It takes a certain level of chutzpah to try to deny women and people-you-think-are-women agency and control over their own lives and identities, and call that âfeminism.â

the socialisation that terfs like to talk about - and use to deny the possibility of camab womanhood - does not exist. the idea that men and women receive different messages in childhood - as though children were being separated into different rooms based on assigned gender to watch different educational videos - doesnât hold up.
women receive and internalise the same message of misogyny as men do. this is not, of course, a post about how men and women are âequally badâ, or anything like that. but women do learn misogyny. the difference is that women are misogynist towards each other while men are misogynist towards women, who have no recourse.
if a woman mistreats another woman, she will probably be mistreated in turn. this is normalised with words like âcatty,â âbitch,â - we are told this is simply how women are with each other. meanwhile if a man mistreats a woman, he faces no consequences. this is normalised by heterosexuality. his actions will be justified with phrases like âboys will be boysâ or, even worse, by attributing his violence to a secret fondness he does not know how else to express.
the consequence of this is that as women grow up, we either learn to treat each other better or risk having no female friends. (a lot of straight women take that second path!) meanwhile men continue to get away with their violence, and so their misogyny only grows deeper and becomes more entrenched.
i think it is common nowadays to imagine that boys and girls start out the same and grow apart, but i think we have envisioned it wrong. the difference between men and women is not that women do not go on to learn misogyny like men do, but that we unlearn it while men dont. and the reason we unlearn it has nothing to do with biology but with consequences, and the need to find shelter among other women. this need is even greater among lesbians, of course, which is why weâre all the best feminists ~
but the need is also greater for trans women, and even more so if you are both trans and a lesbian. trans women need female community because we are so violently rejected from the male - where even the odd âcoolâ straight cis girl is allowed to be a part of things.
what is also greater for trans women are the consequences we face for internalised misogyny. where cis women are often willing to let it slip amongst each other (nobodyâs perfect!) any instance of misogyny that a trans woman has not yet been able to unlearn (as all of us, cis and trans, are still and will always be trying to unlearn) is capitalised on, punished harshly, and held up as proof - either of our inherently violent biology or of our socialisation (depending on which brand of transmisogynist you ask).
and when trans women face these consequences they are often final. they are promptly exiled from whatever community they were a part of and never welcomed back. and there are so few communities that even want us in the first place.Â
(and this is not like when a man is ousted from a community. he will always have somewhere else to go, every other community in the world is meant for him - including countless which are only meant for him, and men like him. this âconsequenceâ he faces is no consequence at all.)
and so, a trans woman, having had this happen to her or seen it happen to someone like her, knows that her place in society is as precarious as it can be, and her holding on to it depends on her vast and in-depth knowledge of feminism, politics, social niceties, ethics, and her willingness and ability to perform all of these as well as any role or labor her community might demand of her. and that is her socialisation.
Funfact: The overwhelming majority of people who are prescribed HRT are cis. This has been true as long as HRT has existed.
Somehow, this has not prevented trans peopleâs access from increasing over time.
Literally the only thing that has done so in North America is a cis woman lying about us to the US government.
CIS PEOPLE ARE ALSO PRESCRIBED HORMONES WHEN THEY HAVE A HORMONAL IMBALANCE OR A DIFFERENT MEDICAL ISSUE THAT IS TREATED WITH HORMONES.
THATâS NOT A FUCKING GOTCHA.Â
ITâS DIFFERENT THAN CHANGING THE PRIMARY SEX HORMONE YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING BODY RUNS ON.
Okay, and?
Itâs still pretty fucking conclusive proof that cis people getting access to hormones is not a threat to trans peopleâs access to hormones, no matter how many of yâall scream that it is.
So, things transmeds have been demonstrably wrong about, a quick and incomplete rundown:
âYou need dysphoria to be trans!â Um, not according to literally anyone else, including the medical establishment youâre trusting to be the arbiters of transness.
âWeâre just stating scientific facts!â Half the shit youâre saying is not the domain of science, and basically all of it is actively disagreed with by every single scientific authority on the subject of trans people.
âIf transness is demedicalized, hormones will be reclassed as cosmetic!â It was demedicalized five years ago, hormones continue to not be cosmetic, their status as necessary does not depend on extreme-minority off-label usage, and the only thing that has ever gotten transition-related care classed as cosmetic is increasing the pathologization of trans people.
âIf cis people get hormones, doctors will get suspicious and stop giving them out!â Most of them go to cis people already.
âGatekeeping exists because of transtrenders!â Well actually, the book that literally all transition gatekeeping derives from specifically said that thereâs no such thing as a transtrender.
âThereâs an epidemic of cis people seeking transition for shits and giggles!â Still waiting on literally any evidence for that one. Meanwhile, trans people dying due to lack of care is a well-documented phenomenon.
Transmeds are what happen when your fear and hatred of bogeymen outweighs your care and concern for your fellow trans people.
I feel like youâre assuming that transmeds fully agree with the current system/any amount of gatekeeping that happens and thatâs just incorrect. Iâm personally being gatekept because of mental illnesses, I sure as fuck donât support a system that can just tell me to get better and come back when I am before I can get treatment. I also donât support the idea that HRT (as in hormone replacement therapy, as in replacing your primary sex hormone with that of the opposite sex) should be readily available to anyone who wants it. These things are not mutually exclusive.Â
There is a shitton of difference between estrogen/birth control for a woman with PCOS and a trans man on testosterone- namely, as stated above, the woman with PCOS isnât completely overthrowing the major hormone in her system (estrogen). It is for a demonstratable medical purpose in both instances- and you really can fuck people up if you misdiagnose them or give them the wrong hormones for their condition. (Fun fact: an ob/gyn put me on birth control to âcureâ my sex dysphoria; it only made it much worse over a three-day period to the extent that I ended up in the psych ward for trying to kill myself.)
And according to the OP, detransitioners wouldnât even remotely fucking happen instead of going up exponentially due to the âtreat first, ask questions laterâ model that a lot of informed consent clinics are pushing. (And yes, I have run into these people IRL.)
1. You, uh. You know testosterone is prescribed to cis women more often than to trans men, right?
2. What âdemonstrable medical purposeâ did the cis guy who got boobs have?
3. Who said that there shouldnât be a demonstrable medical purpose to medical treatment, exactly?
4. You can really fuck up people if you misdiagnose or misprescribe them with literally any medication. I nearly died and still have massive trauma because I was misdiagnosed and misprescribed psychiatric medication, and yet I can go from âno diagnosisâ to âpills in handâ in under an hour. So why does transition care have all these extra barriers?
5. You⊠missed the several occasions where Iâve explicitly stated that false positives go up as gatekeeping goes down, didnât you?
6. âExponentially,â on the other hand, is an extremely strong claim. I presume youâve got commensurately strong evidence?
7. I donât particularly care if the number of detransitioners goes from epsilon to epsilon squared. I care if the number of dead trans people per year goes down from the uncomfortably high number itâs at.
Why donât you?
I like this argument for one primary reason: My mother and I share updates on our hormone treatments.
My mother is on testosterone.
I'm on blockers and estrogen.
Funny how that works.
And yeah, definitely agree that reducing dead trans folks is more important since detransitioners are something like 1% of the 1% or so of the population. . .
I love being reminded of how all my mainstream liberal (in the âMORE đ FEMALE đ DRONE đ PILOTSâ sense) acquaintances are perfectly fine with mass killings of disabled people as long as itâs done before birth.
We really need disability advocacy movements to take off, because Iâm uh, maybe not exactly a fan of being alive but if I do anything about it that better be my own fucking choice.

Being a fan of something isnât inherently fetishizing. Implying that being a fan of media with relationships between men is inherently fetishistic is INCREDIBLY homophobic.
Oh look, he canât even make his arguments without going to the misogyny well. Itâs almost like he just wants a woke excuse to hate women. Anyway, anytime you want to stop diluting âfetishizationâ into meaningless, trans women everywhere would appreciate it.
imagine being a published author and not getting it so much
Iâm putting my face in my goddamn hands Kylo Ren is a TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE of a character who will get a redemption arc why is this hard for people to understand
âKylo did Bad Things and had a shitty attitude so he canât be redeemedâ
News flash: you have to do bad shit and be a bad person to warrant having a redemption arc????? Itâs?????? Required??????
Didnât you know guys you only deserve redemption for being just a little rude. I mean just look at darth vader :)
I just read an article that claims Kylo Ren having any humanity at all would be a shock?? Like the possibility that he might show some depth of character or - God forbid, the potential for *gasp* REDEMPTION?!? - is the most ridiculous idea theyâve ever heard???
The complete lack of basic story-telling structure is appallingâŠ
Itâs not even whether he deserves it or not (and the whole point of redemption is that you have to earn it and atone) - itâs that the author seems to think redemption is not interesting.Â
She literally said she found Vaderâs redemption arc boring too.Â
Itâs like, why do you even watch Star Wars if thatâs the case? đ
I know. If someone abhors redemption arcs, Star Wars is not the right franchise for them. And itâs only getting worse, considering the several characters who managed to find some form of redemption in Rogue One. We canât be having that!
Call me crazy but I donât care about real life killers getting redemption arcs, thatâs why I like fiction.
#reblogging for that last addition  #lmao i canât  #âstop oppressing real life killers by preferring fictional killers!!!â  #mate⊠ #cannot believe people with ~problematic fictional faves get accused of being murder apologists  #with these kinds of ass-backwards arguments  #star wars  via @thatblackdressÂ
i mean,,,fiction is a safe space to indulge in the wonderful idea that people who commit bad deeds can choose to atone for their actions, regardless of if other characters choose to forgive them. of course this isnt applicable to every scenario irl or even a feasibly realistic outlook to criminals in reality but i donât think anyone is claiming it is?
smh sometimes its just fun and pleasant to enjoy a story about characters who go down a dark path but then choose to turn back and commit to doing good even if that doesnât erase their actions?
like dude, i hear enough about how terribly we treat people irl, forgive me for wanting to see a redemption arc in a fictional space opera.
I think my favorite thing about that twitter thread is how she says redemption arcs are boring because sheâs seen them a million times. And then goes on to basically say that sheâs an authority on the subject because sheâs an award winning author who teaches MFA of âgoodâ stories.Â
She legit put good in quotes, so I was likeâŠ.so are they good? or do you just pretend that theyâre good?Â
I know liking a story is subjective and she says she likes to analyze stories, but her argument in the thread is basically that Kylo canât be forgiven because he killed Han. Not taking into account how the narrative frames him as being torn apart by the act, and being drawn to the light. It seems to me that her love of Han is keeping her from seeing any nuance of Kyloâs character, which is pretty sad given that sheâs an author herself.Â
It does look like this thread is pretty old, but based on a more recent tweet saying sheâs done with Star Wars, Iâd assume she didnât like TLJ, or the fact that it put Kylo on a more definitive path for redemption.Â

@fictionmeister queer has been a slur for quite some time Idk where you've been. LGBT people have since reclaimed it
Iâm a decade older than you, and when I was a young queer, queer was our word. It was the only word we used as a community.
And friendly reminder that the pink triangle literally comes from the WWII concentration camps and we use it for identification, too.

For all of you being childish and sharing memes about how the internet will be the same if Net Neutrality is repealed; that isnât the issue here. The issue is that 83% of the ENTIRE population was against this happening, yet it happened anyways.
The issue was that Ajit Pai was a former Verizon employee who was paid over $100 million from the telecom cooperationâs to repeal this, along with his two constituents. The issue is that the fate of the entire country was decided by 5 rich people and did not allow any hearing from the public.
The issue is that there were over 2 million identities stolen (including the identity of dead people) to post comments in favor of repealing Net Neutrality, 1.9 million of them which were confirmed fake and have legal investigation cases being opened on them for being fraud as well as identity theft.
The issue is that they were asked to halt this vote because of the illegal happenings so that they could have time to investigate it, INCLUDING Republicanâs, and they were denied.
The issue is that when giving their âreasonsâ as to why they thought repealing it was needed, they gave no VALID reasons and did not even acknowledge any of the reasons that the public was worried. In extension, they made no attempts to quell them, they just called us stupid. Instead they all made jokes and laughed, turning themselves into the victims for being rightfully criticized for being sellouts.
The issue is that they constantly poked fun at how idiotic they thought we were acting, even though we have legitimate, valid concerns. Even though weâre mostly concerned about those of us who have our livelihoodâs of our businesses on the line, they instead pointed fun saying âwe can still watch cat videos and share memesâ (legit something that was actually said in their âargumentâ yesterday). And that was literally all they said. The issue is that there wasnât even a âdebateâ, despite the corruption being brought to everyoneâs attention, and the evidence of the American people not wanting this.
The issue is that this sets the stance that we are willing to let the cooperationâs or anyone with money do whatever the fuck they want and get away with it. This issue is more than just internet freedom. Itâs about democracy. And if you canât see that, youâre beyond help. #SaveNetNeutrality
Another issue is that literally none of the people who voted on the subject were elected. 3 unelected corporate shills just decided the fate of 323,100,000 people and then tried to make ppl arguing with them on twitter sound like morons for wanting a say in their own future.
Additionally, internet access was deemed a human right (due to the huge role it plays in free sharing of information) by the United Nations over a decade ago.
This is not only an act of enormous selfishness, itâs also literally a human rights violation enacted on 300 Million people in the name of fiscal gain, while laughing at those peopleâs distress.
Hell, 3 supposedly Republican ârepresentativesâ voted against the will of 75% of Republicans. 3/4s of their own supposed party.
The only best interests they have in mind are their own. And you really want to question why theyâre so opposed to the idea of the average American being able to freely share information, particularly in one of the most turbulent political climates I can name.
food water and shelter were deemed human rights by the un too but do we provide that
We fucking should.
But ya know itâs only the straights that you gotta worry about

lesbiantonysoprano replied to your post âthe-witching-tree: thelaughingmandrake: lesbiantonysoprano: Sorry...â
How far back did you go weirdo jfc
Like, 4 pages? You donât exactly hide your shitty opinions.
Sorry for barging in on a community issue but males donât get to be witches
Historical witchcraft was comprised of men and women. Most of the people in Iceland that were killed for witchcraft were men. The coven of Isobel Gowdie had men in it. George Pickingall was a male witch.
In contemporary witchcraft we have Gerard Gardner, Alex Sanders, and Robert Cochrane. Without these men, contemporary witchcraft wouldnât exist. We would have no Wicca, no traditional witchcraft.
We have Andrew Chumbley, Daniel Shulke, Robin Artisson, Nigel Pearson, Nigel Jackson, and a host of others.
In short, youâre wrong.
Hey so trans lady mod here, and whilst this would be a good response if shitheel here were talking about men, theyâve actually got the thing tagged â#t.â This person is a trans-exclusionary radical feminist (terf), saying that trans women (âmalesâ) canât be witches.
So Iâm gonna say, firstly, may calamity visit your house and set up shop there, may your hands and tongue be as barren as your pathetic soul, may you be keenly aware in your deathbed of the rejection of all Gods, Powers, and AncestorsâŠ
And secondly: it would legitimately be a shorter list to note the historical and living cultures who DONâT associate trans people with mysticism. Goddamn, you could at least ATTEMPT the slightest of self-education with, say, the Gallai, two-spirits, and seidr practitioners, as a start.
Donât try to hide your painfully modern chucklefuckery behind the name of the Unseen Power, for it shall bite those who attempt to wield its authority on false pretence.
So, went through her #t tag, and let's just say she's the WORST kind of terf. Women who like eyeliner must have "barbie branded blank space instead of vulvas". People who like queer theory are awful. She's 100% a TERF.
If you somehow think that Trump is pro gay because he mouths the words and waves a pride flag upside down, but Hillary isnât because of an opinion from the 90s:
Youâre a goddamned idiot. Hillary is the REASON the US Passport system is more friendly to trans people than ever.
Hillary fucked up once upon a time, but has mostly owned that fuck up (mostly!) and had plans for making the queer communityâs lives better. Trump, on the other hand, keeps talking about how good heâll be for the gays (Using that oh so unfortunate wording. . .) and then runs next to Mike Pence, suggests justices that literally think we should continue to prosecute sodomy laws, and gives his staff positions to people who have spent their lives trying to kill us.
Remember that whole âactions speak louder than wordsâ idea?
The shitheads are now speculating about my motives.
Hint: Milo and Fox are only two of the reasons I hate you. But your sources are full of racism and homophobia, so none of them pass muster.
