I saw a ted talk video on youtube called something like "have you ever met a monster?" where a woman who used to be a journalist talked about the story of a serial rapist who she'd interviewed and apparently encountered in the elevator at her work once. The overall message was about how helping children who are being abused can prevent further abuse in the future, because that serial rapist had been sexually abused by his father and no one bothered to help him. And like, yes what he went through was horrific, but it really speaks volumes about just how dehumanized women are in men's eyes that a boy who underwent the torture that is sexual assault, could grow up into a man who saw inflicting that same torture upon women who never did anything to him as a viable outlet for his rage
The vast majority of sexual assault victims are women and most perpetrators of sexual assault are men. Despite being disproportionately targeted, women rarely inflict the same violence they’ve experienced. Funny how that works huh
