Okay so... don't laugh. But I had this idea in my head for so long and I just gotta share it.
Male wraith doing a little courting dance for their queens, or other males. Full on shit like this. The idea if frying me everytime I imagine it 😭
I accept this as canon
Stop being so mean to Todd!! He (used to) eat people but we all have flaws.
By the end of the series enough people know about the stargate program (both in the military and outside it) that getting a full list of people in the know can’t be easy, and even if you did the list probably wouldn’t be accurate.
Which means. There could totally be an earth based mystery episode plot where there are two groups who both know about the gate but think the other group hasn’t been read in, who spend the entire episode unintentionally sabotaging each other by hiding whatever alien evidence they find and covering for any weirdness.
I’m picturing like, a pair of former SG team members who are now park rangers and an active SG team posing as FBI agents, on a murder mystery in Yosemite or something. And neither group can put together enough evidence to solve the thing because look we thought we’d figured it out but if we’re right there should be a damn ring transport here and there isn’t—
[cut to the ex-SGC park rangers hauling the rings away in a pickup truck the previous night]
Until of course everything culminates in a dramatic shootout, the fake-FBI team pulls zats while the park rangers reveal an alien stun grenade and after the random goa’uld murderer or whatever is down both teams are just like

I'm sure this is what people meant when they told me I was like Lucy
My personal headcanon as to why Sheppard has super strong Ancient genes is that he has a great/great-great grandparent who is an Ancient. I feel like one Ancient could have stuck around that long, or ascended and then returned to this plane? I know it's not really supported by canon, but I like the idea of it.
The originator of whump btw
I've almost finished my rewatch of Atlantis (saw it for the first time as a kid and forgot most of it). Anyways, I really like it.
I think if I had to compare SG-1 and Atlantis, I would say that Atlantis had a more consistent quality throughout, but SG-1 had higher highs (and lower lows) . You can definitely tell that the creatives took what they learned from SG-1 to give Atlantis a more solid start. I also think the Wraith are genuinely horrifying, and I like the unique horror/thriller vibes Atlantis had, especially in the earlier seasons. I also think Atlantis gives us some of the best characters/character arcs in all of Stargate.
However, I think SG-1 was far better at team dynamics/chemistry. That's not to say Atlantis didn't have that, but there was a rotating door of characters. Ford was replaced by Ronon, Carson was replaced by Keller, Weir was replaced by Carter who was then replaced by Woolsey... I don't think these changes were bad, per se, but I do think it took a while to establish a solid team dynamic. While SG-1 did replace characters, it wasn't until after season 5, and Atlantis only got 5 seasons.
Which leads me to my next point: Atlantis deserved more seasons. At least as many as SG-1. It was such a great show, and there was still so much left to explore. I mean, some of SG-1's best episodes were in what, season 7? Atlantis could have done so much more with even a couple more seasons.
As a final note, what they did to Dr. Weir was unfair, and she didn't deserve to be killed off and then brought back but only kinda. Very lame.
we’re watching Stargate Atlantis for the first time and this just. just keeps happening.
Every. Single. Time.
