I thinking of stuff like:
When Rusty walks into the bar, Lola sometimes thinks about the old stories of changelings, and has to remind herself that this is Rusty, and not some strange otherworldly thing that has stolen his shape (or is he?).
Cranky swears to his dying day, that he once saw Rusty take a dynamite explosion to the face, and walk away like he had just been pushed over.
Mayor Yonker approaches him to ask “what exactly do you think you’re doing, trying to go down into our mine” but stops short when Rusty looks into him and he suddenly feels like a bug being examined under a microscope (he lets Rusty in, after that, and chooses not to speak of it when Dorothy asks him if anything felt weird about Rusty).
Dorothy lays a comforting hand on his shoulder, and tries not to flinch when she finds him freezing. Dorothy catches him speaking to the air, speaking to those long dead.
When Rusty screams, a dozen voices come from his mouth. When Rusty is angry, speaks fly from his hands and everyone in the room feels as though there is an invisible hand pressing down on their neck.
But who cares if Rusty is not all Steambot, if he carries the power of Vectron in him, if he is a little up and to the left of Normal?
In the end, he is Rusty.
Ahh, love it love it. Yes, I see what you're getting at. Hosting part of a defeated hive mind will have some effects, naturally! But everything should be fine, so long as that part stays dormant... It's good this powerful bot is on the side of good.
Oh, I love this concept.
SW developer #1: hey you know how we should start the second dig game?
SW developer #2: how
SW developer #1: we should kill cranky
SW developer #2: oh hell yeah
It was probably to make it so that Dot wouldn't have to worry about him when the planet exploded. Tying up a loose end.
Don't mind me, just testing out expressions and colors with my latest blorbo Fen
"No explosions Dorthy?"
Dot overhearing a shiner say fuck in Oasis and frantically writing it down for further research
Dot should be allowed to say fuck.
But first she needs to learn the word.
And some Steam World Heist fanart. Piper my love <3 that’s the in game model little chibi on the top left :3
Did this for a secret santa exchange 🔥
Brainrot hours
“can a robot even have mental illnesses” they are allowed to have whatever they want. don’t be fucking rude

Steamworld Dig 2
the alternate opening to dig 1, where Rusty takes more damage when he falls through the earth and now Dot has to yank a pickaxe off a corpse, hit the switch, and carry a scrapped stranger up to be repaired all by herself
The Dot-is-the-protagonist-of-both-games AU!
Edit: Actually, no. This is the Reverse AU! Dot goes down into the mine in Rusty’s stead, and she’s the one converted to a voltbot and disappears. Rusty will have to go look for her in the sequel.
I wonder who is canonically the "strongest" SW protagonist
Canonically, they each work within very different parameters, so it’s hard to compare! Worse than comparing superheros, really.
Dot & Rusty are a lot better at jumping around, but they’re a little limited when it comes to combat. Piper has a gun, but it’s not the most powerful gun, and I don’t think she’s as agile. On the other hand, Armilly’s whole thing is dealing massive damage with a sword, so I have a feeling she’d win if there was no prep time.
this little alt universe Rusty haunts me
random idea to do a SWD1 (and maybe 2) pacifist run, only killing what's necessary to progress
oh oh wrt the frozen guy with a golden gourd, there's actually a blackboard or bulletin board in the alchemist uni that has a guy talking about planning an expedition to the frozen place to find the golden gourd! i think it has their name too. seems like nobody signed up and they tried to do it alone.
Oh yeah! That's the canon explanation, then.
Still, I can't believe it's a coincident (doylistically) that he looks just like Rusty. It's probably an easter egg for us to see and get a chuckle out of.
This guy looks a lot like Rusty.
Crack theory time: It is Rusty. Assuming that Quest takes place in the far future, and Rusty is enough of a voltbot to be functionally immortal, he lived to this time. Conveniently enough, we can’t see his furnace/power core.
Armilly and her group assumes he’s dead, since steambots die when the furnace goes out, but in fact he’ll be fine if/when he thaws out.
Gonna be honest I always assumed it was an uncle joe joke. Because he looks like Rusty and he’s dead.
#i always assumed it was just#haha this robot looks like rusty!!!!! isnt that funny /lh#like some other things that i wont say bc idk how far op is in swq
I assume either of those two things are the actual meaning that the devs intended! (The uncle Joe joke would have been perfect if we’d gotten a pickaxe-like weapon from him XD).
Armilly
Armilly, my beautiful daughter. <3Â (Also, Bingo.)
@steamed-cogs  already brought up the fact that she has the archetype of a male  character, namely a shounen protagonist.  Pretty much none of the story would change if she *was* male, but that  in itself just shows that this is a society without sexism. It makes her  a breath of fresh air. She’s full of optimism and dreams, and hits  things with a big sword.
At the same time, her struggles are real.  All she wants is to be a Hero - but she keeps getting rejected - or  worse, ignored. She seems to be shrugging it off, but the retro-specter  tells us that she does know that they look down on her because she’s a  “lowly” grocer’s daughter - and feels shame for it.
It’s hard for  her to change her mind with things that are important to her. Hard  enough to admit that the Hero Guild are a bunch of snobs and she neither  can’t nor should want to impress them. But meeting Gilgamech - her hero  that she’s admired all her life - breaks her heart. The way she’s so uncharacteristically quiet after that is really effective. But she comes out stronger in the end, because the Power of Friendship. ^.^
Also, Armilly is  the kind of protagonist I feel bad for putting out of my active party.  She’d want to be the one bashing all the baddies herself.
