I'm working on a(n original) story that isn't related to my main works and is therefore going on AO3 once it's finished to read for free that started out as a silly funny ohohoho look at the ridiculous characters and puns! Kind of story and is slowly turning into a piece of vent work for a character who has been forcibly summoned into a world that doesn't understand why she doesn't go along with their (literal) magical societal expectations when no one voiced them to her they just assumed she'd know, and then label her as a monster when she reacts Badly™ because she doesn't.

And she has gone through so much shit in her life and discovered she is no longer able to go back to what's familiar, and decides "You know what? I'm biting at the next minor inconvenience." Except it's not just biting metaphorically it's actual biting, but also biting remarks and biting actions that end up making the people who think they can just force her to comply realize they have to learn her rules instead if they want to survive but she also has 3 individuals who are supporting her (and one of them is her cat that can now talk much to her delight), and they allow her to break and give her the space and sanctuary to stop masking and breathe and regulate.

I didn't intend for it to be about my autism but the characters yanked it out of me and now I'm bleeding autism on the keyboard and I had to take a break from it because it was hitting too close to home but now I feel like I can sit with it again.

I'm starting to get some serious arm muscle from my wheelchair which is awesome and also means it continues to confuse me that using a manual chair is not considered exercise by some doctors. I'm pushing 150lbs, at least, by myself with my arms, shoulders, and core, in what fucking world is that not exercise??

At work they require us to tuck in our shirts, but I don't like the feel of it so I usually tuck it in at HQ, then untuck it at my first pick up because I travel alone and the bosses don't see me all day if at all, and I just tuck it back in before returning to HQ and clock out.

This time, I forgot to untuck it until like several hours later. (Didn't even realize it until I was fully considering asking to go home, and decided if I wasn't feeling better after a lunch nap, l would.) About 30-45 minutes after I remembered to untuck my shirt, I snapped so far into a relief state that I was struggling to stay awake. I was trying to figure out wtf was going on, then it dawned on me that it was the shirt being tucked/untucked that triggered all of this.

A FUCKING TUCKED IN SHIRT.

I was about to complain that I've never had this visceral of a reaction to something so dumb before then I remembered the fact I've worn my socks inside out since I was a toddler and can't stand fuzzy or embroidered socks either.....

I want a refund for my autism.

At least I can function now...

PLEASE for the love of g-d stop calling your alien species that has both genitals or a uniform set of genitals across the species ""intersex"". intersex people are tired of seeing this. it does not accurately describe intersexness at all. you can use the terms "monogenital" (for all members of the species having the same uniform genitalia) or "bigenital" (for all members of the species having both genitals)

i think the actual scientific term for this is "hermaphrodite," which regarding human beings has some unsavory connotations but to all my fellow specevo nerds this is the word we use

Please don't use this word for sentient species, or really any species. It is considered offensive by Intersex people no matter the use case because it is a slur. There has recently been a large push in biology to use other terms. Biologists are already adapting and finding new terms to use. You do not and should not ever need to use "hermaphrodite." Don't say that.

Instead, here are some terms currently being used/proposed:

- Cosexual (both sets of reproductive organs- in current use in biology and botany)

- Bigenital (both sets of genitalia)

- Unigenital (one singular set of genitalia, same across all of the species)

please use these instead for your fantasy creatures! "hermaphrodite" is a slur no matter what context. please help intersex people in the fight to remove a word that has a long, hateful, violent history- one tied to a lot of horrific medical abuse and death- from our vocabularies. thank you
