They say, friends that selfie together stays together. FOREVER. Oh well, as cheesy as it may sound, our 15 years of friendship (and counting) proves it.
I’ve always been redundant to this but who cares? We’ve known each others’ inside and out since our gusgusin days during the times I am regularly receiving my dad’s palo and during the days that no technology (mobile phones and tablets) could not hinder to bind us neither separate us.
I can’t wait for our next getaway soon! -A
Nothing beats a throwback Thursday post about good food shared by good friendship tested by time and distance. And that’s one reason for us to celebrate Christmas holiday together the three of us.
As usual we had exchange gifts as per tradition that was made possible thru our wishlist which Kim forced us (just kidding) to post ours. Haha! Our happy faces reflects what we had in our belly: Paella Negra, Gamberetto Ala Rebecca, Rabo de Toro and Chipirones Ajo.
And that was one hell of an order for just the three of us that when we left Pastor’s Gastro Pub that afternoon, we can’t barely breathe. Thanks to Ivy’s friend, Jose who recommended all these good stuff.

Suddenly, I found myself back here. It’s been quite a while. I lost my will and motivation for writing in the past few months. I don’t know why. Was it because of work? Was it the sick days and death of my beloved Britney II? Was it because of my starting pasty business? Didn’t I found enough time to write here? Or was it just I lost interest?
I don’t want to justify these excuses I made for myself. Plain and simple. I just forgot about this.
But now, I’m back. For no reasons. Thus the title of this post says. I guess it’s time time revive this. And I would, taking baby steps. I won’t promise but I’ll try.
Earlier this morning, my sister woke me up in "emergency" kind of tone and crying. It's about my big fur baby, Britney. Sis and Ma narrated how Britney fell down in our stairs while she's on our way up after finishing her "morning business". She stumbled down the stairs and lay lifeless on the ground but still BREATHING. As heavy as a sack of rice, Ma was able to carry her upstairs to our sala. And that's where I was able to witness her agony. We're all crying because we are not prepared to anything that could happen to her. We're crying because it is hard for me us to see Britney suffering. Suddenly, she struggled to stand up but her knees gave up on her. Her feet sliding in our vinyl. So I helped her stand by holding her upright while I hugged her tight, crying, praying and calling all the saints. Because of the struggle she's managing to fight, her breathing becomes different. She's running for her breath, her tongue dangling in my shoulder and her eyes are turning white. Ma hanged a piece of rosary necklace to Britney. We're all wondering what might have caused her to be like this. She's not gone into some sickness years or days ago. Only she didn't want to eat during meals since Friday. I also saw her twice slid her feet while climbing up to my bed. Aside from that, they are both happily playing with our new pup, Mikaru. After a few minutes, we noticed that her breathing is slowly normalizing while we're feeding her sugar to regain energy. She also managed to smile at us already and responding when we call her name. But despite then, she's crying a small tone maybe letting us know that there's something painful inside her. Another minutes passed, she's able to sit and stand in fours without any struggle. But in just seconds, she lies down already. Maybe she still can't do it. For now. Currently, while I'm posting this, she's by my side, lying, wrapped in blanket (to keep her warm) and watching Sunday TV healing mass. So I'm calling every dog lovers and friends to please pray for my baby for her continuous recovery. P.S. We'll still bring her to a professional for check-up. #BritneyII #doglove #family

Action speaks louder than words. But this does not mean words are powerless. From what I've read somewhere, "words are a force of their own" and for me, words are needed to justify the action vice versa with actions are important to back-up words.
A lot of time, people would say they'll be there always for you but when you needed them most, where are they? Some would say they will never hurt you or they would never lie to you, but soon you'll discover that they've been lying to you for a very long time already.They didn't justify through actions what they said. And their actions didn't complement their words. And I guess this is what made some people to never trust words alone.
However, words shouldn't be used just for the sake of making people feel good (or bad). Don't say you understand the other person just for the sake of ending an argument. If you don't, then why say so? Don't say you'll never do things that might hurt them just for the sake of getting them to trust you again, but deep inside you, you know you can't do it soulfully.
If you have fooled me once with your words that doesn't match your actions, it'll be hard for me anymore to trust you no matter what. It's like everything you will say will be doubted.
For me, words and actions should never be separated from each other. They are a team. And they should reflect each other. That's the only way for people to trust words. To trust you. It's basically my key ingredients of trusting a person.
The Joy that Salted Egg Yolk Brings
Salted egg yolk or salt-cured eggs are simply eggs preserved in a salt brine—or packed in a paste made from salt and charcoal—then left to cure until it "cooks." As proteins in the white and yolk coagulate, the egg turns solid, albeit with a soft, jelly-like texture. Or locally speaking here, "itlog na maalat".
Lately I've just discovered that I have secretly fell in love (and sometimes fantasizing) to some salted egg yolk fried chicken. That I keep telling myself that the moment I got a chance to walk by the supermarket, I'll cook it with myself.
There are so many ways to cook with salted egg yolks. A lot of these are stir-fry proteins or vegetables.
Salted Egg Yolk Fried Chicken. Some people add curry leaves, but I prefer some chili lives or for a healthier version, try malunggay leaves.
Stir-fry Squids in Salted Egg Yolk. Best to add some chopped chili for some kick! And use fish sauce and calamansi when marinating the squid.
Salted Egg Yolk String Beans. Perfect as a side dish or snack.
Salted Egg Yolk Crystal Prawns or shrimp. Same with squid, this is better with some chopped chili and spring onions.
Salted Egg Yolk coated Fried Tofu. For some added flavor, fry the tofu together with chopped garlic. Just make sure not to burn the garlic as these will taste awful. Remove the garlic when it's overly toasted already.
The secret basically lies on your salted egg yolk sauce for coating all the deep fried proteins or vegetables. Here's a simple salted egg yolk sauce I found, thanks to Mr. Google:
2 tbsp butter 1 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp evaporated milk 4 salted egg yolks, mashed
Heat olive oil in a separate pan and melt the butter till it turns foamy. Add the salted egg yolks and cook till the mixture becomes bubbly. Reduce heat and add evaporated milk and a pinch of salt. Toss your fried ingredients till evenly coated. Enjoy!
I seriously just can't get enough of the pride they have given to Tanza-Del Carmen School, Inc. These kids were mostly lousy, all playful and 'pasaway' all throughout their rehearsals.
Who would've thought that during the day of their performance, they didn't feel any nervousness but rather excitement. They were so giddy to perform already getting tired while waiting for their queue to start. And with the start of the first drum beat and the band leader's command, they all performed as 'one'. Altogether and synchronized! Whoa! Mind you, these are just kids between 7 to 12 years old. But they didn't perform as kids here. They did it on a performance level!

And for the second time, we bagged the CHAMPION again! :) Thank God for this blessing and also to the supportive parents, coaches, trainers, and friends.

Found my dog in a near death errr almost dying state. She's been left inside my room where windows are tightly locked for AC purposes, in about almost 11 hrs. Suffocated, no water, no food. Just imagine how hot it is to stay in an almost lock tight room.
Picturing how she's struggling for air and fighting with the door hinges to get out, she bit the wood part of my door frame thinking she can do it. But she failed.
I'm just thanking God that He took care of my dog and maybe her Ate Britney I for keeping her company. My dog is very strong and such a fighter. She knows I need her.
Pet owners out there, if you'll be leaving your pets alone at home, make sure they have access to water and in a well ventilated area. Check that they are in a good condition before you leave the house. A friendly reminder from a pet parent (me; coz I'm not just a pet owner, I'm a pet parent) who almost died after seeing her dog in such condition.

So I was tasked and pressured to list down my Christmas wishlist as early as now by my belles. Well it was really a pretty idea to start hunting, saving and shopping early for Christmas. Yeah?
I am really not an a materialistic kind of person when it comes to gifts, so whenever someone asks me what do I want, I just think of things I need at the moment. Merely necessities. Okay, not-so-necessities.
Here ate the things I currently want now. Since my birthday would come first before Christmas, this could count as my birthday wishlist as well and might be updated from time to time:
1. Concealer - I don't know what has gotten into me, but I'm on the look for good quality concealers right now. I recently bought a concealer this weekend and I'm still scouting for concealers that would provide solutions to the other needs of my skin. I don't want to wear foundations everyday just to cover up my impurities. With concealer, I just needed to camouflage them and set it with powder. Drugstore brands would be okay as long as it is high pigmented, long wearing, avoids creasing, oil build-up and pore clogging.
2. Instax mini films (PLAIN) - the more, the merrier. Need I say more? :)
3. Basic colored low-cut sneakers (red, black or navy blue) - in size 5 or if there's 4 1/2 which is rare. My fashion taste right now has slowly evolving to sporty boyish casual lazy look.
4. Belle de Jour Power Planner - I'm reconciling my relationship with this planner. I hated myself for choosing a Starbucks planner. No offense to the fans of this planner. But collecting those stickers have me double chins, additional 3 inches waistline, and 5 lbs. I'm still having a hard time now to get back in my old shape. Pfftt!
5. Make-up brushes - I finally appreciated using the right make-up brush. And for this, I wanted to have or invest on good quality brushes. Plus points if they will come with a pouch to carry them altogether.
6. Lip palette - I just discovered that lipstick in palettes have a more staying result. I only needed one time application which is when I do my make-up at the start of the day. No retouch needed. Was it just my imagination? I'm looking for a palette with shades from pink, to rose, to reddish red, to dark rum. Matte or cream finish only. No to frosted or glittery effect.
7. Tote bag similar to this form / structure in the picture - requirements: light weight, can carry a lot of stuffs, and neutral colors. Very plus points if you're gonna give me a Neverfull LV. Haha!
8. Denim jumper shorts - now this sums up how my style is slowly evolving from girly-girl-only-wearing-skirts-dresses-and-shorts. :)

a. Happy Skin Shut Up and Kiss Me lippie in Girls Night Out shade - available online or in Plains and Prints outlet at PhP 499. Yeah I know, I requested for lip palette but just in case you can't find a whole set for that, this one's a good alternative. *wink*
b. Tarot Card set - I don't know what's gotten into me but when I came across this thing in National Bookstore (even though it's not that much of a necessity for survival either for one's sanity) I told myself, I want this. Only PhP 349 for the whole set, folks!

Pantry Must-Haves
There are only two spots that I frequently visit (and it is a must) when I go to malls: bookstore & supermarket. And when I'm only buying stuffs for dinner, I would usually spend an hour or two just to check out pantry products. See, I've always thought I'm a domesticated diva. Haha!
I've always dreamed about stocking my own pantry (someday) with my unique finds that I can use in my cooking to wow my guests. So one day, while I was browsing Taste Central, I couldn't help myself from window shopping and imagining the things I wanted to put in my cart. And here they are:
1. J.D.'s Bacon Salt - the slogan says it all: everything should taste like bacon. This can be sprinkled over potatoes, grilled meats and veggies, popcorn, crackers and even pasta for a delectably savory dish any time of the day.
2. Sabatino & Co. White Truffle Infused Olive Oil - just because pasta is my go-to comfort food, this truffle oil would be a good companion to transform my simple homecooking into a 5-star goodness. I bet you would agree on that when you smell it. Ha!
3. Trader Joe's Cinnamon Sugar Grinder - strawberries and cream. Peanut butter and jelly. Cinnamon and sugar. They go together like…like two things that go together really well. Especially on toast. But not just on toast. Fruits, latte, muffin, pancake, endless possibilities. Oh and take note of its kick-ass built-in grinder. :)
4. Pili & Pino Cranberry Nut Granola - I'm a true blood non-breakfast-skipper no matter how hectic my working schedule was. I made sure that I wake up extra early just to have a complete breakfast and not just a cup of coffee. This granola mix would surely jumpstart my morning even to the breakfast skippers. I could wager on that!
5. Sabatino & Co. Ready-to-Make Truffle Mac & Cheese - who's not a fan of mac & cheese? Now how about with some truffle in it? Just cook with a tablespoon of butter and grated parmesan cheese, and you're ready to go. And make sure to always keep this in stock in the pantry.
I guess I have to start believing that the memories that are worth remembering are those that are short lived but very well spent. But my 14 years of friendship with these ladies is exempted from the rule. Ha!
Yes, more than a decade. We've been friends since our elementary days, hunting down our crushes' house, biking around our subdivision, living separate lives now (literally, one living up north, one in the not so south, and one from the very south) but we when we get together like this, it seems like we are always casually seeing each other very often. Nonetheless, friendship with no distance and no boundaries.
And summer would be the perfect season to spend a day at the beach with endless camwhoring (proof seen in this photo set). Who says we should splurge on costly resorts when there's a nearby beach and a little island that for an hour we called it our own? Thanks to my belle Kim for giving all the info about this resort as well as 'Little Boracay'.

Almost everyday, the sky is pouring. Does this mean summer is over? Is it? 'Coz I'm saving this entry as a season ender for summer. But I can't wait anymore for that.
The rain brings me the nostalgic feeling of being in the beach, near the waves and getting sunburned. But the irony of that was whenever I'm melting due to intense rising of the temperature, I've always wished for rain. But now that I can feel that the rainy season is nearing already, I'm wishing for the sun.
Call this a throwback-from-the-summer post. This photo set was from my short but sweet visit in Puerto Galera last May together with new people that I've never thought of getting along so well. Of course, I'm used to with the company of my mom, sis, tita and 8-years-behind-me cousin. And whenever I visit this place, I made sure that I bring home along with me new experiences.
It's my first time here to try the banana boat and the island hopping thing. Being a person who loves the waves but ever afraid of being with the waves (fine, I don't know how to swim and I freak out to the thought of drowning). But yes, I was survived the whole thing! :)

Prettifying with Pipes
Who would've thought that these economical material that only men would found useful in every Ace Hardware outlets, PVC pipes could also be a woman's bestfriend when it comes to prettifying things at home. Not too mention that it's also a good tool for organizing everything.
I came across this concept when I'm browsing Pinterest for some cheap decorating ideas for my room. Call me a shallow kind of person, but I'm really amazed what PVC pipes can do. All you just have to do is someone who can saw-cut the pipes on their required sizes. :)

How to Get Voluminous Beachy Waves
...or shall I say, how to keep and maintain your waves that will last the entire day.
Basically, you would only need 3 things: hair gel, sea salt, and water. Oh and of course, a bottle spray. :)
