Like, he went to the past with the sole purpose to sacrifice his life to save them, just to end up looking like a villain because he started beating people up without trying to offer any explanation.

Dusknoir probably didn't even had to like to gain the trust of everyone. He just said that he was there to defeat Grovyle and everyone just decided that he was a super cool nice explorer guy lol.

Yeah turns out I (seemingly previously a singlet, hence the doubt) split a fictive of said soulmate and he really wanted to talk to his partner. They’re together now and very happy.
