Howdy! I'm Interncontinental, the Country Personification Community's jester. I create country art, usually in the style above. I had a dream that France tweeted a LONG ass post on twitter about why he hates the 'countryhuman community' (this would apply to hetalia too). I was so moved by it for some reason.

"I hate the CHCommunity (yes he wrote it like this, I nearly had a stroke in my dream reading this), I wasn't all love, I was a fighter. Every lost land and conflict was turned into [an opportunity to make it] NSFW."

I really want to know your notes on him

At the moment? Seems a bit upset. I don't have many notes on Lithuania, other than that out of all of the Baltics he is usually the most temperamental, and probably the strongest physically of the 3. He is close with Poland with the Baltics room located directly next to his. The Baltics share a room! More like 3 mini rooms in one, but nonetheless. There’s not much square footage in the Complex, so any countries who seem uniquely close might share spaces.

I have been thinking of a ’’more serious’’ country personification method than my other two, so I have been brainstorming. My current idea is country fae with a far, far more human design. Here is a quick rough draft of my Canada design. He is done first because I am Canadian, of course! Nationwight is a working title. I take suggestions... it took me 8 years to get to the half-decent name ’’Complex Countries’’, and I’m just getting too old to fumble with names for that long!

COUNTRY PERSONIFICATION POLL:

I generally believe that Country Personificationers agree that personified countries are supernatural entities. But what TYPE of supernatural entity do you believe them to be? What do you think is the most accurate being to describe them? (more of a generalized category thing, very specific powers are not taken into account)

This is important, I think.

Generalized Spirit/Ghost/Noncorporeal entity

Typically Malicious entity like a Fae/Demon/Youkai of some kind.

Typically Benevolent entity like an Angel/Fairy or similar.

Some kind of hyper-specific, location-based cryptid

Some kind of mixed-species chimera or homunculus

Robotic, not necessarily supernatural but close enough.

Not supernatural, one way or another.

Supernatural, but other.

Shapes and colours. Flags with darker, more muted colours tend to get a milder personality, and ones with spikes or triangles tend to get some sort of trait my brain categorizes to be ’sharp.’

Very rough system really. Not particularly set in stone either. Since I mostly design from flags a lot of it is either done by researching or pure vibes. I do plan on making more complex designs soon, but (ironically) those would not be Complex designs. I plan to branch into more ’traditional’ Country Personification eventually, where I will need to do much much more research than I do for my Complex designs.

Their relationship isn't completely perfect, but when it comes to country relationships it can always be worse!

Altered head accessory, shoulder armour added. Otherwise the same. Removing the notes has allowed me to get through these faster, thankfully. 1-2 a day output I have going on right now is ideal but stressful, so I might be back to 1 every 2 days. Depends on what I end up doing. I haven't stopped doing the descriptions! I will next time I have a good one I can put. Every country has a personality and some gimmicks, but not always particularly unique or defined ones that I feel needs to be written on the page.

Without restrictions, I imagine he would get some upgrades! In the story Country’s Cosmos, he is able to be fully unrestricted and have access to the power one would expect an international union for peace to have: a lot!

[RR4 #79/195~] Palestine | Complex Countries

I have only ever done one other design of Palestine, as I didn’t find them on any of the country lists I used for my first 2 reference revisions. So, they haven’t gone through the 8 years of slow redesigning the others have unfortunately. D: I have actually missed a few countries over the years. Very embarrassing when I went for my next redesign and realized I just... didn’t have like, seven of them. Altered boots, gloves, and new ruffled vest I thought was cute. Other than that, pretty similar to my last version.
