Mother Earth Healing Crystal Grid

Meditation & Spell Work...Does it Help?

For some people meditation is a breeze, they pick up on it with no problem. For others like myself, it seems impossible at first. You can't sit still, your leg goes to sleep or cramps up, if you lay down you end up asleep, and the number one problem most of us have...the little voice in your head just won't shut up! How am I suppose to be calm, relax, and shift into an altered state of mind with all this chatting going on! Then you end up frustrated, telling yourself you don't need to meditate to cast an effective spell. Well your right on some level, you can cast effective spells without the use of meditation, but....I found that with meditation my spells were more focused and effective. The more I meditated, the easier it became. I struggled for about a year or more, and then it seemed to be like second nature to me. My body and mind started to flow into a meditative state as soon as I would set down and think about it, my consciousness shifted easily, and the little voice became less and less chatty. You don't have to sit for hours at a time, you don't even have to sit! You can do walking meditations if it's hard for you to sit still. Starting off with 10 to 15 minutes is enough, and I have found that doing a morning meditation also helps me cope with daily stress. The one thing you want to happen when you cast a spell is to be really focused on what you want the outcome to be. You want to release the right intention (energy) out into the universal flow. Meditation is a key factor in achieving this goal. I hear a lot of people say "I just can't meditate", but if your a practicing Witch I urge you to push through until you reach your goal because the end result is so worth it! IsisShaman

Meditate on what you are about to

Coming Out Of The "Broom Closet"...

Telling people you are a Witch, Wiccan, or Pagan is a hard thing to do if the people you are telling are narrow minded, intolerant, or just plain ignorant.  Even if these people happen to be your family.   I live in a small town in NC and there is a church on every corner.  So coming out of the broom closet here was a scary thing to do.  But I believed in what I was doing, and I knew it wasn't a bad thing so I just held my head up and showed them I was proud to be Pagan.  At first it was rough going...

My neighbor found out I was pagan and posted bible quotes at the end of his fence where our property line meets.  I had to laugh at that.  It doesn't bother me now what these narrow minded people think of me, but when I first began practicing I was very nervous about how people were going to react to my choices.  I kept it quite for about 2 years.  My husband at first didn't want me telling anyone that I was Pagan, I think he was worried what people might do to us, like getting us fired from our jobs, or something crazy like that.  Unfortunately, things like that do happen, and in 2003 people were not as open as they seem to be now. 

Finally I decided enough was enough, I was tired of hiding in the shadows, so I started wearing my pentagram all the time, even when I went to work.  I got a few stares, and a few people ask me what it was and why I was wearing it, so I explained it and they seemed to be okay with it.  My family was very accepting of my path, only a few of them called me a devil worshipper.  (I really hate that too!)   Now my husband tells everyone his wife is a Pagan/Witch.

I managed to get through it unharmed, I have been lucky but some people still can't come out of the broom closet.  Their families and/or work would make it very hard on them.  I feel for those of us who still have to hide.  It's a shame that in 2014 some people are still that narrow minded.

Effective Spell Casting...

There are so many ways to cast a spell.  Everyone has there own way of doing it.  But no matter what way you use, there are several important things that need to be included for the spell to be effective.

     Knowing exactly what you want, and why you want it.    

     Be very specific in your wording of the spell to match your need.    

     Try and time the spell with the correct day, hour, or moon phase, if possible.    

     Focusing and Visualizing your need or desire.    

     Raising and Releasing the energy.    

     Not dwelling on, or talking about the spell.    

One way I have found that helps me is to sit down and write a letter of intent to my Goddess.  I put down what I want to happen, why I want it, and how I want things to go.  This way I am sure i'm sending the right message out into the universe.

The hardest thing to do is not dwell on your spell, but it really does make a difference when you let it go. 

Practice makes perfect, don't get discouraged, and believe in yourself.  Magic comes from within, and we all have it.
