Sevika’s Dad — A headcanon
It should be so painfully obvious that my girl, Sevikan IS south asian (honestly it’s up to your own headcanon where) and that her parents are likely also south asian too.
Sevika's name in Sanskrit and Hindi (सेविका) translates to female servant or maid — which is where my headcanon will come into play. ALSO, holy shit. It's technically not Seh-VEE-kuh, it's originally pronounced as SEH-vih-kaa!
Anyway. She once said she had a rocky relationship with her father; well what if her father was this grumpy, potbellied man with a thick mustache that only ever stood at like 5'7"? Sevika likely looks just like him too, just with a more chiseled and feminine face.
Despite not "seeing eye to eye" with him—Sevika's words—the man was a girl dad. Although here's where the 'wholesomeness' comes to an end.
I mentioned how Sevika's name means maid—which in my own headcanon would've been her fate from the beginning.
Sevika's dad was likely strict, putting one daughter on a pedestal—and it was never Sevika. She had an older sister who her dad would treat as the trophy child of sorts. They never had a mother to intervene, so both girls had no choice but to let it happen.
The older sister—let's call her Rani—would come home with straight A's, and so did Sevika. However, Rani would be praised a whole lot more than Sevika ever was. See, Rani was a girly girl, someone who conformed and followed traditional South Asian values. She would be seen wearing her sari (or whatever else it's called) on holidays, while Sevika absolutely hated it. She was a tomboy, for fuck's sake! She wasn't about to wear something so uncomfortable for a whole week—hell no. And for that she always got in trouble.
"Well, I'm not Rani," Sevika would always say. But despite that, she still loved and respected her older sister... and her father.
Even now she would sometimes say, "But Baba was a good man, and I know he loved me deep down.”
