Working on my writing but it’s amazing how little fanfiction you get done when your mom is visiting and 5 kittens are in a permanent state of riot
Concept: a tabletop roleplaying campaign where all of the party members are drawn a tribe of Lawful Good kobolds serving a gold dragon. A very, very patient gold dragon.
Potential PC concepts include:
A paladin of Bahamut with an incredible Olde English accent (affected, of course - they think that’s how paladins talk, and no-one has been able to persuade them otherwise)
A dragonsoul sorcerer with enthusiastically terrible aim, who mostly uses their high Charisma to apologise
A rogue ostensibly seeking redemption for their extremely complicated Dark Past, the particulars of which never seem to be the same twice
A bard who serves as the tribe’s lorekeeper, and plays the role with a great deal more confidence than their actual grasp of the historical record warrants
A long-suffering fighter whose uncommon command of common sense is mitigated by their poor observational skills
More:
Lawful Good or not, humans mistrust kobolds on principle, so certain measures have to be taken when your quests take you to human lands. Past efforts include three kobolds standing on each other’s shoulders with a hat of disguise (it generally ends poorly), and “I’m actually a very short dragonborn” (it works more often than you’d think).
On the flip side, trying to “act natural” when confronted with other monstrous humanoids in order to take advantage of their automatic assumption that you’re on Team Evil. Unfortunately, Lawful Good kobolds have very little notion of how a Chaotic Evil person behaves; fortunately, most larger baddies don’t really pay attention to kobolds anyway.
Pissing off other dragons by converting their kobold servants to Lawful Goodness.
(Late in the campaign, there’s a scenario where the party has to go undercover as ordinary minions, and the whole thing is basically them Clark Kenting their way through a series of potentially lethal misadventures, where the challenge is less surviving and more getting through it all without giving away the fact that you’ve got like 20 Strength and fifteen hit dice, or whatever.)

SPOOPY BUS
This is actually pissing me off. It has begun to ruin halloween for me knowing people don’t spell check. Things are massed produced in factories and sent out for sale to the public spelt spoopy, doo, and creppy. Like what the actual fuck. My computer even automatically changes spoopy to spooky. I mean, come on. The best holiday season and businesses don’t even care enough about it to spell check the items they’re gonna sell. Fuck this shit.
come on buddy wheres your smngfiehp cheer

So it’s taken me FOR FUCKING EVER to post this, but I was lucky enough to snag a commission slot with @projectnelm. I was ecstatic that I got the spot and was utterly thrilled with how she portrayed my crossover Inquisitor and her dear Cullen. Thank you so much and I hope I get to commission you again!
lahore pigeons are some of the most visually appealing birds out there. like in terms of visual design. very minimalist, good contrast.
Too bad Lahore pigeons are a domestic breed and don’t appear in the wild at all. Some equally balanced wild colorations include
Pygmy Falcon
Great Hornbill
Wallcreeper
and
Black-throated Loon
this is a good addition to this post. thank you for this birds educations
I would like to submit the following additions to the world of exceptional bird color design:
Cedar Waxwing
Red Crowned Crane
Brahminy Kite
Green Tree Swallow (I mean seriously - those are metallic teal feathers against stark white. Damn.)
Bali Mynah
And, last but certainly not least, the cutest fucking puffball on this planet earth:
The Korean Crow-Tit
I’d also like to contribute some pretty awesome birds
Hooded Pitta (or as like to call them little olives)
Coua
Mot-Mot
The Blue Crown Pigeon (the biggest pigeon)

THIS IS SO PERFECT

the fact that this was written two years ago and it’s still relevant… what does that tell you?
I’ve been saying this for years but guys
Sandy Hook.
Sandy Hook was the Nightmare Scenario. It was the “that’s not realistic.” If I’d been arguing with someone who was anti gun control and I said “someone could take a gun and go into a school and kill thirty kindergartners in just a couple of minutes, how would you feel then,” they would have said I was exaggerating, that’s manipulative and unrealistic.
but that’s what happened.
and the thing is
if thirty dead, white, upper middle-class kindergartners in Connecticut aren’t going to motivate change on gun control
then they’re never going to change for queer people in Florida, and they’re not going to change for music fans in sin city, and they’re not going to change for college students in Washington and Oregon, and they’re not going to change and they’re not going to change.
A white man can buy 19 automatic weapons and no one is going to raise an eyebrow. And then afterwards they’ll send thoughts and prayers.
@rawrzimon‘s request of Cole with a nug from a few nights ago when I was a little delirious. Got some sleep since then, so as a thanks to the void and rawr, actually managed to draw it. ♥
Inktober 05 - Long
At mamaw’s funeral this week, my daddy (her son-in-law), read selections of her notes she’d write in the margins of her Bible as she read it every year. This is a very old folk magic belief she had written in the opening flap: Ezekiel 16:5 stops bleeding. Many of the older generation believe if you pray over someone who’s bleeding and recite this verse the bleeding will stop.
There’s a little more to it, around here at least- being able to stop bleeding with this verse is a gift that has to be handed down to a child from their parent of the opposite sex who has the gift. My daddy taught me, but (fortunately, I guess) I’ve never had a reason to test it to see if it works for me.
This is exactly why I want to share some of these stories and images from where I grew up - the older generation is passing away and there are so many things we don’t know or don’t remember. It’s so great to have others expand on the pieces we do have. Thanks again!
You’re welcome. I just always assumed all the things I saw and learned growing up were commonplace everywhere. They were at the center of my world every day, and naturally shaped my thoughts and ideas, but I took all of that for granted until I was grown and had been out in the world a little. By the time I realized how valuable our heritage is, and that the intricacies and important details of our rituals might be getting lost or forgotten about, a lot of the people who had lived that way were already gone. I’m just thankful that my family taught me a lot of it, and that some of it actually stuck. I’m interested in hearing what your older relatives have to say when you go visit them :)
Same here. My elders tries to teach me things, and I’m thinking particularly of herblore and remedies, and I was too busy trying to get away from home and see the world to pay much attention. Like you, I got out and realized later that how I grew up was special, and fading. A lot of it stuck with me, too, but there is so much I didn’t follow up on, and lots I remember only pieces of. Working our way back is an important journey, though, and this post shows that we younger ones can bridge some of those gaps by talking with one another and sharing our stories. We have the benefit of technology, and we really care about preserving and sharing our heritage. I count myself so lucky that you shared your understanding of this! - I’ll definitely let you know what they say! There’s a wonderful old woman named Boodle, she has to be 90-something, who lives up our holler. I bet she would know about this and lots of other things.
I learned a lot from my granny and her people. The family was Irish settlers here in southern Appalachia and brought a lot of their traditions with them.
@moonshine-and-moss please share what you can! I’d love to hear your stories and compare.
