Iridessa stood in a meadow on a cliff overlooking a lake. Her hide shimmering blue she smiled serenely and flicked her tail. A picture perfect setting if there ever was one. This was where she planned to spend the new year, it was too pretty of a place not to.

Her ears perk and she whinnies softly before lowering her head, her eyes showing the ocean once more. Tail flicking she lifted her head suddenly, a twig snapped and she snorted. Alert and ready she waited.
A large canine foaming from the mouth, it looked like an older creature something that shouldn’t even exist in this day and age. Yet here it was, a great brown beast of a dog that snarled at them.
Iridessa remained calm and guarded her new friend. Watching the large canine, her blue eyes glowing faintly. What was wrong with this beast, better yet what was it doing here… alive?
….Big dog. Scary dog. Predatory dog. It looks monstrous. Almost prehistoric. It would take a fool to look at that creature and not be threatened. It’s terrifying eyes, it’s massive sharp teeth… And it certainly means them ill-will. Look at it snarl! Nestor quickly hides behind the equine. He’s a tiny little bird. The canine could snap him like a twig with one bite he’s sure. Could he outrun it? It has such long legs. Nestor shivers behind Iridessa.
He’s hiding behind a horse. Horses aren’t known to be… Well, horses are skittish animals. They run at the first sign of trouble. Really, it’s unusual that Iridessa hasn’t already bolted. Why is she still standing here in the face of this creature? Would she actually protect him?
Either way, Nestor’s instincts tell him to stay behind her. It seems like his best bet.
She snorted some and stomped, ears pinned back. The look on her face a mix of pity and disgust. This creature should have been dead long ago, she shook her head some.
The large dog advanced and snarled, eyes wild as it approached ready to kill.
Iridessa reared back and lashed out at the air in front of it with her hooves before dropping down and clacking her teeth. She was standing her ground, she was not going to move.
The beast launched itself at them. Iridessa turned and kicked out her back legs, leaving two hoof marks on the beastly creature’s head. She turned and let out loud very powerful neigh. The dog stumbled and fell unconscious.
She snorted some and rolled her eyes before turning to Nestor. Tail flicking she nickered and tilted her head.

Iridessa nickered softly once more and flicked her tail. It wasn’t uncommon for others to get lost in her eyes, especially those who lived by or in the ocean. It was reminder of home and way to calm those who needed it most. When her rider had been alive that was how she had calmed her when she was upset, calmed her when she got angry and wanted to use her powers.
Iridessa was more the a protector to her former rider, she was a companion and confidant. A reminder of home. Sadly her rider had died on land and left Iridessa all alone. Now, now she was a wanderer and had no one.
She gave a light whicker and stayed put, it seemed to her this friendly bird had needed a little calming. Relaxing was always good for the body and soul, the mind as well. She knew that much, her rider had told her so.
Hm… Nestor gently strokes Iridessa’s face. He finds he has a lot of questions about this horse.
Is this a wild horse? She seems too friendly to be wild. Wild animals are often shy, skittish and nervous. But it’s not impossible. There have been wild animals before that have been friendly to him. Nestor also finds wild animals tend to be more intelligent than a person might expect.
But what if this isn’t a wild horse? Does someone own her? Where did she come from? There are no farms nearby. Did someone take their horse into the woods to ride and lose track of her?
It’s a very strange situation but he accepts it. Iridessa doesn’t seem distressed at all, like she’s lost someone or missing something. So Nestor won’t worry either. He makes a soft chirp at the horse and lays his small bird again against her for a moment.
Nice horse. Good horse. He loves this horse. He stays like this for a long time, enjoying her presence. Until he snaps out of it again and draws back.
“Onde fica a sua casa? Where is your home?” He tries both languages, not sure which the horse might respond to.

And he spoke more than one human language. Well she knew she was beautiful, but hearing him say it that way just made her smile. Tail flicking again she took another step closer and lowered her head some.
Her right eye meeting his gaze, her own like a blue ocean gem and if you looked long enough you could almost see the ocean itself in her eyes. She nickered softly and pushed her nose to his cheek. He seemed like a good bird to her.
….What are those eyes?
Now Nestor has some vague awareness that there is something odd with Iridessa. Sort of. He is so struck by her eyes that his mind is void of all thought. He watches. He watches what look like to him ocean waves rising and falling in elegant swirling patterns. He lives close to the ocean. He sees it regularly. The color, the shine of the light on the blue… It’s so unmistakable. But how can an ocean be in a horse’s eyes? Is he imagining it? His imagination has never been so creative before.
One of his stupid bird instincts says peck the pretty thing! but thankfully Nestor is not a slave to his instincts. He is not going to peck Iridessa’s eyes.
He snaps out of it. He feels weird now. Different. Just from looking in those gorgeous blue eyes. Nestor takes off one of his gloves so he can feel Iridessa’s fur and he gently touches her snout.
He feels so peaceful. Normally he carries a lot of stress with him but this horse made him feel peaceful. Is there some kind of magic here or is he just…. a weirdo who likes this horse a whole lot?

Iridessa perked her ears some and let her tail flick. Taking a step closer she nickered softly, eyes shimmering. She had never seen a bird quite like this one, then again birds never talked to her either. Always too busy or she was in the water.
She gave a soft snort and tossed her mane again, what a curious thing to have a bird speak human to you. Very curious indeed. She took another step then waited, watching him.
Nestor removes his hands off his beak and clasps his hands together. Pretty pony!!! Pretty pony!!! He loves horses! He wishes he had a good horse treat on him to offer, but sadly all he has in his backpack is a turkey sandwich. A horse wouldn’t eat that, would she? He might try at some point anyway…
He begins to take little hops towards Iridessa. Hops instead of steps. Nestor starts hopping when he’s happy and seeing a horse makes him very happy indeed. When he’s close enough, he stops. He talks to Iridessa in a slightly higher pitched voice then usual. This is the tone of adore he uses to talk to anything he thinks is cute.
“Olá, cavalo bonito…” Horses have such lovely soft noses, he wonders if he might get to pet… He’s not reaching for Iridessa yet, wanting to be sure she’s very comfortable first.
And he spoke more than one human language. Well she knew she was beautiful, but hearing him say it that way just made her smile. Tail flicking again she took another step closer and lowered her head some.

@iridescentfins (I love horse)
Sooo pretty… At the moment, Nestor sees nothing odd about Iridessa’s shimmer. She must just have very sleek shiny fur.. Or it’s just a trick of the light… His hands move just slightly, but he can’t seem to remove them from his beak. He is just struck by an intense sense of wonder.
This is a magical moment to be wandering around in a forest and see a horse. It’s magical enough to see something like a deer or a fox, but a horse? Wow wow wow. He can’t fathom why she’s here. Is there a farm nearby she escaped from or something?
She doesn’t seem afraid of him. Nestor takes a tentative step closer. If Iridessa seems at all wary then he will stop moving or even back away. He’s trying to see if she’s receptive to him coming closer.

Nestor is extremely surprised to see a gorgeous horse wandering around! He gasps softly and covers his beak. He keeps his eyes on Iridessa, transfixed. She's so pretty! He loves horses so much. They are such elegant and strong animals.
The black Freisian turns her head in the light, ocean blue eyes like a pair of pools as she looked toward to the bird. She tossed her head some and the light caught her just right making her black coloration shimmer blue for a mere second as if it had been a trick of the light. She stomped and looked to him, strange a talking bird. Then again she could talk to fish and horses as easy as pie. Who was she to judge?
Her tail flicked and she wondered just what he was doing out here in the woods.

She wonders if anyone is out there, the horse trotted along a trail and looked around. Animals abound, no people and now people that were actually mermaids. Iridessa felt somewhat alone, there were not many Hippocampus out there that could change like she could.
Iridessa has found a pumpkin patch and on looking around and seeing no one tending it, she decides this might be a good place to rest. Using one of the pumpkins to rest her head on as she folds her legs under her.
