speaking about fanservice this was the chapter seb ripped ciels shirt off in such an over the top manner even some shippers found it silly. Before, at least the manga started out as a bl influenced gothic manga, but that kind of overt fanservice became outdated. now it just feels ridiculous whenever yana does that, like really?

(tho I wonder if she's going to do it more frequently now that they've returned to the story, but its going to be really jarring after having almost a decade without them.)

like on one hand when I was a kid I could ignore many of the erotic elements of Kuroshitsuji because it wasn't that shocking, compared to the shoujo I read at the time which also had extreme age gaps (shout out to Dendeki Daisy 💀) and how girls were more sexualized in manga with panty shots and groping incidents, Ciel got let off relatively easy.

but on the other hand the reason why Kuroshitsuji's fanservice feels so much more insidious is because the negative effects of CSA is the plot. It's the driving force of the story, and every arc just shows a little more how Ciel's trauma impacted him, but sure let's just ignore that, "wow look how Sebastian put his hand on his cunty little waist," like it gets to a point 💀
