Protecting people who are seen as worthless in society - drug addicts, sex workers, homeless people etc - is absolutely central to antifascism because their destruction is central to fascism
Look at that photo
The Greek government has secretly expelled more than 1,000 refugees from Europe’s borders in recent months, sailing many of them to the edge of Greek territorial waters and then abandoning them in inflatable and sometimes overburdened life rafts.
Since March, at least 1,072 asylum seekers have been dropped at sea by Greek officials in at least 31 separate expulsions, according to an analysis of evidence by The New York Times from three independent watchdogs, two academic researchers and the Turkish Coast Guard.

PSA: Please Don’t Kick Automatic Door Buttons
I use a wheelchair.
Since COVID started, I’ve seen people kick automatic door buttons to avoid using their hands. This is horrible for me, since these are high touch areas I cannot avoid.
People who can walk can elbow those buttons, but they are often too high for me (a seated person) to do that - meaning that sometimes I have no choice but to use my hands. And if the bottom of your feet has touched that button, that is negating any efforts I’m making to keep my hands clean.
Since I basically have to use my hands for everything, and many wheelchair users are in the COVID “high risk” category, this is really bad.
I would really appreciate if people used their elbows, or literally any other part of their body to press the button. Just not your feet.
Thanks.
honestly missionaries are evil. the idea of traveling the world to tell people Who Didnt Fucking Ask that their beliefs are wrong in the hopes that theyll adopt your beliefs seems sinister
The Christians in the notes whining are so absolutely stupid
I don’t even want to talk about how they specifically target poor people and hold basic necessities over their heads in exchange for faith.
“I read about an [Inuit] hunter who asked the local missionary priest, ‘If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?’ ‘No,’ said the priest, ‘Not if you did not know.’
‘Then why,’ asked the [Inuit] earnestly, ‘did you tell me?” -Annie Dillard
(edited to remove slurs/dated language)
My culture and our religious practices (Inuit) have been decimated by Christianity and I fucking hate pretending its a neutral thing.
Christians in the notes still don’t get it. They’re saying that missionaries aren’t that bad bc they’re just trying to save all ppl and they’ve started quoting bible verses and whatnot but here’s the thing: I. Don’t. Believe. In. That. Like your beliefs and scriptures are non applicable to me (and everyone else who isn’t Christian, or at least abrahamic) bc we’re not christian and I literally don’t care if you think we “need to be saved from Satan” or smg bc frankly, it’s not your business and that “well meaning, innocent” intention is still forcing your religion onto us. OP is right. Missionaries are evil. Leave other religions tf alone.
It’s been 10 years???? Omfggggg

White women in the south don’t know how to cook
Last week I watched this YouTube video about a 3rd gen restaurant that makes box lunches in some where Virginia. The front of the house was all white and the owners were white. The people making these labor intensive box lunches were all Black and some of the workers there were 2nd and 3rd gen workers. Watching the video really pissed me off because the people making the food could easily make their own restaurant and the owners wouldn’t know what to do. The owners couldn’t fire the people that prepare their box lunches, not all at once anyways. When the owners said we take care of our people it made sick.
Another restaurant story that pissed me off was this cafe in Charleston S.C. The owners parents had maid to cook their meals. When the woman was getting on years owners asked their former maid to work in the kitchen and teach their chef her recipes. Don’t worry they have a picture of the woman in the restaurant.
All “good ol’ fashioned southern’ cookbooks” were stolen recipes from black women, usually with a smiling ugly racist white woman on the cover.
It’s fucking disgusting
So, a lot of people are offended by this post, and I’m honestly, truly, wholeheartedly, and deeply sorry, that you would think I would give a fuck, about your fucking opinion.
I’m just blocking to save myself from hearing your worthless opinions any further.
here is alton brown saying the same thing - http://twobrowngirlstalkback.tumblr.com/post/147184677153/alton-always-coming-with-the-receipts-get-on-that
Basically, like it *should* be common knowledge that traditional southern cooking was created in black kitchens
Southern/Soul food is rooted in African tradition. Peanuts, also called ground-nuts, were brought to North American from Africa; you can’t stop at a gas station in the south without seeing “boiled p-nuts” for sale. We also call them goobers, which comes from the word “nguba.”
Rice known as “Carolina Gold” wouldn’t have been a cash crop without the knowledge of slaves from West Africa, who already knew how to cultivate it and were sold to plantations because of this skill.
American food traditions, especially in the south, can and should be attributed to the Africans brought here against their will who kept parts of their culture alive despite grueling hardships.
Alton always coming with the receipts.
Get on that Cutthroat Kitchen train if you haven’t already.
You’ll thank me later.
Netflix basically just ruined the career of a black Muslim woman. They fucked up with the promotion of that movie
Cuties is not some sick pedophilic movie.
The director, Maïmouna Doucouré, is a Senegalese woman and the movie is based off her own life. The movie talks about the hypersexualisation of young girls.
Y'all rushed to send her death and rape threats and she had to deactivate all her socials.
This is the original poster but for some reason Netflix decided to put out that other one and use that gross description.
You can talk about how frustrating it is that Muslim girls only get “I hate my religion and some white person is saving me from oppression” as representation. But this is not that. She’s talking about her life. The problems you have aren’t with her it’s with production companies.
this is a review from january, long before this poster controversy, and it notes that there’s some heavy and uncomfortable subject matter, but praised doucouré for the way she handled it. there is no mention of pedophilia or inappropriate content. a film where little girls are figuring out who they are and what it means to grow up in this culture that keeps sexualizing women younger and younger is difficult and it’s going to make people uncomfortable, but this film is not the problem. if you are raising your eyebrows at some of the things mentioned in this review, that is the point.
netflix botched this, they have admitted to botching it, they have publicly apologized, and they will release the film with a different poster. people are ruining a woman’s life and career because she dared to share her own story and dared to speak out about something that affects all girls and women. Maïmouna Doucouré’s coming-of-age movie criticizes the very outrage that’s now being lobbied against it.

That sentiment is so sweet and pure.
