Hi, I’m Invenothial/Inven/Ivvie and I’m a Warhammer mini painter!

I mostly play 40K/Horus Heresy but you might see the occasional AoS model from me!

I play AdMech, Mechanicum, GSC, Imperial Guard, Iron Warriors, SBG, OBR, and CSM, with more on the way!

Another great game this week, this time I fought imperial fists, which was fun because we were running basically the same list, having to adapt to effectively fight myself was a great challenge.

Turn 1 was mostly just staging on both ends, he killed my land raider in melee with his heavy intercessors after it took a shot from a lancer. After which in turn 2 my own heavy ints reduced his to half and the BGV coming out of the land raider took care of the rest.

I then dropped Caanok Var’s big blog of horrible death (tm) on the middle objective to sticky it and move up into his backline to wreak havoc.

Then in his turn 2 he made the mistake which we both agreed probably cost him the game, by dropping 3 inceptors, 6 aggressors with Tor Garadon, and 5 assault terminators with Lysander on one side of the board where I only had two dreadnoughts.

He obliterated the first in shooting meaning his aggressors couldn’t charge and were stuck there and I could just ignore them. Then an unlucky secondary draw meant he had to have his inceptors move back to his DZ to recover, and I just whittled down the termies with my lancer.

Him way overcommitting to that half of the board meant I racked up a lot of points by just holding my half and forcing him to walk over to me 5” plus advance a turn. My list really likes it when you focus too hard on one area, if you push one side too hard the other rolls forward and gains too much of a foothold to easily break me out of.

Overall very fun game, sorry I couldn’t get it out sooner, I forgot to do it Friday and I had a tournament yesterday, which I’ll probably post the results of tomorrow.

Got another game in this week against Red Corsairs, only remembered to take pictures during the middle of the game though.

It was a very close game with us both basically tied the whole time, ended up being a loss for me due to failing an important charge and keeping a secondary longer than I should have.

Some notable moments:

In turn 2 he deep struck his terminators in my back line, to which I responded by rapid ingressing my terminators next to his, mine proceeded to chase his the whole game, only catching them in turn 5 where I killed all but one of them with only 15 of my 30 hammer swings

Neither of my redemptor dreadnoughts rolled above 3 shots on their plasma incinerators the whole game, which led to Huron's unit living through multiple shooting phases.

Him charging those aforementioned terminators into my ballistus dread who was on one wound and in combat with a chaos biker, he swung first with the chaos biker just to see if he even needed to swing the termies, only to kill the dread and have it explode, killing the bike and one of the terminators.

The chaplain I mentioned in the last post, I couldn’t not paint him ASAP after he managed to survive two lictors trying to kill him.

This guy was fun to kitbash, he’s a BT emperors champion who I shaved all the Templar stuff off of and gave a mace from the sword brethren kit to act as a crozius. I also swapped the head for a spare one from the iron hands upgrade sprue and sculpted on a hood to make him feel more “chaplain-y”. Then threw on a back banner from the heresy Mk III marines kit.

And of course after his performance the previous day I added a lictor head to his base painted in my friend’s paint scheme.

Got together with a bunch of friends a couple days ago to play 40K and actually took pictures instead of forgetting like I usually do.

I got to play against tyranids and was swarmed turn 1 by twenty genestealers who luckily failed their charge into my sternguard but made it to the land raider and brought it down to one wound. After which the bladeguard inside hopped out and proceeded to single-handedly wipe one of the units plus their brood lord.

Turn 2 was much of the same but now it was raveners and melee warriors trying to eat my land raider and one of my dreads, the raveners failed fortunately and the bladeguard charged in. At which point my opponent used a nearby lictor to heroically intervene to try and precision out my chaplain who I did not expect to live.

My chaplain then proceeded to defy the odds and make 5 4+ invulns and killed the lictor by himself on the return swing.

The rest of the game was just a mad dash for me to get out of my DZ (and also stop the tyranid warrior unit trying to eat my home objective) but I wasn’t able to claw back my opponents early lead in the end.

Other moments of note were my chaplain surviving a SECOND lictor trying to precision him and almost living the whole game if my opponent didn’t bring in a third to secure points for no prisoners. My land raider failing overwatch on a maleceptor leaving it also on one wound to charge and kill the land raider. And my opponent charging 6 leapers into my 12 man terminator death blob, trying to precision out both the characters, and my termie ancient only taking 3 wounds from everything.

A little artillery for my Royalists

So it’s been a while huh?

I may have forgotten I had a tumblr, so sorry, but uhhh here’s some of the things I painted while I was gone!

I changed up my votann scheme, and also started a space marines army! They’re an iron hands successor who got corrupted by nurgle after stopping a chaos cult from taking over a planet.

But instead of falling to chaos they try their best to resist corruption and have gone on a full “fuck it we ball” crusade to kill as many enemies of the imperium as possible before they all succumb to their disease.

They’re called The Rusted Lepers (it’s not their original name, that has been removed from all records by the inquisition) which is largely my excuse to paint a lot of rusted metal, since it’s one of my favorite effects to do.

I’ll try to post here more, sorry again!

Behold my hyper fixation for the next two months!

The weather has not improved, but I still want to show off my cool tank, so here it is unprimed alongside a little buddy!

Vostroyan firstborn have been something on my to-do list basically since I started the hobby, but lack of money and lack of viable proxies limited me at the time. I do not have those limitations anymore.

I’m holding off on finishing my votann army till the codex releases and we get a bunch of cool new stuff (please GW not just one on foot character model). So for now this is what I’m doing!

Malcador is going to be my proxy rogal dorn TC if you couldn’t tell, and the infantry will be played as kriegers (I’m working on some kasrkin and cadians as well, going to paint them differently to set them apart, maybe as different imperial Russian battalions to keep on theme for vostroya)

I’ve been wanting to prime a kitbash I did for like a week now so I can get it painted and show you all but it’s been SO FUCKING HUMID AND IT’S TOO BIG TO USE BRUSH ON PRIMER CAUSE I’M LAZY!!!!

It’s been consistently above 80% for DAYS now because apparently it’s just always raining here now, I must’ve missed that memo.

I’m working on some smaller stuff for now but goddamnit I wanna show off my cool tank.
