Near the beginning of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Luigi is chased down a corridor by King Boo in a scripted scene where Luigi is supposed to escape by going down a laundry chute. If the player does not activate the chute, King Boo will stop and laugh, seemingly no longer attacking Luigi to give him a chance to escape. However, if the player waits too long, King Boo will stop laughing and hit Luigi with his tongue, revealing that it is possible to lose the game even in this introductory segment.

i think I overdid it with the design but whatever
he genuinely is a cool person to be around and is very firm with someone at the worst on a good day. its just that hes only super ruthless when he has to be (or. is forced to. thanks king boo). in the meantime, he has that kind of hearty laugh that tells you hes got life wrapped around his finger. er. fin
more than happy to be that barkeep who listens to your woes. between the permanent residents and ghosts just passing by, he's just about heard of it all. he truly doesnt mind being that therapist friend for people and usually tries to keep his temper in check so that people feel like they can come to him
that being said do Not piss him off on purpose it is not fun being in the hot seat 😭 while not AS structurally destructive as mr wolfgeist over here, fishook's rage will probably leave you staring off into the distance with a glassy look to your eyes afterwards. he always does it to set you straight though so if youre not used to being told no you better get used to it if you want to be on his good side
he Kiiiiinda structured his floor to be his own personal cove to recreate his past but after seeing (and going through) the kind of stress that ghosts in particular experience he started to veer towards a more open environment for ghosts. originally he truly did not gaf about anything or anyone because he felt like he lost so much when he died but treating his floor like a hangout helped him out quite a lot. i would imagine dying and being brought back as a ghost would bring forth some pretty complicated feelings so 😭😭 thank you captain
he is extremely independent and could actually be a little stubborn if hes in quite the pickle. tbf 90% of the time hes able to resolve it himself because its not his first rodeo running into issues of all kinds but if someone's adamant on helping and he cant resolve it himself he'll just quietly give up and let them help him LMFAO
gets along with clem in particular. so youre telling me theres another down to earth man in his early 40s who lives around water spending most of his time drifting along with what the world gives him? AND hes always down to crack open a cold one to laugh about our past lives? FUCK yes
He really does not care too much about wearing complicated clothes. in his more humanoid form he cares a lot more (i will draw that later ok give me a little while) but realistically theres only so much you could do as a shark. in the meantime though he HAS lived a life where being diy was borderline the only option so hes opted to make an eyepatch and hook out of whatever materials he could find. he used rope and seaweed to craft into an eyepatch and he used the seaweed to basically make a liner for his hook. the lure was not made though he was taking a swim in his cove when it just caught onto his fin. he doesnt know who tossed it in there but he kept it around because it looked cool
also yeah sorry i think i gave the pattern on his hook a downgrade im not a very good pattern designer and just wanted to get some kind of diamond pattern on him 😭 i wanna imagine the boss ghosts have some kind of diamond pattern on their designs to show their association with hellen and the hotel. maybe the original pattern mightve been fine the way it is idk ill deal with it later
sometimes he thinks his crew was a little too extreme literally shooting that shark when his injuries were way too great to feasibly save him. in retrospect he knew it was curious and very likely wouldnt have eaten him if it pieced together that he was a person. he still thinks sharks are cool
his personality is largely based off of both who he is as a person AND picking up behaviors from the shark's soul he was fused with, funnily enough. sharks generally do not care about people and lowk getting struck by lightning is more likely than getting killed by a shark but assuming they wont ever bite and throwing all caution away is your first mistake, which is something that fishook picked up after he died with his tendency to respect people until they give him a reason not to

STEWARD STUFF LOL
hes tired a Lot of the time. but he doesnt Hate being tired. in fact he thinks its the one thing helping him cope with his anxiety (however hes scared of admitting that its a temporary solution and doesnt get to the root of his anxiety 😛😛😛😛 SIGHHH.)
he mans the front desk and assigns a lot of other bellhops (usually goobs. those guys are everywhere 😭) to spiffy up the hotel and keep things tidy since the hotel still is kind of a home for a lot of ghosts
Tbh he's not AS stressed out about his job as people think he is, he quite enjoys being on his feet (tail???) and when he goes to help the other bellhops with services he uses it as a good excuse to chat with the other residents of each floor. still doesn't stop him from setting his face in his hands in tired defeat upon seeing an entirely preventable mess though
i like to imagine he gets along pretty well with the other boss ghosts due to his lax nature and good conversation skills. he especially likes visiting kruller because he found it comforting to relate to someone else who seems to be just as jumpy as he is and they usually chat over coffee and donuts. wolfgeist is also somebody else on his social radar because he likes to go up to the grand stage to play saxophone on his breaks and rant about whatever's on his mind
he genuinely will get pissed off if you coddle him for his anxiety. he's already fighting against it a lot of the time because he hates how it got so much worse after his death so having other people baby him about it makes it even more daunting 😭
steward lives like he was ripped directly from the 1930s. i really dont know how much the marioverse timeline coincides with the way our fashion choices changed throughout the decades but 😭😭 much of his wardrobe is full of button up shirts, suits, flat caps, a fedora or two, suspenders, ties of all colors and patterns, two piece pajama sets, of course many of his own bell captain uniforms, etc etc. but he has taken up a few modern accessories to wear when he isnt working. he talks like he's from the 30s as well and he's been at the hotel long enough for people to catch onto his 30s lingo
^ which is exactly why i made his uniform the way i did. i probably couldve dug around a little bit more but steward's canon outfit seems more. like..... modern? compared to a lot of traditional bellhop uniforms. i changed his uniform to be more geared towards a 1930s bellhop outfit so that he could visually play into the role more and also explore the concept of a lot of the characters coming from different periods of time
yes i gave him freckles. i initially didnt because i wasnt really given an idea that would prompt me to give him any but after looking at his ripped model i saw that he just has more visible spotting on his tail far more than the other ghosts???
and like sure if you go and look at the other ripped boss ghost models you can very faintly see spots on their tails as well. i could only assume it was to spiffy up their appearances a little and give them texture. I don't know . but aside from johnny (who literally has like actual freckles on his body btw) i suppose steward's here for the ride too
hes got wrinkles on the corner of his eyes from smiling so much #fire
he has more diamond patterns on his uniform because i think it fits with the diamond designs you can see on the front of the hotel

he died and stayed pretty young compared to the other ghosts, probably sitting at a comfortable age of mid to late 20s but once in a blue moon he feels like he has to sit down and smoke a cigar like he's 50 😭
yes he smokes cigarettes he Needs his mandated smoke breaks. cant really die or wither away as a ghost like mortals can, so why not?
MISCELLANEOUS/GENERAL STUFF (not that much sorry)
the last resort is........ more of a home than it is a hotel for a lot of the ghosts in a way?? it was basically made to be a sort of sanctuary for wandering ghosts who wanted to find a place to spend their afterlives. it WAS originally an actual hotel but after real living guests tapered off + the subsequent death of hellen gravely, ghosts began to come through and eventually hellen allowed certain ghosts to take up floors of their own and renovate it to their liking (or just keep it put. steward for example kept it the grand lobby the way it was). this is why the theming of the floors jumps around so much and why some of the floors just don't seem to have hotel rooms anymore
a vast majority of the ghosts have just straight up forgotten how they died for various reasons, sometimes it reaches so deep that they just don't remember a vast majority of their lives before death. maybe they dont want to remember, maybe it was physical or mental trauma that made them repress/forget about it, maybe they do remember and would sit you down near a campfire to retell their death like its a scary story (Clem), or maybe theyll chase you out of the hotel to put your head on a stick if you ask. dunno. depends on who youre talking to (steward just straight up forgot how he died tbh hes scared of remembering and keeps his mind off of it by taking the role as the hotel's bell captain)
How powerful a ghost's abilities are depends on how long they've been a ghost but also if they even bothered to hone in on those abilities to begin with. steward should probably be at a point where he could do more than fling luggage at luigi but he just didn't bother with training himself too much because he's busy and never would've thought that he would HAVE to fight somebody one of these days since he doesn't leave the hotel so 😭 as much as he respects Morty, he feels more at peace knowing that he can at the very least muster up more strength than that movie director
In the ScareScraper mode of Luigi's Mansion 3, it is possible for a Goob to get stuck in a swirling animation while not being sucked in if the player capturing it lets go at the precise frame it would be defeated.
The Goob will continue swirling in mid-air until it is interacted with, such as by using the Strobulb on it, whereupon it will die.
