people also tend to wildly underestimate how long it takes to talk when you are talking out loud. i would argue more video essays should be written essays or even books because frankly a small book takes a good few hours to read out loud and when you have essayists on youtube regularly churning out a minimum of 3 hours per topic while staying on topic you don't realize "that script probably doesn't take nearly as long to read in my head as it's taking this person to tell me" or "i could get this information much quicker if this were text"

essentially as an exercise sometime you should find a topic you could absolutely pour over passionately and then go try to write a youtube video script talking about the subject and then record it and tell me even if that video never makes it to editing how long that first take is alone
