Oliver gave a nonchalant shrug and his expression hardened, “how many times have I gotta say it, before your stubborn ass hears me? – she found me, Kiera. I didn’t do that and you know what? I’m glad she did, cus y’right, we’ll let her make up her damn mind about what she wants.” Oliver’s intentions had never been to endanger his daughter or Kiera and he understood why they couldn’t be around him. But at the time, he had truly believed that everything he was doing, was best for the pack, for his family. He had never meant to inflict so much damage or betray the Crescents, but his bullheadedness and desire for power, had severe consequences. He wasn’t lying when he said that he didn’t think like that anymore, he honestly didn’t and at the time of his death, he had made peace with that too. His intentions were entirely different this time around. Perhaps his methods were similar, but he was a work in progress. “I’m done talkin’ bout this Kiera” he muttered, exasperated by their constant going back and forth, it had always been the same story, but that was his fault. The shift of conversation towards Hope had Oli taking a step forwards as he shook his head, “stop – cut that shit out before someone hears you” he knew the price that Hope ordered those to pay who spoke out against her and he wasn’t prepared to see Kiera experience that. “I know, alright? Fuck, I know Kiera. You really ain’t listenin’ to me. I know how messed up this shit is. What that kid’s doin’, I know. But I can … shit, she trusts me, alright? an’ that’s workin’ out in our favour so far. I just gotta get to Jack an’ Hayley an’ then… then we can stop this.” His words trailed off within momentary defeat and now he could only assume that Kiera had heard about Octavia being in the Bayou and her reaction was hardly surprising. “Kid had nowhere else to go, alright? She’s been chained up her entire damn life, thought she earned at least one night off.” The coldness in Kiera’s eyes was hardly surprising, he had seen it on and off since the conversation had begun and in all honesty, he knew he deserved it and he was about to make the situation worse. “I ain’t promisin’ that”, he protested, his head shaking as he did so. “She’s my kid too. I ain’t doin’ that to her. Not turnin’ my back.” The wolf tugged his digits through his unkempt locks with a scoff, “I didn’t turn my back on her before, I know that ain’t how you see it, but I damn well died. I didn’t bail on her. But, I’m not waistin’ whatever second chance this is, to not get to know her. I’m sorry, but I ain’t fuckin’ her over like that.”
“And I don’t care!” Kiera stressed, what kid wouldn’t go looking for their returned from the dead parent? What kid wouldn’t want to know them? She couldn’t blame Sky and under other circumstances she would have been glad to see the two get to know one another but not under the threat that Sky could get hurt. “I’m not gonna let my kid get mixed up in this bullshit and you are waist deep in it” Truth being that if Sky wanted to get into it all there wasn’t much she could do but give her shit or do what she could to make sure she got out unscathed. “I’ve been done with it for over eighteen years, Oli. I thought I was at least but its always the same.” She shakes her head with an exasperated sigh as she ran her hand through her hair. She nods her head, “Right, her lap dogs.” She mutters with an annoyed breath, frustration washing over and with it the hated tears that pooled in her eyes which to deflect them she shoved him hard in the chest, “That is the same fucking bullshit, Oli!” Whatever he had planned it was a stupid fucking idea, one that was bound to get him caught and killed and likely backlash onto her via Sky. Whatever it was, if it was around Hayley, Jackson and Hope it was bad and she wasn’t just scared for their daughter, she was scared for Oliver just as much and that fear came out in hostility in her typical fashion. “She trusts you, working out for fucking who? Stop it?! God, you are such a fucking mess. Like the last time? Huh? Fixing things, yeah I remember the whole Oli fixing things bit. Yeah it ended with you dead.” She nods her head and points a finger at him, “I don’t give a shit about that kid, or anyone else who wants to follow Hope. As far as I’m concerned anyone working with her willingly is a little sociopath and I’m only concerned with keeping the people from this bayou safe. The people who are my family.” Strangers coming in and out of the bayou only presented an issue and she knew they needed less of those not more. “Which is just why I want you to stay from her. I remember what it was like when you died, she was just a baby. Now you want her to get to know you, want her to love you just in time for your next time knocking on deaths door?” It was a pain that Kiera wanted to spare Sky, it was one thing to miss something you never had, to think of this version of a father in your head but to have him in person and then it be teared away would be something else. “You bailed on us all when you made the choices you did, you bailed when you put your life on the line for some power move.”
