People will see trauma victims struggling to accept what happened to them, that made almost every aspect of their life unbearable, and will shamelessly say ‘You need to let go of it already’ 

What if this happened to you or someone you loved? What if someone you actually cared about couldn’t go thru one day without breaking down because of the trauma? Would you dismiss it then? Or would you be able to say ‘this is fucked up and something needs to get done about this.’

The laundry is not going to run away. The dishes aren’t going to crack if left in the dishwasher. When you ask your child to do a chore and they respond with “Let me finish what I’m doing,” for the love of god, just let them. It doesn’t matter if their boss won’t be that way. You are not their boss, and that dust will still be there on the carpet when they’re done with what they’re currently doing.
