DO NOT SUPPORT SALVATION ARMYÂ
I can back this up. It isnât only their shelters.
I have a family friend who worked at our local Salvation Army headquarters as a a secretary. This particular office took all the Christmas donations for children in need, put them in a warehouse, and on a designated day the staff and their friends picked through them all, taking whatever they wanted. She saw people hauling away bikes donated for specific families. Some local children had hundreds of dollars of gifts donated in their name, and on Christmas they received three cheap things, items likely not even from the person who sponsored them.
My friend quit, and Iâve not given them a dime of my money since then.
Do not give to the Salvation Army.
Do Not. Give. To. Salvation. Army
My turn.
Iâm a wildfire and disaster logistics specialist.
I deal with a lot of agencies who provide disaster relief.
I used to say the Salvation Armyâs disaster services were the one (literally the ONE) good thing they did.
They would come in, set up a canteen trailer, make and pass out hot coffee and donated food in a disaster, usually being one of the first agencies to get there and the last to leave.
Then I found out.
Every time they did this, regardless of if they were actually invited or deployed by the agency in charge (usually FEMA, sometimes others) they would SELF-DEPLOY. Meanjng they would just show up. Ok. Thatâs not TOO bad, sometimes agencies have to take initiative and get there before the red tape is sorted out. BUT. They, after they left at the end of the incident, they would send FEMA or the host agency a BILL. They used one or two paid employees (usually the driver of the truck and a supervisor); and many VOLUNTEERS, but they would bill for EVERYONEâs Labor at standard federal rates. They would bill for the food they distributed even though it was all donated by another agency or private parties. They would bill for the coffee they made and the supplies. Except they would use electricity from the shelter location, water from donations or from the shelter, and in many cases, they would get the coffee and industrial filters DONATED, but bill for them at retail prices.
Donât FUCKING give to the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army is also ass to the workers. A good number of people join it, naively thinking that itâs doing good, and end up leaving cynical and beaten down. The management is hostile, if not outright abusive, and demand some ridiculous hours of it lower to mid-level staff. Donât support these people.
Unsettling update
Find better local charities and shelters and give to them instead!

Are you actually giving them a chance to be there for you or are you instead pushing them away because you aren't sure they would be there if you showed them trust?
Do these look nice? Please comment if I do or don't need improvement.
Self love is so, so important to making it through life in a healthy, sustainable way. Without self love, weâd be so frustrated and upset.Â

IT CHAPTER TWO dir. Andy Muschietti
honestly though i love this scene. if someone has a stutter, do NOT try to speak over them or finish their sentence for them. theyâll get it eventually. itâs incredibly rude to talk over someone, especially when theyâre struggling. and it can actually make the stutter more severe bc it escalates with anxiety or frustration, hence the line âThe fucking bike!â bc damn bro. just give him a second
Are you having a hard time keeping yourself and your brain stimulated? Can you even stimulate yourself at all? Maybe you should try making a Dopamenu!
I made a Dopamenu today by following How To ADHDâs guide.
How To Give Your Brain The Stimulation It Needs (Dopamenu Guide!)
I recommend watching the video and trying to make yourself a Dopamenu as well. I used OpenOffice to make my Dopamenu, itâs a free alternative to Word and it works pretty much the same!
LINK TO MY GOOGLE DRIVE SO YOU CAN GET THE FILE & FILL IN YOUR OWN DOPAMENU YOURSELF
Sometimes you start to hyperfixate on things and you make an entire mental health plan for crisis situations and also update the looks of your Dopamenu.
Ghostie friend is amazed at how awesome youâve been doing! Great job! đ

Goddamn it stop making me feel human
The therapist I wanna be.
Text in the image:
âIâm a therapist and keep this poster in my waiting room, apparently itâs saved a few lives.â
I donât like the phrase âa cry for help.â I just donât like how it sounds. When somebody says to me, âIâm thinking about suicide. I have a plan: I just need a reason not to do it,â the last thing I see is helplessness.
I think your depression has been beating you up for years. Itâs called you ugly, and stupid, and pathetic, and a failure, for so long that youâve forgotten that itâs wrong. You donât see any good in yourself, and you donât have any hope.
But still here you are: youâve come over to me, banged on my door and said, âHEY! Staying alive is REALLY HARD right now! Just give me something to fight with! I donât care if itâs a stick! Give me a stick and I can stay alive!â
How is that helpless? I think thatâs incredible. Youâre like a marine: trapped for years behind enemy lines. Your gun has been taken away, youâre out of ammo, youâre malnourished, and youâve probably caught some kind of jungle virus thatâs making you hallucinate giant spiders.
And youâre still just going, âGIVE ME A STICK. IâM NOT DYING OUT HERE.â âA cry for helpâ makes it sound like Iâm supposed to take pity on you, but you donât need my pity. This isnât pathetic. This is the will to survive. This is how humans lived long enough to become the dominant species.
With NO hope, running on NOTHING, youâre ready to cut through a hundred miles of hostile jungle with nothing but a stick, if thatâs what it takes to get to safety.
All Iâm doing is handing out sticks.
Youâre the one saying alive.
I legit cried at this. Iâve needed to hear it put this way. Bless this post.
Every time I see this post I stop to read the whole image. It always helps â even on the good days.
Because it wasnât weakness. It wasnât shameful to seek help. It wasnât pathetic to âcry for helpâ. I was looking for a stick, be that from myself or from someone else. I was trying to find a way out. I was trying to heal myself.
this is fuckin incredible.Â
Iâm sorry if I repost to many of these, but if it could be someoneâs âstickâ then itâs worth it
For anyone that needs to read this today.Â

They also have this one and I think quite a few others but these two I keep on my phone and pull up on my bad days.

âWhy are you so lazy?â
But youâre not lazy. Lazy is when you shrug things off because you canât summon up the give-a-damn. When youâre curled up tight on your chair, at your desk, alone and grey and desperately wishing that you had your life in order, that you did all those things that you had to do, that it didnât feel like breaking rocks just to feed and clothe yourself and get some sleep, thatâs not lazy.
People donât understand. You tell them âItâs Hard.â They tell you, âNo it isnât. Youâre just lazy.â
You start to wonder if theyâre right. Is breaking those rocks easy for everyone else? Are they that much stronger than you? They donât look like theyâre struggling. âJust try harder,â they say. But youâre trying. Itâs not working. Breaking boulders in your path until youâre spent isnât lazy, and you do it day after day.
Youâre not lazy. Most people donât have those rocks to break. They donât even know what itâs like to have to break rocks to get things done. They donât understand how hard you have to work, and how hopeless you feel, when you try and fail to do what they do easily. Things hard harder for you, they really are. And if those people had to deal with your problems they wouldnât be doing any better.
Youâre not lazy. Youâre not weak. Youâre fighting hard. I guess I just want you to know that I know that.â

You donât have to be perfect to be amazing!
More posts for you daily, right here! :)
This whole post is about ableism
About 10 minutes ago, my brother was texting me sending me a picture about an event 4 disabled people. I like the place because I found it way before him and it's not super far away but the thing is I can't use access paratransit because my eligibility expired and right now I'm waiting for my determination letter and my new TAP card so I hope it gets here before then. But that's not the ableist part. The thing is, my brother is a half asser. He claims to be an ally but he just made a joke about me being bipolar and I haven't even been diagnosed so it's really pissing me off and I told him not to text me ever again. Mind you, he's 32 and REALLY NEEDS TO GROW THE FUCK UP!!!!! About a month ago, I went to two separate trader Joe's stores in Redondo Beach and was disappointed because the first one left their only electric wheelchair in the sun. After asking my caretaker diamond to feel it to understand, I decided we should go to another one and they did not have any of them! They should have at least four of them! All stores should have at least four of them! Whole food in Playa Vista claimed the only one they had was stolen!
