Harringrove bartender/waiter AU
I work as a bartender for quite a while now and I am about to quit soon (like literally today is my last day here, as it turns out), so my mind is kinda nostalgic at the moment + it is alwaaaays in a harringrove mode. So... so I'm kinda projecting a little and... here we go with some thoughts about harringrove au where Billy survived after the battle for the starcourt and became a bartender, yeap.
Steve and Robin came to get waiter jobs at the bar/restaurant/cafe where Billy is a bartender. But they didn't know that bc it was not Billy's shift so they agreed about the begining of working and at what time and etc. And after a couple of days of probation they come to work only to see that [the other bartender's name] shift is over and now it's turn of... Billy.
"King Steve, gosh, are you a waiter now? Got tired of your little sailor panties? Or is it just because you wanted to be closer to me, huh?"
"Billy... oh my god, how, how even are you?.. What? I am... I..."
"Relax, Harrington. Go to open your shift and get dressed already, we will have plenty of time to talk. Or to yell at each other. Or something. Oh! And be a good boy and bring me a couple of lemons from the kitchen. Please".
And the day is just fine - Steve only lisstens how Billy talks to other waiters and makes jokes with some cooks and goes for smoke breaks every hour.
But at the end of the shift... well, kitchen closes the first, then it's bar and only then it's the restaurant/cafe/whatever itself.
So all of the cooks left already, Billy just closed his shift and is about to leave but Steve can't let him just do it. And can't ask him to wait for him to finish. So he asks his manager/administrator to leave a bit earlier today (but he/she only agrees bc Robin promised to be just fine on her own).
And that's how both Billy and Steve end up in a changing room together at the same time.
"How... how are you even doing? Did your wounds heal? Did the mind flayer leave? Did..."
"Relax, Harrington. I'm just as fine as you are"
"I came to visit you in the hospital a couple of times, but you were never awake and..."
"Yeah, I know. Max told me. Didn't think you would worry about me, pretty boy"
"It isn't a joke, Billy! You could die! And I was afraid, and I didn't know what you were going through, and..."
"I kinda hate to interrupt you once again, but a work's changing room is not the place for talking about monsters from other dimensions or just about something more serious than hating to wake up early and stuff. So finish your clothing and meet me outside, Harrington - we'll have a proper talk. And maybe I finally teach you how to smoke properly, huh!"
