Emma’s eyes sparkled as she took it all in. She hadn’t felt this kind of warmth in years. When Mr. Lanchester wrapped her in a hug, she melted into it, tears prickling her eyes. “You remind me so much of our youngest,” he said softly. “She used to hug just like that.”

Emma smiled, unsure what to say. She’d never had a dad before. Not a real one.

Norman, ever the observer, noticed the subtle oddities. The couple was older—well into their sixties—and had raised three children already. Why adopt again? And why three kids at once? Still, the house was safe, the food was warm, and the beds were soft. For now, that was enough.

Chapter 1 : Straight to the point

It was weird.

Emma shivered, her soaked clothes clinging to her skin, the chill biting through her bones. Ray and Norman stayed close, their bodies pressed against hers like instinct—like survival. The walls around them were solid, protective, but the air was thick with unease. They looked like frightened children, wet and pale, their white clothes now stained grey from rain and dirt.

The adults didn’t seem to care.

They sat behind the reception desk, indifferent, heads down, waiting for someone—anyone—to claim the trio. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, casting a sterile glow over the scene.

“It’s almost seven. Why the hell is no one picking these kids up?” a man muttered, scratching his neck.

The receptionist shrugged, not even looking up. “I told you to call the cops. They don’t look normal.”

Her eyes flicked toward the trio’s necks—where the tattoos were. Numbers. Branding. Shame.

Ray’s jaw clenched. Norman’s fingers twitched. Emma’s stomach knotted.

The man sighed and pulled out his phone. “Yeah, no one picked them up.”

Emma stared at the floor, her thoughts spiraling. Were they abandoned again? Were they still being hunted?

Emma clenched her fists under the table, her knuckles white. The fluorescent lights above flickered slightly, casting eerie shadows across the linoleum floor. She glanced sideways at Ray, who was staring blankly at the wall, and Norman, whose calm demeanor was cracking, his fingers twitching nervously.

The man on the phone stepped away, muttering something to the dispatcher. The receptionist kept eyeing them, suspicion thick in her gaze. Emma could feel it—every adult in the room saw them as strange, broken, maybe even dangerous.

She leaned in closer to her friends. “We can’t stay here,” she whispered, voice barely audible. “They’re going to find out.”

Ray nodded slowly. “We need a distraction. Something to get us out before they start asking real questions.”

Norman’s eyes lit up with a spark of his old brilliance. “The fire alarm,” he murmured. “If we trigger it, the chaos might give us a chance.”

Emma looked around. The alarm panel was across the room, behind the reception desk. Risky, but possible.

Before she could respond, the man returned, phone still in hand. “They’re sending someone,” he said. “Should be here in ten.”

Ten minutes.

Emma stood up suddenly, wobbling slightly. “Excuse me,” she said, voice trembling but firm. “I need to use the bathroom.”

The receptionist raised an eyebrow but pointed down the hall. “End of the corridor.”

Emma walked slowly, heart pounding, then broke into a sprint the moment she turned the corner.

Emma’s fingers trembled as she reached the fire alarm. She hesitated for just a second—then pulled it.

The shrill scream of the alarm filled the building. Red lights flashed. Adults scrambled, confused and irritated, some shouting over the noise. The receptionist stood up, trying to calm the chaos, while the man with the phone cursed and looked around for the kids.

Ray and Norman didn’t wait. As soon as the alarm went off, they grabbed their bags and ran toward the hallway where Emma had disappeared. They met her halfway, breathless.

“This way!” Emma pointed to the emergency exit.

They pushed through the door and into the cold evening air. Rain still poured, soaking them again as they sprinted down the alley behind the building. But they didn’t get far.

A police cruiser turned the corner, lights flashing. Another pulled up behind them. The trio froze, cornered.

“Hands where we can see them!” an officer shouted.

Emma raised her hands slowly, her heart sinking. Ray and Norman did the same. There was no escape now.

I don’t care if this fandom is Dead I am making a fic causs I have maternal Instinct for these goofballs. Plus I made over 10 chapters.
