More about the lighthouse keeper x fisherman Natsby au I was thinking up.. I think Jay would visit originally to ask for directions or something, he probably went out too far on the water. Then he gets there and he finds out the lighthouse keeper isn't some old dude like he thought and is instead a boy his age. And so he starts intentionally going there more.

Nick's there cus he wanted change in scenery, wanted somewhere secluded, and he picks back up writing there. Jay uses this to his advantage lowkey and totally just starts lying to Nick about himself. And Nick, being lowkey kinda gullible and also just intrigued, starts writing down a lot of these stories. And Jay (who at this point would still be James Gatz, but he'd lie to Nick about his name) would make up these stories of parties and insane wealth and all these things.

This fic has it all. Pain, agony, suffering… you name it, it’s in there! Legitimately though it’s a fantastic story and would 1000% recommend.

Now, the rest of my recs depend wildly on your personal taste on what you like in fics; I personally am a hurt/comfort (or just straight hurt haha) type of guy, so here’s a couple of my favorites. Feel free to send in another ask with your fic preferences if mine aren’t to your taste!

First, here’s HoldenVitaminCaulfield’s fic The Torture Of Small Talk:

Here’s the author’s summary: Or a Great Gatsby AU in which Nick and Gatsby *met* during the war and don’t dare bring it up when they reunite on West Egg. Awkwardness, misunderstandings, and humiliation ensue.

Basically, Nick and Jay fucked a few times during the war and then re-meet at one of Jay’s parties. Lots of funny miscommunications. Great fic, I’ve re-read it a lot, would recommend.

Next, the flowers blooming from your hope series by the_ocean_weekender:

This one’s actually a two-part series: part one is flowers blooming from your hope, and part two is my heart, it bloomed into a meadow. It’s a Gatsby hanahaki AU! Both of them get it, but Nick has it first, and therefore worse. Absolutely delicious angst, but with a nice happy ending to tie it up. The writing style is absolutely beautiful and I love it so much, could not recommend enough.

Lastly (don’t want to make this too long haha) there’s MacAttack’s A Charming Millionaire and His Hermit Best Friend:

Author’s summary: A story in which Gatsby simply gives Nick his presence and Nick falls deeply and suddenly in love. Unfortunately for him, it's hard to love when you're an anxious recluse hiding your cottage.

Basically the classic “Oh, I like him but he could never like me, whatever shall I do? :(” situation. Resolves happily, just a fantastic story all around, perfect for a quick read when you don’t have a ton of time on your hands!

Okay I couldn’t stop myself from adding one more I’m sorryyyyyyy.

One thing about me is I loooooooove me a good sickfic, so I couldn’t leave out swam in the ocean, slept on my own, another fantastic fic by the_ocean_weekender:

Spiderman and Deadpool team up on the field when Spiderman takes a hit so bad (or maybe a spell?) that Deadpool's gotta scramble to save his life. somehow transplants Spidey's consciousness into his own headspace and Spidey's body becomes inhabitable (i legit no clue how or what is happening). Thus starting Deadpool's quest to finding Spiderman a meatsuit to inhabit.

Peter becoming a box in Wade's head, fighting off the other two, White and Yellow, and running a funny commentary of Deadpool's daily life which WOW the untapped potential of Peter's sarcastic sassy directly in Wade's head 24/7 would be wild.
