Hundreds protest Donald Trump’s Muslim ban outside JFK International Airport
Two Iraqi men with valid visas filed a lawsuit against Republican President Donald Trump’s administration after being denied entry to the U.S. at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Friday.
They argued that the president’s executive order preventing citizens of Iraq and six other Muslim-majority countries from coming into the U.S. for 90 days is illegal.
Amid reports of dozens of others including refugees and visa holders being detained at the airport, the New York Immigration Coalition asked for activists to stage a protest outside JFK Terminal 4 on Saturday morning. Read more.
In May 1939, as the Nazis were tightening their chokehold on Europe, the United States government rejected the SS St. Louis, a German passenger vessel carrying 937 refugees who were trying to dock at the Port of Miami.
Almost all of those refugees were Jews fleeing violence in Germany and Eastern Europe, according to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. The ship was eventually forced to return to Europe, where 254 of its passengers were killed.
On Friday, to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a pair of Jewish scholars — Russel Neiss and Charlie Schwartz — started tweeting the names of the people who were aboard the SS St. Louis, under the handle @Stl_Manifest. Read more

Shia LaBeouf, who is a jewish man was arrested for shoving a man who said “Hitler was right” to his face. I looked at the date on my phone and it says 2017, but for some reason it feels like 1945. People have actually been sympathizing with literal Nazis. What the fuck is going on?
27 January: International Holocaust Remembrance Day
On this day we honour and remember the nearly 21 million innocent souls who fell victims to hate racism and prejudice crimes, nearly 7 million of which were slaughtered for being who they were.
6 million Jews (1.5 million of which were children)
96 000 - 220 000 Romani
270 000 People with disabilities (be it physical or mental)
14 million civilians, caught in the crossfire, famine and ugliness of war from all over Europe.
This day is an important reminder of what once was and what should never be again.
May their rest be more peaceful than their life and may their memory be a blessing.
Never Forget.
I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
