I made a kitty pencil case from my Pinterest board. Sewing is not my strong suit and I wanted to try to create something cute from scratch. It’s hand stitched and let me tell you, putting on those snap fasteners was no easy task! Even so, I’m glad I pushed forward and finished it up. It took the better part of a free day. Heres a link to the tutorial: http://www.handmadiya.com/2015/11/sewing-organizer-bag-tutorial.html
The first week of Project clean was also tackled fairly painlessly because we keep a fairly organized kitchen. In case you were looking to follow along with that, the link for the challenge is here: http://www.home-storage-solutions-101.com/organized-home.html
My third goal this week was to start a blog. S’up?
I also wanted to start a recipe book of my own. A friend of mine mentioned her distaste of them because of how messy kitchens often get while she is cooking and the pages become a sticky mess. My take on a recipe book is that it should be in a binder, easy to recognize and laminated. While my pages are laminated, the book isn’t exactly easy to recognize because it is in a black binder. Amongst everything else that is black on my bookshelf. Black is great, sleek and classy, but not exactly stand out :P So, I found one that you can stick a piece of paper into for a cover and put a piece of art into it for easy recognition.
My first recipe is Hawaiian style slow cooker chicken which has three ingredients - your favorite BBQ sauce (16oz) crushed pineapple (8oz) and 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts cooked on high for 3-4 hours, or low 5-6 hours. Bon apetit!
Which brings me to my next goal, one Don’t Starve themed art. Which is the one that is on black card stock done in Sakura gelly rolls (one of my true love art supplies).
Also~ I have to go on a mini-gush session to promote the hell out of Don’t Starve. I freaking love this game. It’s easy to spend many hours building yourself up to survive an unforgiving world. I love the art, the color schemes and even the ambient sounds of the game are right up my alley. It’s not an over complicated game, and it comes with a co-op mode, Don’t Starve Together, that is a ton of fun to play. If you get a chance - do it.
3 doodles this week lead to me creating my first original character of the year - Snowflake Obsidian. She is a spin off of the Steven Universe fan base and I just had to create one of my own. I’m working on a backstory of sorts with her, but her power is to utilize all of the souls of broken and corrupted shattered gems. I did a live stream watercolor session of her for the very first time and it was a ton of fun to do. If you’re interested in catching one sometime, add the Illusquad group on Facebook.
Since I started my new job and learned one of my favorite managers is a potterhead of the Griffindor variety, I promised her a fanart where she is in her house garb. I will probably do a couple more of these.
As per usual, I have to remind myself to do simple things like update instagram, do my daily yoga and add in some flavor text, a simple mantra to focus on in the week; “Move with Intention”.
I encourage you to add in a monthly challenge to your goals, it’s such a rewarding experience to accomplish little tasks. For me, yoga is perfect because I overwhelm easily and to focus on your breathing, you don’t have to be somewhere specific. Its very calming and I can already tell a little difference in how limber I am on Day 10.
How is everyone’s New Year coming? Any interesting resolutions? Feel free to comment!
