Getting Flowers is always such a thrill because it's beautiful and a mystery until you read the card and today was extra special because it was from a girlfriend and she was just simply telling me what I meant to her and that she appreciated me believing in her..... Girl Power at its best! Lifting as we rise! Another friend, taught me to say I love you more and often. For the most part, I forgot about saying it in the midst of growing up, being responsible and assuming people know..... They might know in the depths, but something about keeping that beautiful expression fresh in our mind can only warm the heart and make you come back for more. My native Californian rock and roll roots, but with the soul for music city was transported tonight with artist that have saved and enlivened me, in some cases, my whole life. Vince Gill, who I have had such a crush on since I first met on the set of Eight Seconds and we bought the same boots..... Yes they live in Destiny. Every year he invites his friends to join him in celebration of music and the children who can benefit from it's magic at a traditional guitar pull. His friends.... Joe Walsh, legendary and could have given George Carlin a run for his money. Such a badass music artist and character Kacey Musgraves, our modern Dolly that can write pain in the cleverest ways, making us uncomfortable with delight..... Like her upcoming Christmas song that she sang tonight along with my favorite "Mama's Broken Heart" that she wrote. Chris Stapleton, you can't help closing your eyes and getting lost in that voice. When he sings "Whiskey and You" I just want to melt and float in my whiskey. And James Taylor who has been with me the longest, saved me from the demons of my father and the ones I created. Who has reminded me over the years in those times of trouble that I have a friend and has never changed being a solid human. Peculiar day!!! Thank Romy Raves for pointing it out..... We all have those peculiar things that we do or have about us and I for one am thrilled that we have a day in honor of them! For me, and this is probably obvious, it's my fascination with the bathroom. The peculiarly has been with me my whole life. My mom and aunts noticed early that my mood and if I liked a place was based on my trip to the bathroom, which I would do first thing upon arrival..... I still do if I can slip away 😋 It kinda of a combo of clean and style, with clean being the priority.... Because of the bathroom is clean, you know the rest of the place is! So in honor, here are some bathrooms that didn't make the tour posting..... The big one from LaLoggia restaurant on Ventura, this from today. I have been having lunch meetings here for years.... Like 20.... And always enjoy the food and the ladies. Since my last visit, they adding a Japanese toilet seat.... Warm and self cleaning! It was just so gold, frilly and spotless, I couldn't resist!🌸 Again, the great, memorable bathrooms from the @RubyAmanfu shoot for OTR at the awesome Printers Alley lofts. I love the wild brick wall marred with the modern everything else 🚿🛁🚽 Bathrooms!!! the man in the airport I didn’t expect to be the person who just needed to listen when I went to LAX. But somehow the universe and love brought me to this seat in CPK with what was now a long 3 hour delay in the Southwest terminal. It’s said that God only gives you what you can handle…… With unusual time on my hands, I decided to really enjoy the bar and tuck in, although my phone was at 12% I didn't feel the crazy angst to find a plug…… I felt somehow calm. Ask anyone who has traveled with me, I am not calm in an airport. I set my purse was on the seat next to me only because I was on a tight corner, with no space and didn't think anyone would want to sit there. I had ordered some food and half into the CPK drink of the week, a sort of nerdy cool, 40 plus man walked up with a head of grey wild hair as he walked behind me I hear the kid next to me say “cool shirt”, he is wearing a Jimi Hendricks t-shirt and I already sense something. I move my purse, thinking he’s a musician, on to was to Nashville…my folk And he fits into our polite, delayed group that was forming at this airport bar. Since he and I were cornered so to speak, we start our own conversation about our home cities, Southwest recent delays and traveling….he had a sort of hyper energy and wanted to talk. His voice was like the turtle dad from Nemo so it was comfortable, familiar and fun. In the midst of the small talk he said “My kids go to school here” and then corrected himself and said “well now my kid” with a sight pause. That’s when my heart skipped and jumped into my throat. I wanted to say “wait, backup, what did you mean”, but the politeness of the situation would not allow and we continued to talk a little more about his home, Chicago, that he was a physician his wife and that they hoped to come to California and possible live someday. He shared the story of trying to buy a place in Korea-town for his son to get a start and being able to have renters so he could create, because his son was an artist. Was sad to take the beautiful Emmy gown off last night and face a Monday so soon after leaving the ball, but was so treated to experience this artist, Xenia Rubinos today in the music lounge. If Alisha Keys, Celia Cruz, Amy Winehouse, Joni Mitchell and Abbey Lincoln had a very precocious daughter, Xenia would be it!! She has a style unto herself and plays some very funky solo bass. I am so sorry I didn't get to see her last night, but this lyrically young enlightened soul promises to be back and I know I will be in her audience. Make America Rage Again..... Musical that is! In between all the glamour of Emmy week, I went to my old music rocker, stomping grounds, The Fabulous Forum and got to jump around with the super group Prophets Of Rage. Made of legends.... Guitar god, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, hip hop hero, Chuck D form Public Enemy and rapper poet, B-Real from Cypress Hill. Tim Commerford, Brad Wink and DJ Lord complete this All American super rap metal group. Even if you are not a fan of this style off music, you can't help but feel the raw, young and out n' out fun!! WOW: WOMAN OF WONDER - EMMY She is coveted and elusive. She can make or break you and she is golden. This is her week. Emmy, who was first called Immy because the then president of the academy, Syd Cassyd first wanted to call her Ike, which was the slang term for television iconoscope tube..... so romantic Syd? But because Dwight D had the same nickname, they named her after a popular camera at the time. Smartly, somebody quickly changed the I to E because it sounded more feminine..... Thank dog!! Emmy was design in 1948 by television engineer, Louis MacManus. Using his wife as a model, he created a winged woman holding an atom. The wings symbolize the muse of the arts, while the atom symbolizes science, embodying the culmination of the art and the science of television..... Now that's a WOW! She is all some can think about right now and even though who will take her home is already set, the suspense until Sunday is as Willy Wonka said "is terrible.... I hope it will last" Like cleopatra, she can make slaves and kings, but all while being beautiful, strong and relentless. Emmy week pt. 2.... The big one!! What do you get when you are friends with a super stylist to the stars and he wants to dress you? A rack full of beautiful dresses and well, an expert who already has you in mind..... My expert Ricci DeMartino. Beauties- imagine a rack of Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Dolce, etc....and vintage Valentino and Halston all for you to try on..... Girly heaven! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💗💕💞 There was even a gorgeous DeMartino original that if I was a little more daring.... You see Ricci has been collecting for years and has a closet of Beautie treasures! But speaking of daring that was the best part that because Ricci is a pro and a friend I know he wants be to look my best so putting all my trust in him, I let him push my comfort level. But Beauties, believe me, with my 40plus Jessica Rabbit figure it's a challenge to not feel a little exposed. I had no idea this morning what I would wear to the Emmys tonight..... I figured that Destiny aka my closet, would provide the look, like it does after so many years of collecting.
