has anyone noticed that after the porn ban of 2018 tumblr was essentially killed from the mainstream and everyone flocked to other social media sites like twitter and meta. then those sites got enshittified to where twitter became Nazi Central and meta sites had an entire meme around getting “zucced” aka mark zuckerberg himself would ban you for saying a no-no word like fuck. and then the mainstream shifted to tiktok where infamous toddlerspeak sentences like “he got unalived by a pew pew” were born because if you once again say a no-no word like kill or gun or any other word that isn’t corporate i mean kid friendly then the algorithm will bury your post into the ground. and somehow we’ve come full circle and tumblr is now the most bearable social media site because although we can’t have female presenting nipples we can at least talk to each other like adults. has anyone noticed that at all or is it just me and the flaming skull

I’ve seen people do au’s of Bloody Mary where Grace’s twin brother is Colt Seavers from the fall guy which I honestly love but I haven’t seen anyone do what I consider to be the funniest option available which is make Ryland Grace an escaped Ken from Barbieland.

Think about it throughout PHM Ryland never talks about having a family he mentions having a girlfriend once in the book all we really know about her is that they moved in together briefly and that she had a lot of stuff.

Let’s say after Ken and Barbie break up. Ken decides to go out on his own and stumbles upon the real world. There he learns about science and becomes completely invested in that pathway. He either eventually figures out how to become a human or he stays a doll which could explain why he was the only one to survive his hyper sleep (and so he can live with rocky longer)

It could explain why he so heavily believes in non water based life so much because he WAS a non water based life form. Water doesn’t exist in Barbieland it’s all plastic.

Furthermore this could explain why he decided to become a teacher being a doll previously it’s only reasonable to assume he’d enjoy kid’s presence the same way Barbie does.

He also loves the beach and we all know that Ken’s previous job was beach

In the Barbie movie the CEO of Mattel states “we’re not worried about Ken…. Ever.” Meaning that it’s likely they wouldn’t care at all if a Ken left Barbieland and perused an education became a scientist and eventually a school teacher.

All this to say imagine Simon and Grace getting into some kind of fight where Simon is like

“You have no idea what it’s like to live your life forced to be a cog in the system. Knowing that what you want doesn’t matter, nobody caring about who you are not even your name matters”etc. etc.

and the entire time Grace is having PTSD flashbacks of this:

I'm right handed, but there are rare occasions that I use my left hand, and it makes me wonder if I'm actually ambidextrous. But I can't call myself ambidextrous because I would never use my left hand for a suspended amount of time, only on occasion. Yet I find myself relating to left-handed people despite calling myself right-handed. Right-handed is the appropriate word most of the time, but again... I wish there was a word for right-handed people that sometimes gravitate towards the other.

I think the reason everyone tends to gravitate towards Kane Pixel’s version of the backrooms is because he actually has a STORY he’s trying to tell.

The backrooms as an Internet horror concept has been degraded over time with the wiki and the TikTok slop content and 100+ levels and random weird ass entities.

Kane still does entities and weird rooms, but he uses those things to further his story. They become THEMES and NARRATIVE DEVICES. They exist to serve a greater purpose and not just give you a cheap jump scare. He actually puts thought into WHY the backrooms are scary and he doesn’t shove it in your face every 5 seconds.

And that’s why Kane’s version of the backrooms will always be better than the nonsense that we get as derivative slop on YouTube/tiktok. While they’re out here making “level Burger King” or whatever, Kane is actually trying to dig deep into the psychology of what these rooms and monsters MEAN to us humans and finding ways to distort and twist that meaning into something truly unsettling and yet profoundly interesting.
