i feel like i probably talked about this somewhere but it’s on my mind again, but bucky definitely has implants in his brain to help control his arm. there’s scars along the back of his head, neck, and shoulder from where they had to internalize the wiring, where it’s likely embedded under his muscle to protect them from being easily cut.

the wire that used to hang outside of his arm was external power. they couldn’t easily cool the batteries as well as the rest of the internal equipment, so they opted for keeping the batteries external to cool them separately. eventually, once bucky is able to be looked at by doctors and engineers who actually care about human comfort (tony stark), his arm gets a whole facelift. but ultimately, the wires leading from his socket to his brain are still there, as he hasn’t wanted to undergo any sort of surgery for it

Like, unless they have complex cooling systems and shit, they’re gonna have moving parts in them, gears and stuff, making their brains and shit work. Those create kinetic fucking energy, which warms them up, just like computers

a couple of updates

i’m gonna be scarce while i play my way through the mass effect trilogy and also probably andromeda bc i did actually enjoy that

that being said, i’m gonna lowkey go on hiatus. i think i just need a good break from writing and tumblr. i’ll still be jumping on occasionally to live blog stuff and ooc post, but writing will probably wait until early june.

so far i’ve added three muses to my test blog @omuses: my shepherd, thane krios, and the phoenix force. i’ll be tweaking those bios and adding stuff while i play and read stuff

bucky is the perfect height at 5′9″, neither freakishly tall nor too short, he fits easily through doorways and can find pants at thrift stores

one of my very favorite obscure story tropes is when there’s an episode/plotline/tabletop campaign session where the conceit is ‘each member of the gang gets trapped in a specially tailored dream/nightmare/illusory mindscape and has to break out’

my favorite addition to this trope is when the gang has to pass through everyone’s specially tailored nightmare scape and it’s just one gut punching trauma after the next that their friends help them through

Some good twists on these:

Nightmares:

- one party member’s nightmare seems like a perfectly normal and even pleasant scenario until the rest of the party realizes that what’s normal and pleasant for them is terrifying for the other member.

-the happy-go-lucky character who told everyone their fear is something benign like “ducks” actually has a massive and crushing trauma nightmare scenario they never told anyone about because they didn’t want to be a burden/still can’t trust.

- villain tries to make a nightmare scenario for someone and it backfires because they didn’t realize that guy is a grade-A Freak and they love it.

“ideal life” illusions

- villain attempts to make what they think will be an ideal dream life only for the protagonist to immediately point out a glaring flaw or get mad because they know damn well life isn’t like this

-a party member struggles to break free from the illusion because it’s just like regular life for them

- party discovers someone in the group has been not entirely honest about who they are when their ideal life doesn’t match thier projected persona at all.

-the illusion is exactly the same as real life save for one glaring but inconsequential difference, like someone having a different hair color.

See, here he is.  Not bothering anybody.  Eating a sandwich (Bucky can relax, he used the little toaster baggies, not the microwave).  Thinking about things, yes, because of who he is as a person, obviously, but not thinking about any one thing in particular with any real focus.  When he is accosted like this in his own home.  He’s not stupid.  He knows what Bucky’s angling around.  Bucky will call it being flirty; Tony calls it being a gremlin nightmare.

“You know,” he says, around a bite of his sandwich, “you can just say what you want.  It’s okay.  If you want to say please, Tony, top me like the manly man you are, it’s fine.  I will actually still respect you in the morning, I promise.”

first, i’ve removed my blogs from search results. i’m really fucking tired of personal blogs finding and reblogging my content. yeah, it’ll mean my promos won’t show up in tags and i’ll probably be harder to find as an rp blog, but the amount of notes i get from personals is infuriating.
