Just orphaned all but 3 of my 35 fanfics on my ao3 account… I think I’ve grown as a writer since then + I also showed my irl friends my account and I wanna leave that behind me + while they’re all gay as fuck, I’m not really ready to come out to them yet… tbh it’s kinda freeing. My fics still there! I’ve posted the link for half of them on here. They’re all at least a month old and have lived their lives… but I’m ready to let them go and that’s fine
barebones thoughts on Zdarsky’s DD comics (spoilers!!)
Although I do really need to re-read them cause it’s fuzzy in my brain, having read Zdarsky’s initial run + devils reign + whatever the hell came after that I’ve honestly forgotten about. I will say I enjoy most of the comic panels out of context more than what they actually represented in the story cause ???? Like that fight he had with John Walker. That scene out of context is really cool cause you can imagine it genuinely meaning something but the scene in context is Wilson Fisk fucking hates Daredevil and sends the Thunderbolts after him bc hype moments and aura and he and John Walker do not have a meaningful conversation with each other before or after this scene so WHO CARESS. Why are you calling this man a false believer, yeah that’s true but you’ve known him for like 5 minutes CHILL OUT. If he was a serious antagonist or even threat for more than three seconds that would be a great scene but instead it’s just kinda weird and the whole comic has scenes like that…
HOWEVER. The art is really fucking good, MattElektra will always please me, the Hand of God stuff at the very end was amazing (tbh it got very good towards the end which was nice) and had me fucking hooked so you know what, we don’t care. It’s a comic they gotta shove in their epic screenshot Pinterest moments in there to get sales and I’m sure someone on that writing team had just a bunch of scenes they wanted to use with no real idea on how to connect them so, yay. I’ll imagine a more meaningful context in my head and be satisfied with the moment itself. Also, Matt actually killing a guy (even if on accident) and not having it get copped out and having to deal with the emotional and physical consequences of it? Incredible.
Overall I’d give them solid 7/10, beautiful. Also Cole North ily I have no fucking clue what they were doing with u towards the end but hey it started out strong so. Victory. Thanks for ideologically challenging Matt even if they kinda gave up on that. Not your fault king

Been a really long time since I've watched Daredevil but I do remember coming away from it feeling like it presented a pretty compelling internally-consistent moral justification for the vigilante thing. You're not planet-crackingly powerful, it's just that you can hear, in detail, every awful thing your neighbors are doing to each other, every night that they're doing it. You can't not know and you can't pretend not to know and when the kid tells you the next day that he just fell down the stairs you can't fall back on the provided ambiguity to absolve yourself of your responsibility to act.
