Hera is the Regina George of the goddesses
All Hera could do was tighten her jaw in silence as her king threw daggers at her pride. Every word that cascaded from his gate was a spear inside her, “Well done my King, you must inform me the name of the tutor that has evolved your insults into eloquent poetry. Hephaestus has enlightened me of his desire of developing his speech farther.” She fired back, insuring that the insult was wrapped with a warm compliment. “You are right, it would be a pleasure for you not to push me aside in front of them, yet that is not what I am asking of you.” Hera softened her cold features giving the allusion of longing as she continued, ” All I have ever desired for you is to reign longer than the scum of a father we share and you cannot do that if you do not display unity beginning with the woman you lie next to. I apologize if my words did not reveal my intentions clearly; I know we will not agree in every decision but all ask is that those disagreements are held behind close doors.” Hera stepped closer to her husband lightly caressing his cheeks. “Do you recall the vow I told you on our wedding night—I mean to keep it.” She whispered lightly before placing a gentle caress upon his rough cheek.
Oh, how he hated when Hera played this game. Then again, maybe he didn’t hate it at all. She knew she couldn’t control him by brute force, so she pulled this. This…act of docile nature, all with the pretenses of a loving wife. He knew better than that;he knew that this was only a ploy to attempt to bring him to her side, so he would let his neutrality slip away. However, Zeus knew better than to let sentiments take hold of him…so why does he have the urge to humor her, to take her side anyway? “No tutors, Hera. Contrary to propaganda, There is intelligence to the lightning and thunder.” Of course, the mention of Cronos caused the king to tense, his jaw visibly tightening. “As diplomatic as you seem, this cannot be. Unfortunately, this conflict lies outside of you and I. Otherwise, you might have swayed me. However, if you, too, chose a more neutral approach, we would look both unified and wiser. Surely you know that this is key to the throne. We handle conflicts this large with thought, not spite. It’s a shame—you wear the latter so well, my queen.” A rough hand is lifted to hold her jaw, to tilt her head so she can look him in the eyes. Mental banter, challenges, this waltz of power…it was this that he loved.
She knew if she fought back she would only prove him right. After a millennia together she knew Zeus better than he knew himself. She knew when he would be gentle, have affairs, go against her, or attempt to manipulate her, he had become as predictable as the sun and moon. "You are right I should attempt to be more neutral like yourself, never get involved in such petty disputes, yet I find it difficult to ignore the insignificant leech when he dares to question our honor and your rule, but perhaps my crown has taken its toll and I have become too severe with my positions, after all I was always suppose to be a mere virgin goddess." She professed calmly, her jaw still locked inside his hands. Hera knew that at this point it was useless to argue with him he choose to stand back and be neutral; she,of course, would honor his decision in front of all the critiques and followers; but when darkness came and there were no stars insight to watch and the moon had decided to dim its light she would attack the parasite whilst sleeping soundly next to her husband. If Zeus wanted play who was she to deny her king? " I will take your side on the issue my husband, for a wife's job is to honor her husband in every way."

It gave Hera great pleasure to see how the worm squirmed at a mere glimpse of her power. Yet the goddess could not help to observe the fabrication his panic had abruptly released,”Why must you lie to me, cup bearer?” She asked, as her porcelain face displayed a mocking concern. “Do you find me weak? Are you a leader and my eyes have failed to see the influence you exhibit? Or a better question would be, do you honestly believe Zeus will put you before me?” A thick silence fell between them as her last question fell between them. Hera did not quiver, she stood her ground expecting answers.
" Do as I say or perhaps it will not be Zeus who discards you, for he will be too gentle."
"I answered you truthfully and you disregarded it so I gave the answer I thought you wanted." He answered, his whole body tensing as if ready to run at the slightest movement from her. "I have no illusions as to where I stand with our Lord. You are his Queen, his only queen."
He was tempted to tell her that being discarded would be a kindness. But the coward in him knew better than to tempt her into actually doing it.
"You don't know what I desire." She replied coldly, her glare stagnant as she continued her assault. it was very odd for Hera to be viciously honest with someone other than Zeus, she would usually hide her contempt against her antagonists with an elegant smile, but perhaps it was the fact that she knew Ganymede was powerless against any gods that gave her the courage to showcase the darkness she hid behind her porcelain mask. "I want results not words!"
She could see it in his clear mirrors, he was attempting to hide a feeling, but at that moment she couldn't careless what angst he pursued to harbor."If it comes to the point where I must do more than have a discussion of this with you, we will have a problem."
It was all written on his face, the paranoia, the doubt, the hesitation— To Hera, Zeus did not look like a man prepared for the joys of fatherhood. As goddess of women Hera had seen this doubt in many families; she was first witness the anguish it caused when a man did not want to be a father. It always pained her to see how her followers would pray for change and relief, but somethings were written in fate and everyone knew fate was resolute. Hera bowed her head in pursuit to mask her disappointment with respect. ” I’m glad her ladies in waiting are there for her, but from my experience woman often want to be with their husbands when they are with child. This is to create a bond…a family.” She urged, hoping that Zeus saw the connotations behind her words. “Of course, please ask away.”
The king felt much more than doubt; he was absolutely drained by the mere notion of Metis giving birth. All that Zeus had ever been meant to do was to overthrow his father, to rule over the other gods because he was told that he was the only one who could do it. His family needed him, and he would have to step forward and bear the responsibility that Cronos couldn’t handle. Now, he was beginning to learn the hard way that in order to stay king, sacrifices had to be made. Were they his sacrifices to make? That was what left him so disoriented and so eager to abandon his wife. His eyes flicker up to meet Hera’s and his blue eyes look even bluer, as if a storm has been stirred in the iris of the ruler. Perhaps it has. Zeus swallows before finally asking his question. “Do you think I am a good king…?”
It was always about being king to him, she realized that the day of his coronation, she could see his excitement that day but also his determination to keep the crown on his head only; but like everyone else on that grand morning the virgin goddess decided it was best to ignore such detail for Olympus finally had a worthy king. Besides they could have had it worse, Poseidon could have been the ruler. “Of course you are; you are a great king,” she retorted without any hesitation or odd pitch in tone. “I hope you become an even better father.” Perhaps she could not change fate but she could at least say she tried.”Now my dear brother I do not mean to be rude or belittle your time, but the mortal world needs me and I have some prayers I must answer.” Hera continued while she reached out and wrapped her thin arms around he brother, “Take care of Metis.” She whispered softly in his hear.

Hera returned her daughter’s words with an insidious smirk, “Since you say there is no manipulation, I suppose this request will not have a price.” Hera proposed guarding herself against the trickery of Eris. “Also, my sweet child I implore you make this tragedy seem as another twisted game played by fate.”
"Why wouldn’t I? Obvious torment is boring me of late, Mother. I think I’m falling back into the ‘cruel world’ phase again. It feeds me when mortals despair. And as far as the ‘sweet lovers’ know, they have not lost their favor with the Gods.”
"These two offend me as well as you Mother. Even more that I know they prefer Aphrodite.”
Her features hardened at the mention of Aphrodite, Hera had never approved of the goddess of love and beauty. There was something about her fabricated dimness that made Hera squirm in loathing. Of course Hera the queen and goddess would never admit to such disgust publicly, but at the moment the goddess was not wearing her mask, “Please do not mention the heifer, I have a luncheon today and she will ,of course, be there with her legs wide open.” Hera smiled at her daughters words, she had always envied Eris’ freedom to do anything she desired with out the worry of there ever being any retribution; what a beautiful eternity her daughter must live, “When ever you go on one of your “phases”, my destructive creation, there is a huge decrease in human population and the violence insuppressible. What is your conniving mind up to?”
She heaved away an exasperated breath—was she not queen? Was her throne there just for decoration, and her crown was it only made to sit on her skull because it complemented the golden flecks in her eyes? The answer to all these questions was no. She was queen. Her throne was there to showcase her authority and her crown complemented her power not just her deceiving mirrors. And she would not allow an ant to give her wavering answers, “I do not recall asking if you can do what I commanded; do as I say or I’ll make sure that Zeus speeds up the process of breaking his favorite toy. I know my husband has a habit of discarding his possessions once they become flaccid and useless.” A rough iron like smirk curled upon her features, “Also never correct me.”
"I-" He paused. He couldn’t explain to her that he couldn’t influence Lord Zeus one way or the other. And he couldn’t tell her that encouraging the king god to dispose of him would be the fullfillment of everything he’d wished for since he was first abducted.
So instead he bowed low before her. “Forgive my impertinence, I will do as you say.”
It gave Hera great pleasure to see how the worm squirmed at a mere glimpse of her power. Yet the goddess could not help to observe the fabrication his panic had abruptly released,"Why must you lie to me, cup bearer?" She asked, as her porcelain face displayed a mocking concern. "It's quite alright Gaia, I understood your words. Tell me how have you been what troubles have you gotten into since are last chat? " Hera queried teasingly.
