Hey guys! I'm doing some "author uplifts" where I take an author photo (if they want) and pictures of their works (with links where to buy) and make posts and YouTube videos talking about each one. I'm hoping to start a back log so I can set up a schedule to release them regularly (still deciding on once a week or once every other week).
This YouTube channel is basically going to be posting about writing How To's, author uplifts, profession connection (where I basically post about cover artists/models, writers looking for cowriters/commissions, etc. to connect them together), writing resources, writing prompts/submissions (I'm hoping people will tag me or submit their pieces based on the writing prompts I post so I can read them - with their permission and links back to the original pieces - as a means to get better at narration for when I want to make my own audiobooks).
I'm not charging or anything like that for author uplifts. I figure if I'm trying to build a community centered around something I love, I can also bring attention to authors/writers who deserve all the love and share the spotlight.
Would anyone here like to send me a link to their works (and a photo of themselves if they so desire - not required) so I can make a post/video about them? I'm just starting out, so gaining traction will take a while, but you know what they say: the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago but the second best time is today.

Chapter 4: Fathers In Law
Chapter Summary: THEY FINALLY MEET!!!!
Fic Summary:
Aizawa wants to adopt Izuku.
Mic wants to adopt Izuku.
Izuku wants to go home with both of them.
Problem?
They are polar opposites and can't stand each other.
Or: In this fic, Mic and Aizawa have to learn to tolerate each other for the sake of their mutually adopted son in order to make the boy happy, but will they find romance along the way or strangle each other for their parenting styles first?
Thinking of creating a YouTube channel where I build up a writing community once I get some recording equipment.
Some things I was thinking of making were:
Plot Help and World Building
Critiques
Author Uplifts
How To’s
Writing Prompts and Submissions
Profession Connection
Paid Advertising

Please reblog and spread the word because I'd like to see this gain traction.
Breakdown of what each type of video would include below the cut:
Plot Help and World Building
I would have people send in submissions, read them off in the video, and give a few ideas but also have people comment and promote discussion in the comments. I would include questions to answer in the submission process that would allow a better picture of what you are working with, ask questions about what you have, as well as break down why I ask what I do to give you some ideas to work with.
Critiques
I would ONLY do this for pieces specifically requesting critiques. For shorter pieces, I can read them to the video (unless asked not to), and for longer pieces I can give a summary. I will give what I really liked about the piece, things that I feel could be improved upon (usually common mistakes, not voice), and what kept me reading vs what made me feel like things were slowing down or even what confused me, and so on. (I can also address any questions the author may have about the piece.)
Author Uplifts
These will feature an interview with an author talking about one work at a time (usually a published book). I could do one of these a week for anyone that wants to be featured. I will give a list of interview questions ahead of time for you to prepare and set up an interview time to work with.
How To's
These would be in-depth discussions about things authors and writers want to know more about. It can be anything from the writing process, what programs are recommended to write in, or even self-publishing vs traditional publishing and the pros and cons of each. (Polls or requests for comments/submissions of what viewers want to hear about next will go out at the end of each video and I will research the topic thoroughly if I don't already have a massive backlog of information saved on it. I will also welcome others to comment and share their thoughts, and put helpful links in the video's description.)
Writing Prompts and Submissions
This will be a series I work on where I give or find (with permission to share) writing prompts for viewers to write their own short stories about. I will pick up to 3 to share in the video chosen by either popular vote, poll, or a random number generator (to get started), and read either the full piece or give an excerpt (once again, with permission), and link to what I don't read if I don't have time for the full piece.
Profession Connection
This will be a call to artists, editors, authors, illustrators, marketers, publishers, agents and more who want to be featured in a video looking for work or for someone to help them with their project. I will give their name, contact information they provide, what they do and what they are looking for, their budget or pricing (if they wish to include this), and any portfolio information they wish to include (with links to their information listed in the description).
Paid Advertising
This will be just that. I will dedicate a video post and social media share across all platforms that I have an account for, and I will even send out a shout out in my monthly newsletter to everyone that has signed up for it. There will be tiers, and each one will be affordable, as I know how hard it is for indie authors in particular to get traction. It would start around $5 and be no more than $30 in a week max no matter what kind of content I create for the ad. I'm serious in that I want it to be affordable. I will mock up a detailed schedule for various tiers once I get this started.
List of Social Media I Have:
Bluesky
Cara
DailyMotion
DeviantArt
Discord (I'm apart of several writing discords I will see about getting permission to post this kind of content in to spread the word)
Email list
Facebook (As well as facebook groups that I will ask permission about sharing this kind of content in)
Instagram
Linkedin
Pillowfort
Pinterest (Considering making an account specifically to create boards for each paid client with this selected tier to compile interviews, links to works, mood boards, and music links to represent the artist/work and share permissions with their specific board so they can add to it as they see fit.)
Reddit
Snapchat
Threads
TikTok
Tumblr
YouTube

If you have any other suggestions or ideas you have that you'd like to see, please let me know your thoughts!!!! I'd really like to start a discussion on this.
8 days ago, I allowed myself to start writing a story I've had on the back burner for YEARS because I told myself I was gonna draw it instead but never did.
Last night, I got up to 163 words short of 30K. In 7 days. And last night I dreamed of the next scene involving my unhinged MC.
This was supposed to be a short story. I was TRYING. I failed. Ridiculously so. Their journey hasn't even sunk it's teeth into the core plot yet. They've been building a base for the character's personalities and situations and are about to kick something big off.
