@projectliterature event 02: underappreciated — WE HUNT THE FLAME.
love is for children, said the girl. death is for fools, said the shadow. darkness is my destiny, said the boy. allegiance is my undoing, said the eagle. suffering is our fate, said the beauty. and they were all horribly wrong.
it’s incredibly important to read books by authors of color but when talking about wanting to read more diverse books can we also remember that there are other ownvoices books that can be written by white people that are also important like people with disabilities and people who aren’t cis / straight also matter i am personally tired of having people only correlating diversity with race also these identities can all intersect i’m not saying they can’t but i am personally tired of seeing lists of “diverse reads” and it only being about authors of color who are able bodied etc.

@projectliterature event 03: Adaptations — The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
“We lead strange lives, chasing our dreams around from place to place.”
@projectliterature event 03 : adaptations — the night circus
the circus arrives without warning. no announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. it is called le cirque des rêves, and it is only open at night.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio
“We carry with us, as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness.”
@fandomaestheticnet gtktm: favorite book » The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien ‘But last night I told you of Sauron the Great, the Dark Lord. The rumours that you have heard are true: he has indeed arisen again and left his hold in Mirkwood and returned to his ancient fastness in the Dark Tower of Mordor. That name even you hobbits have heard of, like a shadow on the borders of old stories. Always after a defeat and a respite, the Shadow takes another shape and grows again.’ ‘I wish it need not have happened in my time,’ said Frodo. ‘So do I,’ said Gandalf, ‘and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’

ANJALI CELEBRATES 100: @nolu asked james carstairs or wylan van eck?
“You’re our chemist, Wylan,” said Nina hopefully. “What do you think?” Wylan shrugged. “Maybe. Not all poisons have an antidote.” Jesper snorted. “That’s why we call him Wylan Van Sunshine.”

“I would come for you,” he said, and when he saw the wary look she shot him, he said it again. “I would come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together—knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”

@dailyaoc event 01: get to know the members & @diversenet event 03: diverse novels — [ girls of paper and fire ]
we might be paper girls, easily torn and written upon. the very title we’re given suggests that we are blank, waiting to be filled. but what the demon king and his court do not understand is that paper is flammable. and there is a fire catching among us.

@projectliterature event 04 : free week — the silver dark sea by susan fletcher
— carefully, she stands. and she runs her hand across the top of thomasina's gravestone as she leaves, like how, as girls, they would let go of hands — gradually, moving their fingertips over each other's palms, as gently as raindrops. she has done this for sixty-eight years and there is a dip on the stone from this. she has worn the stone down with her loving goodbyes.
