“Listen to me: If we are truly meant to be, then we will find our way back to each other. It’s as simple as that.”
— Dawson’s Creek
they should make it easier
what?
Everything. All of it
It hurt, but I don’t regret it.

“forgive all the versions of yourself that operated out of fear instead of growth, the ones that viewed comfort zones as safe havens and abandoned boundaries to keep other people happy, forgive all the versions of yourself that didn’t know that love begins with how you treat you.”
— iambrillyant
how come every day lasts ten years but every week lasts 3 seconds but every month lasts either two days or an eternity and then it's a new year and now it's November
Getting laid and getting laid off are vastly different experiences
scrolling twitter today and then coming over here is like walking out of a burning building and then walking into the calm remains of a building that burnt down 5 years ago and has been reclaimed by nature.
I can't remember which philosopher said it, but one of them defined the nature of happiness to be being able to do what one is naturally supposed to do. A horse is happy when they get to do things that horses naturally do. A seagull is happy when they get to do things that seagulls naturally do.
I think genuine happiness is mostly just figuring out what are the things that truly, genuinely make you feel "hmm, yes, this is what I'm supposed to be doing", and then figuring out how to arrange your life in a way that lets you focus on doing that. Not what other people think you should be doing, but the real thing. That you can wholeheartedly dive into, like a dog chasing birds off the yard or whatever a jackdaw is doing when they're flipping through random sticks and branches. Doing things you loathe for a noble goal isn't as valuable as doing what you enjoy for no apparent reason.
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole...

“The river was running strong for midsummer; heavy rains to the west of us had kept it full. I crossed the bridge and went upstream along the wooded shore to a pleasant dressing-room I knew among the dogwood bushes, all overgrown with wild grapevines. I began to undress for a swim.”
-My Ántonia, Book 2, ch. 14
Oh, to live in a time and place where there are just pleasant and conveniently located riverside dressing rooms among the dogwoods.
