Ludacris price for a not restarted not let-down downhill horse with a dippy roached back, a prior medical history, and a personality not suited for most riders.

I normally don't care too much when someone overprices a horse, but in the context of ottbs like this the race owners should just be grateful that someone is taking their poorly built hoses off their hands and providing them with a good home, not trying to further profit. 😒

Wow that's insane. What is the average price for a TB straight off the track in the US? Horse prices seem to be way higher over there, here in Aus you'd expect to pay around $500-$1000.

I usually see them go for anywhere in the 1-4k range

I’ve done first rides and training rides on green horses throughout my time as a working student, but starting and consistently doing every single ride on my own young horse and having brought her to this point makes me feel Some Type of Way™️. I wish I could show this to depressed 16-year-old-me that had just started riding at a therapy barn, couldn’t even get her lesson pony to turn at the trot, and dreamed of maybe being able to event somehow someday

Well, with every year that passes and the more ottbs I see coming through for re-training, I dislike the racing industry more and more and what it does to young horses, both physically and psychologically. That being said, I still think TBs are phenomenal athletes/a great sport horse option, and am sure racing can be done right, but what we’re doing in the US really seems to be leaving a mark in so many cases. I will not be elaborating on this further. This is has been my pre-sleep thought-vomit.

Sylvie is colicky but also passing a lot of soft stool. Im away in Chicago right now and am panicking while waiting to hear back from my trainer as she’s taking her to the vet hospital. Has anyone’s horse ever had a colic like this (with frequent passing of soft stool) before/what was the outcome? I’m losing my mind imagining the worst case scenario

Bruh I literally work this horse two days a week yet she was so good when I decided to finally go ahead and do her first ride this weekend

Like y’all understand that these horses are feral right? They’re not indigenous to the americas. They don’t ‘deserve’ to run wild here because they don’t belong - they were brought here by humans and should still be considered our responsibility

Akhal-Tekes will always hit me as weird half llama, half gazelle horses, but I’ll never not love the extreme expression of sooty found in the breed.
